  1. SAFE DRINKING WATER FOR RELIEF EFFORTS -– TealBrook Supplies, a regular Brigada sponsor, offers a portable water purification system that is excellent for relief situations, operating on gravity, making the water microbiologically safe. With the tragic news of the earthquake and resulting disaster from the tsunami there is currently a need for safe drinking water and that need will be growing. If you’re involved in relief efforts contact TealBrook by visiting their website at http://www.tealbrook.com or emailing them at info(at)tealbrook(dot)com [As a means of preventing spam for our contributors, in the preceding email address(es), please replace (at) with @ and (dot) with .] (Thanks again for the faithful help, Mike and Deb!)

  2. THANKS TO OUR SPONSORS; COULD YOU HELP MAKE THE DIFFERENCE? — Thanks to Impact Ministries http://www.impactministries.ca/ for their sponsorship gift of $80 today! They have needs of their own, but wrote, “As I was praying about “our” need, the Lord spoke to me about first helping you with “your” need. In reality…it is all “His” work. :) Being located in north central Guatemala, it is wonderful to have a link via Brigada to what is happening in the rest of the world. Thank you for being a blessing and encouragement! Les Peters, Impact Ministries Canada, Ministerios Impacto Guatemala.” (Thanks again, Les!) Would you like to join Les in one last push? So we can make our 2004 goal of being able to pay our Brigada-sponsored secretary? If so, just click “sponsor” in the top menu (to use PayPal or a credit card), or just send a check payable to Team Expansion to: Team Expansion (Brigada secretary), 13711 Willow Reed Dr., Louisville, KY 40299. Thanks! As always, be sure to let us know if you’d like us to promote any particular service or ministry, or if you’d prefer your gift be anonymous. We’ll keep the website updated throughout the week… Just go to the Brigada site to see if we’ve reached the goal… and we’ll count any gift sent this week as if it came in during 2004. Starting next Friday, Jan. 7th, we’ll begin a new year. To celebrate a great year (though we’re a long ways yet from our goal of $16,140, still, $9000 or so from our readers is a great year!), we’ll go into “minimal mode” about sponsors for the first month. But at the same time, by faith, we’ll try to commit to another year with our Brigada-sponsored secretary. Gulp. :-) By the way, remember in 2003, we had one single gift of $9000, so subtracting that one special gift, we actually *increased* donations/sponsorships in 2004. Again — a big thank-you to all those who helped!

  3. WE APPRECIATE CHRISTIANS IN CRISIS MINISTRY — If you get a chance, stop by the website at… www.christiansincrisis.org An anonymous friend there just sent $25 for our end-of-the-year push. Thanks!

  4. BLESSED HOPE CAN HOOK YOU UP WITH GREAT PHONE SERVICE — Cellular contract ending soon? Or new to cellular and wonder where to start? Want access to all the major providers in your area? Now you can get a great plan *and* benefit Brigada with your sign up! With a wide variety of plans available nationwide (in most areas), you should be able to find what you are looking for through Blessed Hope Communications. Plus most plans have FREE phones, some have cash BACK and many have FREE accessories to boot. For every sign-up processed through Brigada’s link, Brigada will earn a $50 bonus ($20 with the prepaid plans). Let your cell dollars COUNT! Visit http://www.lowermyphonebill.com/brigada and click on the cellular graphic. (You might want to also check out the long distance rates in your area while you’re there).

  5. GREAT RATE ON OVERSEAS CALLS — Save on overseas phone calls and help support Brigada – go to http://www.brigada.org/phone.html for more information.

  6. BIBLE SOFTWARE FOR MISSIONARIES — Overseas missionaries can get excellent Bible software that works in 25 languages for only $10, shipping included. Most of the program is also available for download for free. One of our readers, a missionary by the name of Kerby, has been using Online Bible (OLB) for years and recommends it. OLB includes Strong’s Concordance, Thompson Chain Reference, 22 English versions of the Bible and many other languages. The program also can display two or more language versions of the Bible at the same time, which you can display on an overhead or video projector. This makes life easier for missionaries still learning a foreign language, and helps the listeners as well. Mac, DOS, Windows and Palm Pilot versions are available. Go to: http://www.onlinebible.net (Thanks Kerby!)

  7. WEBSITE REVIVAL — “Website Revival” pulls together Christian web developers passionate about serving churches and ministries in communicating the glorious Gospel of God’s grace effectively on the web! Website Revival has a special program that allows its church clients to offer discounted sites to the ministries they sponsor. Are you a Christian web designer or developer? Website Revival offers developer licenses to their content management system. E-mail Eric eric(at)newfangled(dot)com for more info. Intercessors UK is a newly launched web site with the aim of encouraging born-again believers from all denominations to intercede for the UK. They use a special prayer schedule strategy to cover the week with prayer, 24 hours, 7 days a week. They pray about issues such as Church unity, the media and Islam. The site can be found at http://www.intercessuk.org or email Ian at this address if you’d like any further information: facilitator(at)intercessuk(dot)org [As a means of preventing spam for our contributors, in the preceding email address(es), please replace (at) with @ and (dot) with .]

  10. THE BACK PAGE: PRAY FOR THE VICTIMS & FAMILIES OF THE TSUNAMI — As you celebrate the new year tonight and this weekend, please remember to lift up all those who have lost loved ones… either literally or through painful death.. and ask God to speed aid and organization to the doom and confusion along those shores hit by the neutron bomb-like waves. May God bring peace to this troubled seashore. Let’s lift them up together…

  4. TENTMAKERS CONFERENCE IN CHIANG MAI CANCELLED! — We have been informed that the tentmaking track of the ITAG conference in Chiang Mai 6-12 February, 2005 has been cancelled due to very low registrations and scheduling conflicts with many other tentmaking events in the region. The facilitators of the tentmaker track regret the inconvenience this may have caused those who had plans of attending, but are also encouraged that so many other tentmaking events are taking place. To all tentmakers out there: Be encouraged, from the many many year end reports GLOBAL Opportunities is receiving from active tentmakers, it is clear that His kingdom is being built in places where His name has not been heard in increasing measure. All praise be to God for these heroes making a difference far from home. Contact Ari at ari.rocklin(at)globalopps(dot)org for more information. [As a means of preventing spam for our contributors, in the preceding email address(es), please replace (at) with @ and (dot) with .] To view the GO Christmas eCard go to http://www.globalopps.org (Thanks to Ari for the $20 gift he send toward helping us finish the commimitment we’ve made to our Brigada-sponsored Secretary.)

Each set comes with a student workbook and a teacher’s guide that allows someone with little or no teaching experience to have a powerful ministry teaching English. They also have a new training video to help teachers put the material into practice. To reach Dawson Media, a ministry of The Navigators, call toll-free (888) 547-9635 in the U.S. or (719) 594-2100 elsewhere, or fax them at (719) 594-2553. 1. INCREDIBLE OUTPOURING: $2000 GIVEN TO BRIGADA IN ONE WEEK! — What a week it has been! As you know, we’re trying to wrap up our 2004 year in the black so our Brigada-sponsored secretary can be paid. These gifts and her work make it possible for us to keep Brigada going out the door ontime and full of resources for you. Many recall what it was like prior to bringing her on board. We were sometimes as much as 6 months behind. Now, thanks to her work, we are always at least within 1 week of the published date. (And that’s with her working just 3 days/week.) Thanks this past week to workers in Russia who sent $40, our good friends at the Chalmers Center who sent $200, and the ICE folks who sent $50 along with this note: “We so appreciate your ministry! Like so many Christian organizations that rely on you for networking, the International Council of Ethnodoxologists (ICE) is behind you 100%. May God bless you all the more in 2005 as you help so many participate in the spread of Christ’s kingdom!” We received a grand total of $568 from a “story-teller,” a tentmaker mobilizer with Global Opportunities, workers in Alaska, PA, the UK, Arizona, from a fellow missionary, from Denver, Texas, Panama. Want to help with the 2004 cost of our Brigada-sponsored secretary? This is absolutely your last chance. Just click “sponsor” in the top menu (to use PayPal or a credit card), or just send a check payable to Team Expansion to: Team Expansion (Brigada secretary), 13711 Willow Reed Dr., Louisville, KY 40299. Thanks! As always, be sure to let us know if you’d like us to promote any particular service or ministry, or if you’d prefer your gift be anonymous. Your gift can still be considered as part of the 2004 giving year as long as you postmark it by Dec. 27. So far, 2004 gifts total up $8,575.79 out of a total budgeted $16,140. What will happen if we run short? Well something will have to give. We’ll try our best make sure she’s paid, but it will have to come from somewhere. Please pray with us during this final week that God would empower a partner or several partners to step forward to make up the missing $7,500.

  2. “THE TRAVEL DOCTOR” WILL MEET YOUR TRAVEL NEEDS — We get support from The Travel Doctor, Grandville, MI, an organization dedicated to the health care of missionaries and other expatriates. Find them on the web at http://www.travdoc.com and http://www.pregnanttraveler.com Their services aren’t free, but the charges are fair and square and the knowledge can’t be beat anywhere. Trust them for your travel questions. (Thanks to the Travel Doctor for a $1000 sponsorship, the largest so far in 2004! They wrote, “Our accountant tells us that by giving to most charitable organizations, we can deduct 10% of our donation as a ‘charitable donation’, whereas by donating to Brigada, we can deduct 100% of it as ‘advertising costs.’ ” Yahooo! :-)

  3. INTERNATIONAL GROUP HEALTH INSURANCE FOR “COUNTRY SPECIFIC” TEAMS – Often it is difficult to get all workers in an agency on-board for group health insurance. But some insurance companies will provide group insurance for all workers in a specific country. If your agency is not able to provide an agency-wide group medical plan, it may be that you can provide a field-wide group plan. For more information on how to set up “country-specific group health coverage” contact: jeff(at)gninsurance(dot)com [As a means of preventing spam for our contributors, in the preceding email address(es), please replace (at) with @ and (dot) with .] or call 480/813-9100; Toll free in USA: 866/636-9100. The book is a great resource to help you communicate a video story — great for missionaries and ministry workers, too. (Thanks for their partnership gift of $25!)

  6. AD 2005 – THE YEAR OF THE TALKING BIBLE SUNDAY — Audio Scriptures International (ASI) in California in partnership with World Mission in Michigan is appealing to thousands of churches to participate in the Talking Bible Sunday Movement! They are asking congregations to designate one Sunday in AD 2005 as their church’s “Talking Bible Sunday.” Each church’s “Talking Bible Sunday” special offering will enable ASI to provide Talking Bibles in needed languages to Bibleless people who need Bibles but cannot read. Among Bibleless people are millions of Christians, many of whom are new believers, who cannot read. To enable them to learn God’s Word by listening, they urgently need Talking Bibles in their languages. ASI is asking people to pray that God will lead thousands of churches to observe a “Talking Bible Sunday” in this new year, AD 2005.
