FROM YOUR ROVING BRIGADA REPORTER

telephone By Friday, I hope to be in North Africa, trying out a new rental cell phone service available from the USA at (888)967-5323. (Apologies to our international audience… since I don’t yet know about any international version of such a service.) Apparently you pay something like $7/day to rent a cell phone that’ll reportedly work in any one of 80 countries or more. I say “reportedly” for now… but if you get a Brigada Today this coming weekend, you’ll know “assuredly”! You see, I’m headed to a country in North Africa where even AOL has no points of presence! (I didn’t even know there were any of those left!) So we’re renting a WorldCell phone with the PCMCIA hookup and trying to beam back the ole’ email. If you don’t hear from us for two weeks, somebody throw a lifepreserver! :-) (Also, if I may ask, try to go easy on email these next few days… :-) My travel wallet will appreciate it. :-) Those international cell phone minutes. Ouch.) ‘Course, by the end of February, this will all be pointless, since Spring PCS has worked out a deal with both the local GSM networks in Europe and the rest of the world as well as with Iridium (the satellite phone people) to offer a $3500 phone that’ll give you 10 cents/min. in the USA, $1.99 on an international GSM network, and $4.99/min from anywhere in the world via the Iridium sat. phone. The hardware is still a tough sell… but the per minute rates will continue to fall over time. Yahoooo! :-) Stay tuned for more info. on these developments. By April, the Iridium should send data… and the Iridium phone doesn’t have to be aimed at the satellite like other satphones. It looks like a cell phone that pigged out at the ice cream parlor… but otherwise, it’s just a handheld set.

NET2PHONE OFFERS INT’L CALLING “ON THE CHEAP”

telephone Thanks to Danny dannypeggyatyahoodotcom  (dannypeggyatyahoodotcom)   for reminding us to feature Net2Phone again. As we’ve mentioned before, this service allows you to make phone calls… sort of… from your computer, via the Internet. As you can already guess, browse http://www.net2phone.com for more information. The prices range from a few pennies a minute (to anywhere in the world) all the way up to 50 cents or so per minute. Danny has offered to help people get started… and in exchange, somehow he (or any other mission you want to designate) gets a kind of “commission” of $10 or so. See Danny for more information.

CATCH THE LATEST ON COMPUTER VIRUSES AND HOAXES

OPC logo Wow! blinking1eyes Talk about striking a nerve! We received a bunch of mail from users who agreed that it was time for a protocol such as the “Brigada OPC” approach… “verifiable origin, purpose, and closure.” Several commented that maybe we were a little harsh on prayer requests. One reader said that, at a minimum, maybe we could ask that users specify a closure date on their emails, then send out a similar notice explaining any answered prayers or victories.

Either way, as each day passes, more of these hoaxes seem to blossom. Basically, anytime anyone sends you something with lots of exclamation marks, don’t listen to it!!! :-) Seriously, to verify the latest email warning you have (not to eat a certain kind of cookie unless you want Bill Gates to transfer to your college and have his way paid by Walt Disney, Jr.), see these web sites:

virus Pay special attention this month to an Internet “worm” known as happy99. For more info., see http://www.ciac.org/ciac/cnotes/990202Happy99.html. Basically, it comes in like a Trojan horse (as an attached file), then replicates its way onto your Winsock so you begin unknowingly transmitting the file to others. Choose from the links below to download virus avoidance programs (along with updates that will keep the latest stuff, including Happy99, away from your hard drive):

ADVANCE!

(Beginning with this item, Mark Kelly’s Advance! newsletter will be presented in much shorter nuggets within the text of Brigada Today. Mark recently changed formats and he is now no longer assembling the monthly version.) Fewer than 500 believers are known among the world’s 20 million Sindhis. About 17 million Sindhis live in Pakistan, where they are almost entirely Muslim. Three million Hindu Sindhis live Maharashtra, Gujarat, or the Hindi-speaking states of India. A minority of Sindhis have emigrated to South Africa, Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Europe, and the United States — where they can be reached by believers sensitive to the internationals God has placed in their midst. Ask God to touch the hearts of believers for the Sindhis who live in darkness. Ask God to strengthen the tiny Sindhi church and multiply their numbers. Pray that other believers would acknowledge that God is calling them to take the good news of his love to the Sindhis of Pakistan and India. (Advance is assembled by Mark Kelly,

GLOBAL GLIMPSE FROM TURKEY

world globe Christians are boldly proclaiming the gospel in mostly Muslim Turkey, and from their boldness they are gaining more freedom and becoming more accepted. On Christmas Eve Christians distributed 1,200 New Testaments and hundreds of audiotapes telling about the life of Christ in Istanbul’s main shopping district. Most people warmly received the handouts and police officers did not interfere, something impossible a few years ago. Christians in Ankara hosted a Christmas drama in a hotel that attracted more than 1,000 people. They distributed gift packets including New Testaments and literature. More than 250 people indicated on a survey that they wanted to hear more about Jesus, and several prayed to become Christians when workers visited them. Istanbul now has an evangelical newspaper, and a Christian radio station. International prayer efforts are partially credited for the new openness.

COME TO PRACTICE “FIT”!

soccer ball I always look forward to the first Tuesday in February. That’s when our outdoor soccer team starts regular practice again. About a year ago, when we restarted practice, I had really let my fitness slide over the winter break. When we restarted, it hit me like a ton of bricks that I just wasn’t ready.

So this winter, I vowed to somehow find a workaround. When Christmas came, and our team began its winter break, I searched for an indoor team and sure enough, found two different teams that took me as a sub. I played at least one game per week and sometimes two. And the pace was fast! At least a couple of nights, I played back to back full-length games and loved every minute of it!

Last Tuesday, when I walked out on the (outdoor) field, Sergey greeted me with a “Happy Groundhog Day!” (He had either studied the USA tradition or maybe seen the movie — either way, he was ready.) Unfortunately, since it was the first practice, only 4 of us showed up, along with the coach. So, for better or worse, he paired us up (I got to play as a partner to Sergey) and we played 2v2 all night! Wow blinking1eyes — talk about a great workout.

About 2/3 of the way through the practice, one of the two guys on the other team named Allen paused for a moment and asked, “Hey — what have you been doing all winter, Doug? Did you play indoor?” I smiled. He could somehow sense that I hadn’t just been sitting on the couch all winter. I nodded yes and he replied, “I thought so. You’re still running!”

I’ve read that internationally-acclaimed USA women’s soccer coach, Anson Dorrance (one of the winning-est coaches of all time), used to tell his players, “If you don’t take personal responsibility for your fitness this winter, don’t come back to practice in the spring.” He apparently meant it. All winter long, his girls’ soccer team would work out just like he was sitting there watching them the whole time! And when they came to the first practice, nobody had to ask. You could tell that they had been working on fitness all winter long!

So I began thinking… Why can we easily see the point of physical fitness, yet just as easily miss the point of individual spiritual preparedness. For example, every spring our organization pulls together a group of recruits for Pre-Field Orientation, prior to their traveling all over the world as summer missions interns. Over the past 15 years we’ve seen some pretty unprepared people. One year, the interns wouldn’t even finish their days out. I’d find them back in the hotel playing cards, long before suppertime. Another summer saw a couple of young ladies who seemed to want to wear inappropriate clothing no matter what we said or did.

So I guess this year, I’m appealing to all the new missionaries… to please show up “fit.” Be ready to work hard, listen, follow the lead of your host missionary, and dig into the Word. Be a man or a woman of prayer. Make up your mind right now that you’re going to be as flexible as you can be. Train your heart and mind to say, in unison, there’s nothing that Satan can throw at me this summer that can shake me from my commitment to be the very best new missionary I can be!

If every team member came with that kind of fitness and attitude, 2v2 would be all the more fun. :-)

Can’t wait for practice tomorrow night. Love it.

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! PROPOSED: AN EMAIL VIRUS PREVENTION PROTOCOL

virusOkay. Uncle! (Enough is enough!) I’m as patient as the next guy or gal (maybe more so, in fact), but I’ll be perfectly content if I never see another “AOL Gold” message that urges me not to open a particular email that’s going to erase my hard drive! Don’t we all have enough email to read without fluff???

And now the latest rage is all the prayer requests, many of which seem to be unverified and undated. So we don’t know if they’ve floated around for 3 days or 3 months! And what’s more, so much of this stuff is totally useless. I mean, how in the world will Walt Disney’s son (Walt Disney never even had a son named “Walt”! As a matter of fact, he never even had a son!) or Bill Gates know if we forward this email 5000 times? And, how will our emails help save Sesame Street, stop nuclear war, or preserve Afghan women? The government isn’t going to impose long distance rates for Internet access, there are no “Good Times”, and even if your email says “guts to say Jesus”, it still won’t erase your hard drive. Neither The American Cancer Society nor ” Valley Children’s Hospital” will donate 3 cents per email (even if the story about the little girl is a sad one — Dave Matthews notwithstanding) for anything you write, Aspartame isn’t all that bad, you don’t have to “join the crew” and you can’t “win a holiday.” Jessica Mydek doesn’t exist, forget “penpal greetings,” and, well, okay, so maybe the Neiman Marcus cookie recipe isn’t so bad…

But all in all, have you had enough of these things??? So here’s a proposal. What if all 9,000 of us covenanted together to never forward these things on again! Imagine what an impact it would have for the Kingdom of Christ! Just imagine the missionaries and all the newly discovered spare time they’ll have, not having to read about kidneys being harvested while we sleep!

So here it is… the newly proposed “Brigada Email Virus Prevention Protocol.” If you send it to 5 other people, you’ll receive a free trip to Mars! (Just kidding about the free trip!) Seriously, let’s try to watch for these key ingredients before we forward email:

  • VERIFIABLE ORIGIN: Does it have an author and a working email address or web site? If not, don’t forward it. If so, and if the content sounds questionable, then write the source and verify it. If you don’t get a reply or if the site is bogus, toss it. By no means forward it to everyone in Zanzibar!
  • VERIFIABLE PURPOSE: Will it make an actual difference if I forward it? Think about it: why would 1000 emails help Muslims treat Afghan women any better?
  • VERIFIABLE CLOSURE: How will we know when it’s complete? Does it have a cut-off date?

So next time you compose a prayer request, or an urgent news update, or whatever, make sure it meets the “Brigada OPC Test” — Origin, Purpose, and Closure. If not, please don’t forward it to me. :-) OPC
There now. Are we done with all those for good? I doubt it. :-)

NEW TRIBES CALLS FOR WORLDWIDE PRAYER JAN. 31

Sorry for the short notice… (like “same-day”!) but New Tribes Mission (NTM) is asking Christians around the world to unite in a Day of Prayer (today) January 31, for Dave Mankins, Mark Rich and Rick Tenenoff. These missionaries have been held for 2,191 days and NTM believes (as do we all) that it is time for them to be returned to their families. NTM is calling for prayer that God would intervene in a way that will bring a positive end to this long and uncertain ordeal. Pray for wives, Nancy, Tania and Patti and their families. No email follow-up is necessary. For more information, browse http://www.ntm.org/hostage/index.html.

YOU’VE GOT MAIL!

lighting the way What a great batch of letters we received following the “Why are you doing missions” (‘back page’ editorial in last week’s Brigada Today)! One mission minister wrote, “…What you had to say really woke me up to the fact that God has given me more than I can think or imagine, and that it had become routine in such a short time. I really feel what you had to say was a gentle reminder that I need to be grateful and humble that God has chosen me to serve in such an awesome task of mobilizing the Church to obey His command. Thanks Doug, and may God Truly Make Your Day!”

GLOBAL GLIMPSE FROM BARIPADA

world globeAustralian missionary Graham Staines and his two sons were outside a village northeast of Baripada (Orissa) where they had attended a Bible study program. While they were sleeping in their old station wagon, a mob of 40 people, some armed with bows and arrows, attacked and doused the vehicle with gasoline, setting it ablaze, and beating up any bystanders who tried to rescue the family, police said. Police arrested 49 Hindu radicals suspected of burning to death Graham Staines, 58, and his sons Philips, 10, and Timothy, 8. Of the 200 families in the village, about 30 have embraced Christianity in the last two decades. Graham’s ministry also included assistance for recovered lepers and clean water for schools. His sons were visiting on vacation.

FOUR YEARS WITH BRIGADA

Brigada LogoBelieve it or not, only one other person on our list of 8671 people can claim to have been a part of Brigada since the very beginning. He is Jonathan Marsden, of Redlands, CA, the MAF “techie” who assembled much of the early infrastructure to make Brigada possible (beginning way back on Jan. 25, 1995). Those first few awkward exchanges were brainstorming messages between Doug and Jonathan… and the rest, well, the rest is history. On March 21, 1995, Brigada officially opened publicly for business. By that time, 95 brave new subscribers had joined the family! Thanks to the tireless work of our WebServant volunteer, Bob Mayhew, you can view past issues of Brigada Today in the archives at http://www.brigada.org. He’s gone all the way back to the very beginning now… so you can even look at the initial proposal papers! Thanks Bob!

INDIA AFLAME WITH PERSECUTION

Did you see the wire services’ pickup on persecution in India? Australian missionary Graham Stewart Staines, 58, and his 9 year old Philip and seven year old Timothy were burnt alive in their jeep when a Hindu crowd poured gasoline on the jeep and burnt them alive. Two other Australian sleeping in the church were able to run and escape the mad crowd. Locals say the police aren’t taking much action. Gulp. gulp According to one Brigada participant from within India, nearly 100 churches have been torn down and ransacked with many pastors beaten and kicked. Some nationals are calling on believers from throughout the rest of the world to rouse governments to action so that the killings would stop.

KAHUNA: THE REAL STORY

lighting the wayWhew! I feel redeemed! I got a great note this past week from an SIL consultant based in Papua New Guinea. He was formerly based at the East-West Centre in Hawaii. He must have invested an hour or more looking up backgrounds on the word, “kahuna” so he could properly document my alleged misuse of it (see “HAKUNA KAHUNA” from last week and “AD2000 IS ALIVE AND WELL” from the week before). Now granted… this might seem like no big deal to you maybe, but to Russ, the SIL guy — I mean he took it seriously! It was like he wanted to defend me to the world! He quoted from Hawaiian dictionaries (and documented everything and had even interviewed Hawaiian native speakers about the term. Bottom line: a kahuna was actually a member of the priestly clan within the Hawaiian social structure. In the Pukui-Elbert Dictionary of the Hawaiian language, which gives many sorts of kahuna, Russ even found references to “kahuna ha’i’olelo,” lit: speaking kahuna, or itinerant preacher, “kahuna pule,” pastor, lit: prayer expert; and kahuna a’o,” a teaching preacher, pastor. Thanks for the time you invested, Russ!

GLOBAL GLIMPSE ON THE DAY OF PRAYER

world globe An estimated 200,000 local churches in 130 countries prayed for persecuted believers on Nov. 15, the 1998 Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church. In Katmandu, Nepal, churches held a combined prayer gathering for their persecuted brothers and sisters. In Cambodia churches united in prayer for religious freedom there and elsewhere. On Serge Square in Stockholm, Sweden, a sea of candles was lit to honor all that have died for their faith and to remind passers-by that millions of people still are suffering for the faith. Five million African listeners of “Radio Habari” participated through radio broadcasts in the Swahili language.

“WHY ARE YOU DOING MISSIONS?”

“Are you awakened by an alarm, or by a calling?” :-) An up and coming computer manufacturer adopted that slogan last fall and, I must admit, I haven’t been able to get it out of my mind. Of course, the slant they take is one you can guess. The full-page ad features a young computer jockey in khakis and a denim shirt home just in time to kiss his baby after a long day’s work, Micron laptop in a bag at his side. At the bottom is a subtitle, “Who are you doing it for?”

So from Micron we take a cue: “Do you get up in response to an alarm or a calling?” When the alarm goes off, do you hit the deck with expectation of the day? …or with a dread that makes you wish for nightfall?

I used to think that “right attitude resulted in right behavior.” But lately I’ve been realizing that “one-way processing” doesn’t always have to be the case. Sometimes our behavior can echo back, in a kind of feedback loop, and teach us something that helps us change our attitude.

So… I guess the lesson is simple… Buy a Micron computer. :-) (Just kidding. I’ve never owned one… but people say they’re nice. Still … that’s not my point.) My point is this: if life has gotten kind of “stale” for you lately, maybe you need to wake up and smell the coffee. Maybe there is something to be said for “going through the motions,” if your motivation is strong enough to believe again.

In Somewhere in Time, Christopher Reeve became so convinced that he could travel through time, he dressed in old clothes, rented a room in an old hotel (with lots of history), and just . . . .”concentrated” on traveling through time. Now granted… when I first saw that love story, I tossed it off as a fairy-tale. But have you ever been so convinced that you’ve been jet lag, only to have some spoiled-sport quip, “Yes, I know it’s 8pm here, but that’s 3am my body time.” Sorta’ jerks you back to reality, doesn’t it! :-) I always tell those people to just keep their reality to themselves. When I’m ahead of the game on jet lag, I want to keep it that way. I don’t want to face reality. I want to believe so strongly that it’s still “okay” to be awake, that I can even convince my body that the lie is true!

Well I’ve got news for you. It works even beyond jet lag.

Next time you feel like work is a drag, try investing yourself again. Next time you lose your “zeal” for language learning, or for your medical ministry, or even for Bible study, maybe it’s time to take a cue from Christopher Reeves. Maybe you won’t become a “superman,” but maybe God will wake up the original dream within you. Start stepping through the behavior that used to light your imagination and pray that God will reawaken it. Invest in children, take time with the elderly, listen to a story from a downcast “poor in spirit” street-person. Who knows… maybe you’ll wake up to more than an alarm the next day. Maybe you’ll go “somewhere BACK in time” and rediscover your original dream. And that right behavior just might rekindle your right attitude!

GLOBAL GLIMPSE FROM AN AWAKENING GIANT

world globe A growing number of Universities in China are establishing religion departments and inviting Christians from the West to lecture. This is an unprecedented opportunity for professors from Christian colleges to minister in China. Eric Burkin reports that as more people come to Christ, the need for their pastoral training is dire. “There’s such a huge amount of people coming to know Christ in all the churches in China today that pastors are overwhelmed with new Christians.” Training for personal devotionals and pastoral counseling is a great need.

THE BACK PAGE (EDITORIAL) – EXCELLENCE IS AN ART

Excellence. It’s been written about in all kinds of books, talked about on videos, and even preached about from pulpits. But over the past few nights, I’ve been learning about it from a project that my son, Christopher, has to do for Science class.

The assignment was to build a habitat for an animal — a Mountain Lion, in Christopher’s case. He came to me asking for help. He said several kids in his class were just going to draw a poster board of the habitat. He said he could really use the points and, besides, he really wanted it to be “awesome.”

We decided to start by visiting a hobby store nearby. There we picked up a book on building scenery for model railroads. I was fascinated by the look and feel of the stuff. This was certainly no posterboard.

What amazed me was what a difference $25 worth of the right materials would make! We built a plywood display case, used spray foam material to form up the landscape, and then formed it with a utility knife. We followed through with a step-by-step process to make the grass, trees, bushes, and we’re now in the final stages of building the pond and putting on the stones and other additional touches.

Chris seems pretty excited… In short, he says it’s “awesome!” :-)

We could have gone the posterboard route, like everybody else.

But for $25 bucks and a few fun evenings, hearing him say it’s “awesome” sure means a lot.

Can we learn to apply the same motivation to everything we do? What about that sermon, that presentation, that brochure or that correspondence course??? When will we learn to start a couple of weeks ahead and put some careful planning into it, so that when it turns out, we can stand back and say, “Awesome!”

At the same time, there are tons of distractions screaming for our attention. Some of them are actually very worthy causes. Somehow, we’ve got to figure out… what will we try to build that’s “awesome” and what are we going to have to say “no” to.

So… as you tackle the day’s projects… why not make up your mind right now to do some careful thinking and come up with an outcome that you’ll be able to call “awesome” when it’s all said and done! Then resolve to live with yourself on the projects which you have to decline – for sanity’s sake!

SUBMITTING CONTENT — To submit content or ideas to Brigada Today, first please get a copy of “Guidelines for submitting items to Brigada” Then, once you’ve composed your item in keeping with those guidelines, send your item for Brigada Today to DLucasatteamexpansiondotorg  (DLucasatteamexpansiondotorg)  .
Thanks to for hosting the Brigada mailing list.
Emphasis is placed on items relating to unreached peoples and challenges faced by those reaching them cross-culturally.

not symbolPLEASE DON’T SUBSCRIBE US TO YOUR LIST — It’s always better to ask before manually force-adding anyone to your list-serve or mailing list. Recently, tons of well-meaning people have been subscribing Doug to their lists. Since he often travels overseas, he doesn’t join many of those, for obvious reasons (like being charged big-time for overseas access). So as a general rule, please don’t bulk-mail us! See the note above if you’d like to submit items for Brigada Today. Thanks for understanding. Bottom line: We will never create Brigada Today items from bulk mail. Bulk mail gets deleted immediately — sorry. Nothing personal. We suggest you apply the same standard to everyone. Ask first!

OPCWARNING ABOUT FORWARDING EMAILS — Please, before forwarding any kind of request (even if it says “please send this to all your friends”), please check to make sure it has a VERIFIABLE ORIGIN, a VERIFIABLE PURPOSE, and a VERIFIABLE CLOSURE (OPC). By following this simple approach, many “email viruses” could be nipped in the bud… at least in the Brigada family. More information about the full Brigada OPC protocol is available. Thank you.

*** IMPORTANT ***
PROTECT YOURSELF FROM A NEW VIRUS

virusOkay… I’m the guy who is normally telling you to please stop sending the bundles of email about some boy in Kansas who’s going to die unless you remail this message (and its 2 million headers) to at least 698 people. Those are “email viruses.” They thrive on well-meaning people who are using up bandwidth on the Internet by relaying dishonest, unverified propaganda. But in this case, we’ve got a real live documented “Trojan horse” virus called “Picture.exe”. Once again, all email viruses thus far, it has to be executed in order to do damage to your system. As long as you don’t automatically execute attached files you receive with incoming email, you’re still okay. This should be akin to your aversion to assume that you can taste a delicious-looking brownie some anonymous person left in your mailbox!

For starters, you can see the CNN Interactive news article about this virus at: http://cnn.com/cnn/TECH/computing/9901/08/trojan.idg/index.html That’s where Jason first saw it. I then went to Symantec’s Antivirus Research Center (or SARC, which is one of the best bookmarks you can set if you want to check out these viruses) at: http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/picture-exe-th.html and Network Associates AVERT center at: http://www.networkassociates.com/about/news/press/1999/january/010899.asp By the way, you can use the Symantec site to upgrade Norton Antivirus and the NA site to upgrade McAffee Antivirus so it’ll pick up the virus automatically when it’s emailed to you.

If you don’t have an antivirus software monitor currently on your system, this little virus might be a tip-off to you that it’s probably worth picking one up. I like the McAffee product because for some reason it seems more straightforward to me to check incoming email (it’s all automatic) but the Norton product is supposedly just as good. Both are probably available via numerous web vendors (like http://www.warehouse.com/) and any computer vendor you can get to in your nearest big city. McAffee is available with Win98 and also in Eudora Pro.

Either way, you can check to see if the new Picture.exe antivirus has already affected your system. Just take a look (but don’t change) your c:\windows\win.ini file and find the “run=” line (usually the 2nd or 3rd from the top). If you see “note.exe” as one of the options, then you’re contaminated. Gulp. gulp If note.exe isn’t there, check your “download” folder and make sure you don’t have “picture.exe” as a downloaded file. (If you do, erase it and don’t execute it.) Either way, get an antivirus checker that monitors all incoming email and then you won’t have to worry about it. A word to the wise…

Thanks Jason. This is another good reason to be involved in the Brigada family. All it takes is one of our family of 8600+ people and… instantly, we can all be alerted to something important like this. God bless you brother!

GOD’S STORY ON THE WEB!

movie cameraThe God’s Story Project translates and distributes the Bible video, God’s Story: From Creation to Eternity. This evangelistic 80-minute overview of the Bible, Genesis to Revelation, uses the chronological storytelling format to present Jesus as the Savior promised by God. The “world view” incorporated in this video results in a powerful film which both delivers the Gospel and has a continuing purpose as a discipleship tool. God’s Story unique design (of having the narration on one track and the visuals, music and special sound effects on the second track) makes it extremely cost effective to translate into other languages.

http://www.gods-story.org/ has audio stream of God’s Story in some of the languages, offers details on the video’s impact and lists the multiple languages already available and how to get them. Ministries may obtain many of the foreign-translation masters of God’s Story for unlimited outreach in non-commercial areas for $2,500. If a master is not available in a specific language, some individuals or ministries may have the expertise to assist Jeremiah in either the translation of a script or foreign narration, or both. In these cases, cost to the ministry can be dropped to as low as $1,400 for a finished master. For more info. contact project the director damilleratproinetdotnet  (damilleratproinetdotnet)  .

GLOBAL GLIMPSE FROM N. INDIA

world globeHundreds of tribal people in a section of northern India are becoming Christians through the efforts of evangelists. The area is known for violent tribal clashes. Religion Today reports it is the greatest revival we know of at this time. “You don’t get this kind of revival without persecution, and bloodshed, and martyrdom. One comes with the other. The workers trust God for their protection. They take the threats before the Lord in fasting and prayer and ask Him to protect them.” Christians have been beaten, tortured with razor blades, and thrown from a speeding train, and six to 12 per year are martyred. Persecution of Christians in India is reported to be at its highest level in 50 years. Mobs of religious fanatics have attacked churches and Christian schools, dispersed outdoor gospel meetings, and beaten evangelists in dozens of incidents this year.
