Lately, I’ve been fearing that, in our reawakening to transformational development, we’ll place a lower priority on church-planting. My own personal feeling is that we should be like Jesus, who cared for physical needs AND spiritual needs. He understood the importance of healing people, but he also made it clear that he was “all in” about making disciples of all nations. I felt it was really a good presentation. I’ve spent some time overseas & while I absolutely believe humanitarian efforts are needed (because Jesus often dealt with people’s physical needs before He handled their spiritual needs); I also think these efforts alone aren’t enough. People need to be grown up in a local church somewhere with a pastor & church family who’ll love & pray them into maturity. Crusades are wonderful, but only as a vehicle for funneling new believers into trusted local churches. We have a saying: Harvest isn’t harvest until it’s brought into the barns (the local church). Thus, I agree completely about the need for church planting!
