291 PAGES OF BRIGADA TODAY IDEAS AND RESOURCES
Want a quick way look back on some 291 pages of Brigada Today ideas and resources? Check out the archives on the web? One user wrote this past week, “Is there any location where you keep back issues of your weekly newsletter?” A resounding yes!
a) Go to http://www.xc.org/Brigada/today/bt_index.html and read to your heart’s content or
b) those without web access may send email to hub@xc.org with only the words
filelist brigada

in the text of the message. You’ll receive a list of the files you can then “request” by email… and a big portion of that file list will be the list of back issues of Brigada Today. Each issue is saved according to the pattern, “brigada-today.YYMMDD” with the last six initials being the date of the issue, as in “brigada-today.960907”. To order a copy, just send another message to hub@xc.org with only the line
get brigada brigada-today.960907

in the text of the message. Obviously, replace the date with the issue you’re seeking. Happy hunting!

MEDICAL MISSIONS CONFERENCE WILL BE HERE IN A HEARTBEAT
Don’t forget about Southeast Christian Church’s one-day conference on medical missions, November 16. The course has been developed for all medical personnel including physicians, nurses, and medical support personnel to provide practical information regarding diagnosis and treatment of diseases seen in mission areas of the world where diagnostic equipment is limited and to develop a proper perspective on medical missions in the overall context of the evangelization of unreached peoples.

Four speakers with expertise in tropical medicine, parasitology, infectious disease, pediatrics, and obstetrics-gynecology as well as practical experience in the medical mission field will give us advice on how to practice medicine in these areas of the world where modern diagnostic equipment and the latest in treatment modalities are not available. Our keynote speaker will examine the role of the health professional as a missionary for God by integrating his or her faith in Him with their professional skills in treating the whole person, not just a patient with a medical illness. … Believe it or not, it’s free! For a brochure or for more information about the course, call Stephanie Garling at 502-451-5317 ext. 725 or write to: Southeast Christian Church, Missions Committee, 2840 Hikes Lane, Louisville, Kentucky, 40218.

GOT ANY PH.D. PROGRAMS?
One missionary in the Philippines would like to know if there are any Ph.D. programs by extension. Write Dave Johnson djohnson@mnl.sequel.net if you have a lead. Dave, please send us a summary of your findings in a couple of weeks!

GET THE COLD, HARD FACTS IN CHILI
The Iberoamerican Institute, located in Santiago, Chile, begins its third year of operation in March 1997, and is seeking motivated and qualified students for the nine-month term. The institute is designed to allow the student to test his or her desire to be a cross-cultural minister, without sensing failure if the answer is “no.”

North American and Latin American students study together and work together, designing strategies for service and evangelism, and executing the plans. The length of the Institute term gives the students the opportunity to experience fully the first wave of “culture shock,” and to overcome it productively with the help of the Institute staff. The students gain a confidence in their identity with Christ which will serve equally well in the mission field or in the local church.

Students must be 19 years or older, single or married, with a strong recommendation from an elder, or other spiritual leader. Each student will be required to raise support as a missionary, and will be required to demonstrate accountability to his or her supporters.

Deadline for letters of intent is January 10, 1997. Applications and further information are available by contacting Dr. James Green, Director, Iberoamerican Institute e-mail: fcabezas@lascar.puc.cl.

PCC WEB SITE BACK AMONG THE LIVING

Over 30 inquiries came into the PCC office within 2 days of the Brigada Today announcement about PCC’s on-line MBA programs. Check it out!
