THIS IS IT – OCTOBER PRAYING THROUGH THE WINDOW STARTS THIS WEEKEND

Okay, folks… this is the month the world awaited. Join the 50 million (probably literally) people on Sunday as we kick off ” Praying Through the Window II, Praying for the 100 Gateway Cities of the 10/40 Window“! All the hubbub (is that how you spell hubbub??) won’t mean a thing unless you dig out those 8 1/2 x 14 brochures and carry them around with you starting Sunday. If we say we’re missionaries or mission executives but don’t take this thing seriously, well… “Should I not be concerned…?” was a line that God used with Jonah about another city, as I recall. Join Him in that Godly concern and pray for the 100 Gateway Cities.
--------------------------------------

PRAYING THROUGH THE WINDOW II RESOURCES

We’ve received some great responses on Praying Through the Window II. In fact, we’ve just wrapped ’em up in a file and put them out there where you can pull ’em in. To receive nine pages full of ideas on how to mobilize your church during October for praying for the 100 Gateway Cities of the 10/40 Window , send email to hubatxcdotorg  (hubatxcdotorg)   with only the following line in the body of the message text:
get brigada 100gwcideas

By the way, if you’ve lost that 8 1/2 x 11 brochure, the entire list of cities is included as a portion of this resource packet.

Of special importance is the AIMS homepage, now located at:
http://the700club.org/AIMS/AIMS.html
It would be a great place to explore as each day passes through October!

--------------------------------------

MATING GAME

Sure enough, within the next two weeks, we’ll be premiering a conference that will be attempting to match people with mission opportunities around the world. God has raised up a pair of super moderators for this task.

GLOBAL GLIMPSE

A young guerrilla in Colombia tells how he was assigned to blow up a church but could not: “The following morning, heavily armed, I forced my way into the church. I ordered the pastor to baptize me. He murmured something about Bible classes which I needed, but changed his mind when I pushed the barrel of my gun into his ribs. I was baptized on the spot, and have served God without interruption since.” He now visits and encourages persecuted Christians in Columbia’s mountains.

MISSIONS CLIP ART – WHERE IS IT?

A Brigada participant emailed this past week looking for good quality clip art for missions brochures and the like. We ran into a general package, ClickArt – 800-986-2537 — 25,000 images for $50. In addition, Kingdom Graphics (2713 Mt. Vernon Av., Willow Grove, PA 19090, Tel: 215-657-5888 Fax: 215-657-4847) has a specific Missions Graphics set, (many are in encapsulated postscript, but most in ‘tif’ format). Are there others? If you know of one, please send it to BrigadaCoordatxcdotorg  (BrigadaCoordatxcdotorg)   with subject, “Clip Art”.
--------------------------------------

HELP FOR MISSIONARY KIDS

Barbara Haas aa3141atfreenetdotloraindotoberlindotedu  (aa3141atfreenetdotloraindotoberlindotedu)   is looking for a ministry that seeks to help missionary kids who are suffering from less than best adjustment during their younger years. She’s in touch with one who needs help. He’s “been suicidal since his teen years. He was sent off to boarding school and never learned to communicate with his parents.” Note that we’ve already suggested Narramore and MKNet and she wasn’t looking for that… She wanted something that would allow him to talk these problems through. If you have an idea, please correspond directly with Barbara about it.
--------------------------------------

“WEB SITES YA GOTTA’ CHECK OUT”

This week’s suggestion comes from Matt Benjamin Matt_Benjaminatsildotorg  (Matt_Benjaminatsildotorg)   on Sikh resources:
http://www.io.org:80/~sandeep/sikhism.htm
http://www.biologie.uni-freiburg.de/~amueller/religion/sikh.html

Not sure why it has taken us until now to present this one. After all, Jesus commanded us to do this one first. Matt 5:33.

BRIGADA TODAY BACK-ISSUES

Did you know you could punch up Brigada Today‘s back issues? Just point your browser to the Brigada www homepage and do some sniffing around. You’ll even find a topical index that organizes matters by subject rather than by issue date!!! Thanks to Bob Mayhew, our amazing WebMaster, whom we hope God rewards luxuriously in Heaven, because, as you know, Brigada doesn’t pay him much here on earth!!! [zero, zilch, nada!!! He does it as a ministry!] Bob has recently finished the transformation of all Brigada back-issues into HTML code just for you on the worldwide web. I can’t tell you how thankful I am for his partnership!!!

YIKES – THE MISSING LINK! (CAN YOU FIND SOMEONE HEADED TO TRIPOLI!)

Just this morning, we received this message from Mark Wilson markdotwilsonatcbndotorg  (markdotwilsonatcbndotorg)  , co-coordinator of “Praying Through the Window II”:

     Doug,
We got Beirut covered but now we have no teams registered who are
going to Tripoli, Libya. Hopefully someone on Brigada might help us
again with this information. Thanks!!
Mark

All right. Who can we think of that might be on a cruise to Libya??? Seriously, if you know of someone who can participate in praying “on site with insight” there during the month of October, write to CIN at 73422dot3471atcompuservedotcom  (73422dot3471atcompuservedotcom)  . Is there at least anyone going to the shores of Tripoli???

VIDEO GUIDELINES

As groups from all over the world leave for the 10/40 Window, Stan Jeter (Senior Producer for CBN) and Mark Wilson (Co-Coordinator for Praying Through the Window II) would like to offer suggestions to those who might be gathering video footage. Some may have the opportunity to share that footage with CBN for video reports on Praying Through the Window II. If you’d like to see Stan’s suggestions, send email to hubatxcdotorg  (hubatxcdotorg)   with only the following line in the body of the message text:

Note: (These pointers are probably going to be valuable to you no matter where you’re capturing images, 10/40 Window or otherwise! Thanks Stan and Mark.)

WE JUST SAW THIS ANNOUNCEMENT MOMENTS AGO ON DFWMOBILIZERS’ CONFERENCE

Thanks to John Anderson for sharing revealing that the brigada-pubs-globalprayerdigest is going to run daily reminder announcements featuring “a single unreached people group from one of the 100 Gateway Cities being prayed for that day.” To subscribe, send an e-mail message to hubatxcdotorg  (hubatxcdotorg)   with only the following line in the body of the message text:

IF YOU’RE TRAVELING WITH A COMPUTER….

John Hanna, who prepares the Global Glimpses featured each week in Brigada Today, has volunteered to receive and digest email reports from the 10/40 Window. Send them to JHannaatcprojectdotcom  (JHannaatcprojectdotcom)   and he’ll assemble them in sets that we can then post on Brigada as files for retrieval and on the worldwide web for those who browse. We can list the index of files to retrieve in each week’s Brigada Today. So… if you’re traveling to the Window and can get access to a PC, send email to John and keep the world informed!

“WEB SITES YA GOTTA’ CHECK OUT” FOLLOW-UP

Last week we shared Greg Slade’s “find” at http://bible.acu.edu/ctt. This past week he informed us that the URL: http://bible.acu.edu/ctt/ctt-home.htm is a better way to access the page, since it retains more in-document links. Try it!
--------------------------------------

“SUPPOSE WE KNOW THIS TRILINGUAL GIRL…” FOLLOW-UP

Thanks to the several who contacted us immediately after our mention of a trilingual willing servant, in last week’s Brigada Today. By the end of the day last Friday, calls were already going out to her!!! In addition, we think a possible moderator (for the newly proposed conference on placement in Christian opportunities) has been secured.
--------------------------------------

THANKS FOR THOSE WHO WROTE RE: “THIS WEEK’S [ATTEMPT AT] HUMOR”

Thanks to the half dozen readers who immediately sent notes regarding the inappropriateness of last week’s “joke”. They pointed out accurately that,

  1. at least one of the names mentioned has not been convicted as guilty,
  2. all the men are black, thus possibly portraying blacks in a bad light, and
  3. Brigada is a family of networks about missions and that kind of humor has no place here.

Wow. Sorry gang. I mentioned to those who wrote that I was so naive that it didn’t even occur to me that all 3 guys were black and that the joke might be sending a message to those sharp enough to listen for it! As a result, I’m asking for your forgiveness in posting the joke in this venue. It has already been removed from the worldwide web version.

--------------------------------------

GLOBAL GLIMPSE

The largest prayer initiative in the history of the Church will be this October. Fifty million believers worldwide will participate in Praying Through the Window, II: The 100 Gateway Cities. As of August 31, 99 of the 100 cities are scheduled to be visited by a prayer team and 95 are slated for two or more teams. Beirut, Lebanon is the only city still without a team registered. [See update below!]

BEIRUT IS NOW COVERED!

Thanks to Mark Patterson, of Global Mapping, Inc., who was faithfully reading his Brigada Today when he noticed there weren’t any prayer teams marked down for Beirut. He immediately put the Christian Information Network in touch with a friend who happened to be taking a group over this fall. He was sure they’d make a portion of their trip into a prayer journey and he was right! Now, as a result of working together, all 100 Gateway Cities will be covered by on-site prayer teams!

BRIGADA CONFERENCING PROTOCOL NEEDED

The following message was recently overheard on one of our sub-conferences:

“Please, please, will everyone please put a footer on outgoing messages so that readers can be assured that they have the whole message! I don’t want to rattle anyone’s cage nor upset their day, but I would like to know that I have it all and that something has not been lost in transmission.

“Please also keep private messages off the net.

“As long as I am on my soapbox, I will also ask that we not begin our messages with, “Dear Dick…” Who’s Dick? Also, if we are replying to a question or anything, it will be most helpful to quote enough of the prior text so that the reader knows what’s going in, otherwise it is as so much blather and clogging up the airways.

“Please, also, may we not perpetuate a subject line through several incarnations to the point where it no longer bears any connection to the subject at hand.

“I really believe in networking for my work would be literally and truly impossible without it. Brigada and its sub-conferences was an idea long overdue in coming and my hat is off to everyone responsible for its creation and ongoing operation. But, it will make it easier for everyone if we can observe some few guidelines of protocol.

“Please take my words in the spirit of helpfulness that they are offered even though some spirit of frustration cannot be avoided.

“I recommend that someone in authority prepare a set of protocol guidelines, the observing of which will make networking easier for everyone. I know that this is anathema to some but they do help.”
[Thanks to Dave Nesmith for a heroic job getting us started in this work!]

The above already form the basis for some primary protocol for participation in multiple-speaker conferences. (“Mailing list” conferences, such as Mission Frontiers won’t get quite as much out of this discussion, of course.) If you’d like to add more, please send it to BrigadaCoordatxcdotorg  (BrigadaCoordatxcdotorg)   with subject line “Protocols”. We’ll try to assemble a standard set that can be downloaded by any and all interested. Thanks!

--------------------------------------

SEND IN YOUR BEST “100 GATEWAY CITIES PRAYER EMPHASIS” IDEA

Compose a paragraph about how your church is rallying to feature the 100 Gateway Cities of the 10/40 Window in “Praying Through the Window II” and send it to BrigadaCoordatxcdotorg  (BrigadaCoordatxcdotorg)   this week, with subject line, “100GWC Ideas”. We’ll feature the top ten in next week’s Brigada Today. If your idea is used, you’ll get a free Brigada t-shirt. (As always, neither Brigada employees nor their families are eligible to compete.) [Of course there are no Brigada “employees”! In fact, there aren’t even any t-shirts!!! :-) ] Don’t forget to include an idea or two about how you will not lose sight of praying for the 100 Gateway Cities personally.
--------------------------------------

HOW TO REACH 10,000 BRIGADA PARTICIPANTS

Well, we all know how we could reach the 10,000 subscribers mark. With just four partcipants short of 1000 readers this week, we could reach the 10,000 mark very easily if you were to just forward this Brigada Today to 9 or 10 others and invite them to participate. Make sure they know to send email to hubatxcdotorg  (hubatxcdotorg)   (not DLucasatTeamExpansiondotorg and not brigadaatbrigadadotorg) with only this line:

That’s it!

WANT TO START AN EMAIL CONFERENCE OR NEWS LIST ON YOUR GATEWAY CITY?

It’s easy.

  • Join CrossConnect by sending a note to Cathleenatxcdotorg  (Cathleenatxcdotorg)  . She’ll send you detailed information about how to do it. It’s $52/year and gives you a “friendly” email address (after which your email is “forwarded” through CrossConnect to whatever service you choose to use that day or week or month!), conference moderator privileges, etc.
  • Send a note to BrigadaCoordatxcdotorg  (BrigadaCoordatxcdotorg)   explaining the city or people group for which you’d like to moderate a list or discussion. You’ll soon receive easy step-by-step instructions (with lots of examples) on how to create the new conference.
  • Send the create commands to BrigadaCoordatxcdotorg  (BrigadaCoordatxcdotorg)   for final error-checking and consistency cross-checks. Within 48 hours or so, you’ll be in business! There are no “per message” fees or on-going monthly charges to either you, your network, or your users.

Questions about CrossConnect and its policies??? Write Cathleenatxcdotorg  (Cathleenatxcdotorg)  .
Questions about Brigada conferences? Write BrigadaCoordatxcdotorg  (BrigadaCoordatxcdotorg)  .

ANNOUNCING THE BIRTH OF: BRIGADA-MEDICINE-FOR-POOR

Thanks to Matthew Grant MatthewGrantatXCdotOrg  (MatthewGrantatXCdotOrg)   and his vision for the poor… and for medicine for the poor! He’s gearing up for a new Brigada discussion group. He writes, “This conference is a discussion on helping medically in poor countries. Christians and non-Christians are welcome. The intent is to foster discussion about projects that could provide or assist in providing effective help to poor people, and to provide a place where people can get together and find others who could help them in this area. A lot of the discussion could be of a technical nature, as the founder of this group is interested in fostering discussion of how the Internet and Computers can be used to help in 3rd World medical situations. If there is a lot of traffic, separate groups will be formed. Those from Mission organisations [I know, I know… It’s a “z” on this side of the world but after all, he is from New Zealand!] are welcome to join. It would be interesting to have your input into this topic and to hear about your experiences. The founder hopes and prays that this conference can help you further your work.” To join, just send email to hubatxcdotorg  (hubatxcdotorg)   with the following line in the body of the message text:

SUPPOSE WE KNOW THIS TRILINGUAL GIRL…

Okay, so suppose we know this trilingual girl… Chinese (that’s her first language), French (that’s professional translator level) and English (that’s…. hm… acceptable conversation level). Suppose she’s looking for a job in ministry somewhere and she’s willing to move anywhere in the world and work for just about any salary. How would she find a job? What if someone in the Brigada family were to moderate a conference for “job placement”. A kind of “volunteer clearinghouse.” Those looking for a mission/ministry position would subscribe and send a message to the conference reporting their skills/gifts. Those offering a position would subscribe and send a message describing the opportunity. Anyone interested in moderating such a conference? (Note that according to MAF/CrossConnect’s new policies, all moderators need to join CrossConnect at $52/year to get an XC.org domain as well as several other benefits. Hey… someone has to pay the bills.) Oh.. I almost forgot. Got a paid position for this trilingual gal? (She has two degrees, by the way.)

THIS WEEK’S GLOBAL GLIMPSE

The Jesus Film, a movie based on the Gospel of Luke, has been presented to over 700 million people according to Campus Crusade for Christ. In the 220 countries where it has been shown more than 41 million expressed interest in becoming Christians. Over 400 mission organizations use this film, which is available in 325 languages.

HOW ‘BOUT THOSE LOUISIANAMOBILIZERS

There is only one state in the union that has asked to form its own mobilization/discussion conference in the Brigada family of networks and it is the great state of Louisiana. [Can you hear the cheers in the background?] [Well then maybe your computer doesn’t have multi-media sound installed??? :-) ] We’ve seen them at work this past week, for instance, as one conference member asked for more info. on Bethany’s role in tackling prayer profile preparation for AD2000 & Beyond. A Bethany staffer responded with an update and several faithful fellow Louisianaians (what is the proper term? :-) ) have now volunteered to pitch in and help with the colossal project of preparing prayer profiles for all 2000+ least reached people groups that AD2000 & Beyond will be lifting up for church planting. Regardless of how things come out on this particular challenge, the outcome is that the world Christians in Louisiana are taking their role seriously… seriously enough to get together and do something about the unreached! Thanks Louisiana! (To join the conference and get free seafood samplers at their bayou shrimp-fests, send email to hubatxcdotorg  (hubatxcdotorg)   with only the following line in the message text:

MISSION FRONTIERS TO FEATURE JOSHUA PROJECT

Thanks to Rick Wood for his tireless efforts in promoting global outreach in the US Center’s Mission Frontiers. In response to our note thanking him for the latest (Sept.) issue, he responded this past week, “I am glad you liked the latest issue of MF. The next one may be the most important that we have ever done with the introduction of the Joshua Project 2000. We are also wanting to get as wide a distribution for this issue as we can. We are wanting to see people send it to missionaries, pastors and mission agency and denominational leaders. We are contacting the Adopt-A-People agencies to see if they want extra copies of this next issue so that we have a good idea of how many we need when we go to press. Could you put a notice in Brigada Today for people interested in extra copies of the Nov.-Dec. 95 Joshua Project 2000 issue? Have them contact me by email at RickWMFataoldotcom  (RickWMFataoldotcom)   and give me their name, address, phone, position or title, if they are with a church or mission agency, and the quantity desired?” If you’re viewing this on www, you can probably just click on Rick’s address and write him here! Otherwise, dash him a quick email and ask for info. on the Joshua Project issue. As Rick said, this could be the most important issue of Mission Frontiers to date!!! And don’t forget, you can subscribe to MF electronically and get it right here on Brigada. HAVE YOU REGISTERED YOUR INTEREST IN A PEOPLE GROUP?

I did it this week. Okay, I admit. I was partially just interested in seeing if it would work. But it did! Earlier this week, I talked with a missionary to India, on home service here in the USA. He had attended a mobilizers’ luncheon we had sponsored in Indianapolis and on his form he volunteered to help however he could with the least reached. While talking with him, I learned that his church of 80 Tamil-speaking Indians was located roughly 10 miles or so from the area in South India where the unreached Yanadi live. There is no church among the Yanadi yet and I asked this gentleman if his church in India could help. He was most interested. I committed to trying to help organize an effort to reach the Yanadi. First, I logged on the worldwide web and pointed my browser to the Brigada home page, then clicked on “Reaching the Least Reached”, then on the “People Group Consultant (PGC).” There, I put the word “Yanadi” in the box and hit “search”. Within a few seconds, I had all kinds of information on the screen, including population, language, country, Ethnologue code, etc. They were listed as being in “World A” — another way of saying the 10/40 Window — and they were unreached. At the top of the form is a place to click on the “Adopt-A-People Clearinghouse”, to register my interest. I clicked there and sent a brief note explaining my hopes to rally interest in the Yanadi and serve as a temporary volunteer “People Specific Advocate” (if there wasn’t one already). Within 5 hours, I had a fax in my box from Adopt-a-People Clearinghouse with more information, including the status of reached-ness, the language family group, and a very nice intro. letter from Evie Bowers, who is currently handling email for the AAPC. I also copied my letter to John Hanna, who serves as Advocacy Manager for Caleb Project (a mobilization group from Colorado), and to Brigada-Peoples (a conference that specializes in trying to see people groups “adopted”). You should see the nice notes I got back from people who were encouraging me in my efforts for the Yanadi. I found out that my role was to “Learn, Link, and Love” (thanks John), and I learned about others that have become advocates for nearby groups. I even know their location down to the hundred-thousandths of a degree latitude and longitude!!! :-) I’ve no excuse now. I know exactly what to do. I urge you to register your adoption or even your interest. (And by the way, look me up in the PGC. John Hanna’s already got me posted! :-) Just follow the instructions below and search for Yanadi. Cool. I’m famous!)

  • Look up the people group in the People Group Consultant (point your browser directly to http://www.xc.org/pgc.html or send email to hubatxcdotorg  (hubatxcdotorg)   with only the following lines in the body of the email message (searching, for example, for data on the Yanadi people group):
    search Yanadi
[ special secret — at your own risk, you can also experiment with the new beta page at http://www.xc.org/pgctest.html but don’t tell Jonathan Marsden that I told you!!! :-) Remember, it’s still experimental! Check it out. Lots better options… search by country, language, the works!]

  • Send a message to Brigada-Peoplesatxcdotorg  (Brigada-Peoplesatxcdotorg)   sharing your intent (John Hanna and others monitor and will pick up on your message).

  • Send a message to aapcatxcdotorg  (aapcatxcdotorg)   (either from the www page, where you can click on the button, or just from your regular email software). Register your intent to reach a group. That way, if others are interested, they’ll be able to contact you. Remember that you need not mention anything secure or sensitive, such as the exact towns where you or your agency/church is working, nor any names of new believers or missionaries. All you need do is mention that you’ve “staked a claim” and accepted responsibility for reaching that piece of the least reached world.

Wow. Let’s do it.

WHAT SHOULD WE DO IF/WHEN WE CROSS THE 1000 MARK?

My wife Penny suggested that we host a pizza party for everyone at our house. Shall we hold the onions? I hate onions. :-)

ONE MORE CITY TO CROSS!

Throughout the past year, many have joined together in planning for the “Praying Through the Window II” campaign. And with just 20 days remaining until we jointly pray for the 100 Gateway Cities of the 10/40 Window, many prayer journey participants are packing their bags to “pray on site with insight!” The Communications Director of the AD2000 & Beyond International Office in Colorado Springs wrote this past week that “341 different teams will take 546 journeys with some teams traveling to more than one city.” Certainly, God is at work throughout our world!

There’s just one problem. We’re missing someone! David also wrote of a one particular city with no prayer journeys scheduled. And Mark Wilson of CBN, a co-coordinator for the 100 Gateway Cities Prayer campaign, wrote, “On our monthly committee conference call this past Wednesday, Beverly [Pegues, of the Christian Information Network,] updated us on the prayer teams going to the Gateway Cities. She reported that Beirut, Lebanon, is the only Gateway City that does not have a team registered to do on-site prayer. The inability of U.S. citizens to get a visa because of the State Department’s discouraging travel there obviously has prevented Americans from visiting Beirut. However, Europeans and others can get in with no problem. Could you announce on Brigada our need to have a team(s) go to Beirut? If anyone out there is planning to go but is uncommitted, or is waiting for God to speak, well, he’s speaking. “Go to Beirut!” Beverly and Ted want to emphasize the sensitivity of Americans going into Beirut and that this is not for novices. Preferably non-Americans should go. Thanks for getting the word out.”

So…. here’s where we get down to it, gang. Who among us knows someone that is already traveling to Beirut? Would they consider dedicating a portion their journey to prayer? And since we’re just 20 days away (and desperate! :-) ), who among us knows someone already in Beirut!?! Would they be willing to dedicate a portion of their time there? If so, contact Beverly at CIN: Phone (719)522-1040. Fax (719)576-2685. Email 73422dot3471atcompuservedotcom  (73422dot3471atcompuservedotcom)  to Colorado Springs.

PROJECT JOSHUA UNFOLDS

The more we learn about AD2000 & Beyond’s Project Joshua, the more we like! According to a letter received this past week from John Robb (and Jim Brown), Project Joshua “will encompass prayer, partnership, guidance, research, media and communication, database management, mobilization and implementation.” John is Coordinator of AD2000 & Beyond’s Unreached Peoples Track. He says the present conceptual objectives for Project Joshua are:

  • Complete the Field Research of the 2000 least evangelized peoples by April 1997
  • Hold GCOWE follow-on gatherings for Country and Track Coordinators, Mega-church pastors, mission executives, students, etc.
  • Call over 30-50 million Christians to join in the “Praying Through the Window II event in October 1995 for the 100 Gateway Cities
  • Call over 50 million to participate in prayer for the 2000 Least Evangelized Peoples in “Praying Through the Window III” in October 1997.
  • Prepare and deploy the ground force of church planters
  • Form a ministry Partnership for each Unreached People, bringing together different efforts in a synergistic, integrated approach.

ANOTHER ADDITION TO THE “GOTTA GET THERE” DEPARTMENT

Give Tammy Sullivan a chance. According to one Brigada user, “she’s got dogged determination!” While many other agents catch the easy-to-get fares off the computer, Tammy specializes in hard-to-find wholesalers who sell fares at volume discounts, then she passes along the savings to clients. Plus, this past week, for the benefit of Brigada users, she obtained an email account: tammygregataoldotcom  (tammygregataoldotcom)   — so try her . . . you might like her! (If you want to use the old-fashioned technology, call her at “Travel” at 800-513-8293 or fax her at 513-753-8293 in Cincinnati, Ohio.)

“BUT HOW DO I SEND A WORD PROCESSING FILE THROUGH THE INTERNET?!!!”

Get Wincode. It’s a free piece of software that allows you to encode a binary file (like a word processing document, or spreadsheet, or desktop published file) into ascii characters (which is what is used for email), so you can incorporate these files into your email messages . Often, a particular file might break out into 5 segments, depending on its size and your mailer’s limits. Wincode handles all that seaming transparently. If you have www access, get it at: http://www.interlog.com/~artpro/wncode.zipfor wincode Otherwise, if you don’t have graphical access, get a similar DOS text-based program called UUEncode/UUDecode by sending email to hubatxcdotorg  (hubatxcdotorg)  with only the following line in the body of the text message:
get brigada uuexe521.bat

Uuexe521.bat will come wondering into your email inbasket soon. Just save it as an ascii file, then execute it as if it were a batch file. It works! This file comes complete with all the instructions you’ll need. Warning: As with all software, make sure it works before you leave for an overseas position!

PRAY FOR SOUTH AFRICAN START-UPS

What do you get when you put Patrick Johnstone in the same room as Keith Butler (new director of the Adopt-a-People Clearinghouse), side by side with Philip Botha (South Africa’s people group “adoption” coordinator)? Well, at the least, you get a lot of interest in reaching the world’s least evangelized people groups! Thanks to Marv Bowers and others who alerted us to the conference just wrapping up in S. Africa. Wow. S. Africa’s going to be a hard act to follow!

Thanks to Merriottataoldotcom  (Merriottataoldotcom)  for alerting us of this great resource, delivered free every other day. Although not a Christian publication, it is reportedly a great way to keep on news from China. It’s mostly being assembled by chinese volunteers living in the USA.

WE GET MAIL

Thanks to the reader who wrote, this past week, …. “I just wanted to echo my 2c worth for how fantastic Brigada is. I am delighted that the church is taking advantage of modern technology that is transforming this little global village. I am excited with the level of discussion concerning strategies and priorities. I am thrilled with the potential of the People Group Consultant. This is hot stuff for the kingdom!” [By the way — the PGC is almost ready for a major upgrade. Be watching next week for the announcement – we hope.]

GLOBAL GLIMPSE

Here’s this weeks Global Glimpse for you to put in your church bulletin or newsletter. “Amid the violence of war, evangelical churches are starting in Bosnia-Herzegovina, World Relief reported. In the eastern city of Tuzla, where more than 30,000 people have taken refuge, an evangelical church is providing relief and baptizing new believers. In the eight months since it began, 23 people have been baptized and 45 attend regularly. “We are seeing a steady stream of people coming to know Jesus, where there were no evangelical believers before.”
