A BRIGADA EXCLUSIVE: TWO BOOKS BY JOHN PIPER FOR $10.00!
Wow! These people are wild. They seem serious about wanting zillions to have these books!!! (I just hope they know what they’re getting into! :-) ) So — the least we can do is order them! :-) You see, for a limited time, Desiring God Ministries is offering John Piper’s book, Let The Nations Be Glad: The Supremacy Of God In Missions, and his newest book, A Hunger For God: Desiring God Through Fasting And Prayer to all Brigada subscribers for $10.00 (shipping included anywhere in the world!). I told you these people were wild. There’s something about that kind of attitude… the one that says, “shipped anywhere in the world”… that says something very clearly about their goals. It speaks volumes, in fact. And get this… they wrote Brigada this week… “And if you can’t afford the $10.00, we’ll give them to you for free! We’re making these books available as inexpensively as we can because we want you to get excited with us about spreading a passion for the supremacy of God in all things for the joy of ALL PEOPLES.” Bookstores sell NATIONS for $12.99 and HUNGER for $10.99. So for $10.00 you can buy $24.00 worth of books (about 60% off!). You won’t find this offer anywhere else! Call DGM toll free (in the USA … or using Net2Phone or equivalent) at 1-888-346-4700 to order using Visa, MasterCard or Discover Card, or send a check to Desiring God Ministries, 720 13th Ave. So., Minneapolis, MN, 55415. Or, you can e-mail them at DGMinistry@aol.com or visit their web page at http://www.desiringgod.org. Remember — you’ve got to tell them you saw the offer on Brigada. This offer is good through September 30, 1997, only. So if you’re outside the USA and you have to use air mail, better get it out the door today! :-)

CORRECTION: RIGHT DESCRIPTION, WRONG MEDIA
Did you see last week’s item, ” AD2000 VIDEO, RIGHT PRICE, RIGHT CONTENT, RIGHT TOOLS”??? If so, you probably thought, “Now how in the world did they capture all those web sites on video???!!!” You were right. The product is a CD not a video. But anyway, that makes it all the better!!! :-) So . . . how ’bout reading last week’s description again, but this time think about it as a CD!!! “Have you seen the AD2000 Adoption Guidance Program and Missions Resource Kit? The price is right… AD2000 is selling them for $5 (for quantities of 1-4, $4 for quantities of 4-10, $3 for 11-15 and 2$ for 16 and above)! Can’t beat that! Get yours from the
AD2000 and Beyond Movement
2112 So Circle Drive, suite 2112
Colorado Springs, CO 80906
(719) 576-2000.

Postage is on top of the above costs. Expect $1.10 extra for postage for a single CD. This thing contains the full copy of the videos for Praying Through the Window II and III, as well as Part V of Generation (which is part of a set that sells for like $80!), and tons more. Full content of several web sites (including Brigada, Caleb Project, and AD2000!). This is a great tool for those who don’t have live access to the web, but would like to refer to these resources and others. Grab one today!”

HAVE YOU HEARD ABOUT THE NEW VIDEO ON YEMEN?
The word on the street is that it’s a winner. The rumor is that Yemen, a People Apart is 14 minutes of absolutely beautiful video footage and good commentary on the land, it’s people, and the spiritual situation. If you want to see a great case study, apparently this one is tops. US$13 from Arab World Ministry, P.O. Box 96, Upper Darby, PA 19082. Email address of the producer is classified… and … this video is not available for distribution in the places [duhhhh] where it might not be welcome. :-)

ANTIOCH GATHERING OUTCOME: A NEW BUSINESS & MISSIONS CONFERENCE?
Did you catch wind of the Antioch Gathering last month in Phoenix? One delegate wrote… “A lot of interaction, networking, great workshops, sessions and worship. One very productive workshop was the business and mission track. A number of concrete ideas are being developed from the folks who took part in it.” One of them is to explore the possibility of establishing a business/mission conference on Brigada. The purpose of such a conference would be to network people who are interested in how business and missions can interact. It would include such topics as setting up businesses both at home and on the field as a way to support missions efforts, entrepreneurial business/missions (establishing businesses on the field to provide jobs and income), tentmaking, community development, and any other topic that relates to business and missions. Right now they want to see if there is enough interest to start a conference so if you are interested, let them know. Drop a quick email to Jack Straus at jbsmi@ix.netcom.com. Just say something like, “Yes, I’m interested.” And if you want to add some ideas, let him hear about those too.”

ARABIC, FARSI, MALAYALAM & CHINESE SCRIPTURES GO ONLINE
With the help of modern technology, God’s Word is now available in places where the Bible could result in political ostracism or outright persecution. IBS wrote this past week, “As part of our commitment to provide Scriptures, the International Bible Society (IBS) has added the complete Arabic Bible, the Farsi New Testament, the Malayalam New Testament and Chinese Scriptures to it’s Internet services.” Visit the International Bible Society online at http://www.gospelcom.net/ibs or email them at ibs@gospelcom.net and discover how the light of God’s Word is reaching to the dark corners of the world.

GLOBAL GLIMPSE ON YALTA
Yalta, a Ukrainian port on the Black Sea, is home to about 1000 Muslim Tatars. Each May 18 they march to commemorate the calamitous 1944 forced deportation of thousands of Tatars. But this year a Ukrainian Missionary who is a nephew of two KGB officers serving at the time of the mass relocation addressed the crowd and asked for their forgiveness for what had happened. The response has been very positive and the missionaries have been invited to start Bible discussion groups among Tatars who were touched by this show of concern for a dark chapter in their history.

Global Glimpse is compiled each week by John Hanna, Caleb Project, Littleton, CO.

HELP BUILD A STORYBOOK
Catherine Shuker 106447.3070@compuserve.com needs stories and object lessons that demonstrate inequality — like the difference between the “haves” and “have nots” — for a series of lessons she is presenting in schools. She’s featuring New Zealanders who work in Brazil with street kids and she’d like to find stories that are really “way out” and can captivate and motivate a bunch of bored highschool/primary school kids and get them focused on the world outside of their own. According to Catherine, these kids aren’t church kids and she’s not allowed to “overtly” preach to them! So… if you’ve got an idea for a story, comparison, drama, skit, illustration, audiovisual, whatever — if it can help Catherine communicate the need — she wants it. And, in the end, she’ll tie up the whole bundle of stories for us here at Brigada so you can “get” the results. She’s promised you’ll hear back from her via Brigada Today in a couple of weeks with information on how to get her file.

————————————–

… AND HELP PUT TOGETHER A SCRIPT LIST
And Joe Ciluffo 75457.3204@compuserve.com would like help on locating some good drama or mime scripts for church ministry teams to use while on short term trips. He’s looking mainly for scripts that are evangelistic in nature. Contact Joe if you can help… and he’ll give us all a report when he’s done! (You’ll hear about it here on Brigada, along with instructions on how to get it.)

GREAT NEW MINI-VIDEO FOR YOUR SUNDAY MORNING!
Well, here’s the latest new mini-video you can use on Sunday morning to reach deep into the hearts and souls of your church or small group. And the price is right. “Kids These Days” is a seven-minute video focusing on the tragic plight of the world’s children. There has been much written lately about the 4/14 window, children between the ages of 4 and 14, who are highly susceptible to the best and worst in today’s world. In too many places, the 4/14 window is dirty, broken, and often seems painted shut. I hope this video serves as an eye opener, a discussion starter, a motivator-especially for the youth and young adults in the U.S. who have so much to offer in the name of Jesus. “Kids These Days” can be ordered for $9.95 (plus $3.00 shipping and handling) from Good News Productions, International by calling 1-800-457-GNPI (4674). Also included on the tape is the 50-second “Isaiah 61,” a simple call “to be more like Jesus.” For more info, email gnpi@xc.org or fax 417-782-3999.

WANNA RUN AN AD TO HELP A MISSION AGENCY?
CSC hopes you do. Christians Sharing Christ (CSC) of Ball, Louisiana, 318-640-4900, Fishville@aol.com, is a non-denominational mission agency asking you to consider placing the following ad in the classified ad section of your local American newspaper:

“16 MM PROJECTORS WANTED! If you have a 16 MM projector at your home, office, or church which is gathering dust and you want them active again winning others to Jesus, then donate your projectors by delivering them to (the name, address and phone number of your local church).”

CSC claims that if you’ll agree to spend a few dollars to run this ad for about a week, it will generate the donation of many projectors to this ministry. Now… I can’t personally verify the accuracy of their theories, but since I’m a sucker for creativity :-) I thought it at least important to let you hear their approach. If you have questions, email them directly if you’re willing to place this ad. CSC has said they would pay for all shipping costs to Ball, Louisiana. They reportedly have film teams working in 17 nations around the world right now showing evangelistic films in open air forums as a way of planting churches in places where there are none. They say there are many other workers who would like to show films but they do not have the projectors. So — if you’re interested in this innovative approach, contact them directly.
