  1. A TALKING BIBLE SUNDAY — Audio Scriptures International in California is offering a Free Copy of its revolutionary, new, patented Talking Bible in Spanish or English to the first 100 churches responding to this announcement in Brigada Today. The only condition attached to this offer is that the church must commit to demonstrate the Talking Bible during the worship service on its designated Talking Bible Sunday followed by a special offering to help provide Talking Bibles for those who cannot read. ASI’s free offer is intended to jump start a larger movement dubbed “The Talking Bible Sunday Movement.” ASI believes the time is right to launch a movement similar to the Gideons who give millions of printed Bibles to readers. A similar, parallel movement is needed now to provide Talking Bibles for nonreaders. Churches observing a “Talking Bible Sunday” will help ASI’s Talking Bible Project provide Talking Bibles with the translated Scriptures in audio in languages needed for the millions who cannot read. A church requesting a Bible or wanting more information should call ASI at 760- 745-8105.

  2. HELP WANTED: EDITOR/EVANGELIST FOR ONLINE MINISTRY TO MUSLIMS — Interested in winning Muslims to Christ? IsaalMasih.Net is a ministry of the Christian Answers Network, a non-denominational, faith-mission mega-site receiving over 1.3 million hits daily. Many missionaries spend a lifetime waiting for the kind of response that this site gathers on a regular basis! Their multilingual ministry to Muslims was created in early 2002 as a unique approach to sharing the truth about Jesus and the Gospel using terminology and a context that Muslims are most comfortable with–sensitive to their culture. This effective ministry regularly attracts seekers with an interest in Jesus and the Bible. If you’d like more information, please e-mail <mail@isaalmasih.net>. Or visit http://IsaalMasih.Net to chat live with the current coordinator.

  3. SHORT-TERM MISSION GEAR STORE DEFUNCT — Best we can tell, the short-term “mission store” reported on in last week’s Brigada Today is now defunct. The toll-free number no longer functions… and the website is no longer up and running. We apologize for any inconvenience. (We composed last week’s issue while helping with a retreat in the mountains of Tennessee and therefore couldn’t check to make sure all sites were current. Again — our apologies!)

  4. VOLUNTEER TRAVEL INSURANCE — Adams & Associates International offers several medical plans for volunteers traveling outside their country of citizenship for short and intermediate term mission service. For those on short term projects just ask for Volunteer Travel Insurance, which is designed for those who will not cancel their major medical insurance stateside. For longer periods of travel, when a domestic medical plan would not provide coverage, then ask for PLP Travel Medical Insurance. On-line enrollment is available, but they prefer to counsel each client first to best determine their respective needs. Contact Adams & Associates International at 1-800-922-8438 or by email at <aai@aaintl.com>. They’ve asked that you add “Brigada” to the subject line when sending an email message so they’ll know how you heard about them.

  5. AFGHANISTAN PRAYER VIDEO IN TWO VERSIONS WITH PRAYER BLITZ — This is a professional production, the first in the Carey Taylor Tool Box series emphasizing the importance of prayer for selected people groups. One version includes a creative emphasis on spiritual warfare, the other is more traditional. The one minute prayer blitz, suitable for youth groups, is included on the video and is also available in RealMedia format for free. Available in VHS, PAL, DVD, and VCD. Go to http://www.spearbooks.com to learn more and order online or email <info@spearbooks.com>.

  6. BE PART OF A SHORT-TERM MEDICAL MISSIONS TEAM — Project Compassion announces its 2003 trip schedule. Project Compassion has provided short-term medical missions trips for over 10 years. By partnering with missionaries, local churches, and health officials, Project Compassion conducts evangelical medical clinics throughout the world. Several churches have been planted as a direct result of these outreaches. Medical skills or not, you can be a part of evangelism with a short- term medical team. Check out http://www.ProjectCompassion.org for trip locations and details. You can also e- mail <info@ProjectCompassion.org>.

  7. WORLD PRAYER CENTER OFFERS SITE — According to my good friend Dan, there is now a way to have your most urgent prayer requests remembered by thousands of people around the world at the speed of light. Whenever you have a need, post your request to this service anytime of the day or night, 365 days a year, and it will be prayed for immediately, not hours or days later. According to Dan, a team of concerned Christians all around the world is waiting right now to pray for your needs, or to welcome you to join their team to pray for others. It is all very high- tech, operated in real-time on the Internet. Dan says you’ll have to see it to believe it, so check it out now. Go to: http://www.worldprayerteam.org By the way, the World Prayer Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado, operates the site. Dan insists that there is never a fee and that all names are kept confidential.

  8. TESOL TRAINING/PRACTICUM AMONG UNREACHED PEOPLE GROUP -– Asia’s Center for TESOL has a five week intensive TESOL course taught by an experienced American instructor and includes a teaching practicum among students of an unreached people group. The course dates are April 7th – May 9th, 2002. The cost is only $500 US dollars, this includes board, lodging, 5 books, and curriculum. The cost for Philippine citizens is P15,000 pesos. 9. XBRL INTERNATIONAL’S MISSION — “Transforming Business Reporting” took on new urgency and importance in 2002. High profile financial abuses in the United States and elsewhere brought unprecedented international focus on accounting practices and the need for greater transparency in financial reporting. The XBRL International consortium represents over 170 organizations around the world committed to transparency and the efficient transfer of information. In that spirit, see the XBRL web site at http://www.xbrl.org . In particular, if you’re into those sort of discussions, see the white papers at: http://www.xbrl.org/resourcecenter/whitepapers.asp?sid=21 (Thanks Ed!)
