A VillageWater unit provides EPA-quality water for 250 people, lasts five years, and costs around half the price of a well (~$5,000).  The Clean Water for 25,000 People campaign is getting clean water to the people who need it most, and is looking for organizations and churches that would be able to deploy one for their missions operations.  The VillageWater unit was recently presented at the UN Millennium Development Goals Summit and the UN World Water Week.  A VillageWater is completely self-contained (solar-powered, foot pump), doesn’t use chemicals or require replacement filters, ships in its own FDA-approved 55-gallon drum (which doubles as its water container), and sets up in about an hour.  The campaign is working with the production company to have units available in June 2011, and is looking for organizations that could sign up by January 2011.  For more information, contact Isaiah
