1) “Pay What you Can,” No Contract, Unlimited Mobile Service

solaveiWant unlimited talk and text for $29/mo? Unlimited data for another $10/mo? How about “pay what you can” for unlimited everything? Since before its September 2012 launch, Robby and Shane have experimented with Solavei’s referral program as a model for supplementing missionary support

http://www.brigada.org/?s=solavei

(Solavei shares its profit with customers *WITHOUT* common MLM practices like high up front costs and expensive training.) Read Robby’s latest reflections on this experiment here:

“Better Business: Sharing Profits with Customers”
http://themissionnetwork.org/2013/11/11/better-business/ and

“Turn 50%+ of your Mobile Bill into a Donation or Income”
http://themissionnetwork.org/mobile-donation/

Robby needs just a few more enrollments for a big monthly bonus. So he is ready to handle all the details of moving or starting your service, and discuss a “pay what you can” arrangement for those who contact him first

or 360 420-5634. By the way, the plan allows for unlimited international calling to Kazakhstan and 58 other countries for another $10/mo.

2) Would You Consider a Year-End Gift to Jesus through Brigada

Brigada is a small effort with a huge goal: To grow the knowledgebase, the resources, and the on-site workers for unreached peoples all over the world, in the name of Jesus Christ. When you give to Brigada, your money pays for the production and distribution of mobilization materials, to send out news and notes about unreached people worldwide, and to gather/distribute trends, motivation, and resources. Learn more at…

http://www.brigada.org

where you can just click “Donate” in the upper right corner. In fact, on a regular basis, Brigada sends out helpful resources to workers throughout the entire world. Not a single worker has to pay any subscription fee. The Brigada website offers up 18 years of archived resources, completely free. Visitors don’t even have to register. Unfortunately, we do have expenses. We cover the costs of a part-time assistant, pay for hosting and server fees, do light marketing, as well as a substantial array of help in outreaches to unreached peoples and cities. How is this possible? Because of the kindness and unselfishness of people like you. If only a few dozen readers sent a $100 end-of-year gift, our entire annual budget would be done… and, like always, we wouldn’t mention finances again for an entire additional year. Want to help? Click “donate” at the top of any Brigada page, or, mail a check made payable to Team Expansion (Brigada), 13711 Willow Reed Drive, Louisville, KY 40299. Team Expansion is a 501(c)3 incorporation so, for USA citizens, your gift to Christ through Team Expansion is tax-deductible. We’ll quickly send a thank-you note and receipt. We won’t add you to any mailing list unless you request it. Thanks for your prayers, your partnership, and your participation in the Brigada family!

3) Mobilizing Millennials to Stop Child Trafficking

audaciousIf you know a teen or young adult who is passionate to stop child trafficking but doesn’t know where to plug in beyond liking a zillion Facebook cause pages, a new mobilization tool can help them. If child trafficking makes you angry,” Diana Scimone, president of the Born2Fly Project to stop child trafficking, tells youth, “it’s because God put that anger inside you.” Scimone’s new book, Audacious, helps teens and young adults find God’s plan for them to fight this injustice. (Hint: They’ll learn about His plan for the rest of their lives, too.) The book includes dozens of “What’s the big idea?” creativity exercises to help youth unlock their own audaciously big idea to end child trafficking — or whatever issue of injustice God has put on their hearts. For more information:

https://born2fly.org/Audacious.html

While you’re on that site, you can download Born2Fly’s anti-trafficking curriculum for children, teens, and young adults. It’s free and available in many languages.

4) Mission to Unreached Peoples becomes Act Beyond

beyondUnder the leadership of Kent Parks, MUP has a new name: Act Beyond. The organization has re-visioned and re-structured, in order to play a key role in starting disciple-making movements that explode into thousands of obeying churches and millions of believers. View their video which outlines the vision and process:

http://www.beyond.org

The organization believes God has called them to Act Beyond what they have done before. The new name focuses on God’s amazing ability to Act Beyond all that can be asked or imagined. It invites new missionaries. It invites advocates who champion the cause of UPGs through partnerships. It pushes beyond old patterns that do not change societies from within. The strategies, results, and dependence on God will be well “Beyond” any human endeavor. For more info, contact

5) New Bookmark Aimed to Develop Godly Stewards

bookmarkChris McDaniel, Author of Igniting a Life of Generosity, has just released a new bookmark for churches, missionaries, and agencies to inspire Christians to faithfully steward their time, talents and treasures. Growing godly stewards is one of the most pressing issues facing the Church. The Stewardship Bookmark is designed to be a quick-reference tool that churches and ministries can give to their constituents as a practical “take away.” Ideally, this new tool will compliment a stewardship series, class, or workshop or can be given out in a regular mailing as a thank you at year-end. The content has been designed to help Christians understand that growing as a steward is a key component of discipleship. The front of the bookmark outlines a four-phased growth process of a disciple with supporting Scriptures that relate to stewardship. Those phases are: Come and See, Follow Me, Deny Yourself, and Take up Your Cross. The back of the bookmark highlights some of the most prevalent lies from Satan and the opposing Scriptures that guide to truth. The Stewardship Bookmark can be ordered online at

http://www.stewardshipbookmark.org

Bulk and quantity discounts are available.

6) Got Ideas And Best Practices About Recruiting Missionaries?

Anglican Frontier Missions is in the process of collecting resources for how to recruit laborers for unengaged and unreached people groups. If you have any materials, websites, resources, etc you could share, please email to infoatafm-usdotorg. We will post our findings to Brigada. Thanks so much. Julian

7) Looking for Hardware for Backups?

Consider the Seagate Expansion 3 TB USB 3.0 Desktop External Hard Drive (STBV3000100). This unit has dropped in price recently, until now, in the ad this past week, it was just $99. That’s $33 per terabyte. I agree with Caleb — this is a steal. Find it by searching Amazon for the model number — STBV3000100. (For some reason, pasting in the link brought our newsletter-producer-plug-in code to its knees every time.)

10) If you Use a Mac and Need a CRM

If you’re looking for Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and you use iPhone, VIPOrbit seems like a perfect solution for you.

http://www.viporbit.com/apps-iphone.html

The app gives you advance control over “orbits” (groups) and various operations to them. You can also add custom fields and more. PLUS, if you also have an iPad and/or Mac laptop, you can use apps customized for those platforms and sync everything. Either way, the iPhone app is free.

11) What will you do about Obamacare?

Curious about how your org stacks up with Obamacare? Insurance Services of America wrote, this past week,…

a) ObamaCare does not apply while living and traveling overseas.
b) ObamaCare does not apply for domestic health coverage of 364 days or less.
c) ObamaCare can be mostly diverted for domestic groups via self-funding.

12) Retreats For Aspiring Missionaries

“The Journey Deepens” is a weekend retreat to help aspiring missionaries explore what it is like to be a missionary, discover whether a missionary or sender role is God’s fit, and connect with mission agencies. This is for college students, young adults, mid-lifers, baby boomers – anyone willing to explore becoming a missionary. Each retreat of about 25 participants and seven missionary coaches from multiple agencies is highly relational with extended worship, small group discussions, personal reflection and much prayer. Discussions include guidance, finances, singles/families, etc. Upcoming spring retreats are Seattle Jan 31-Feb 2, Indianapolis Feb 21-23, Portland Oregon Mar 14-16. These are presented by MissionNext and endorsed by Perspectives and the U.S. Center for World Mission. Missions coaches and agency recruiters may apply online

13) We Give Thanks…

God bless the anonymous donor who gave $300 as a gift on behalf of Qashqua’i nomads of Iran. God bless you, along with the people group you’re trying to reach. May He guide you and encourage you.

Another brother gave $250 from Eastern Kentucky. This couple is considering cross-cultural service. Would you please pray that God will guide them? Thanks!

God bless the gentleman who sent in $60 from St. Paul, MN. We appreciate you!!!

Thanks to the gentleman in Springfield, IL, who just gave $100. God bless you!

And thanks, especially, for the brother who gave $1000 “For Brigada in memory of Sally Lucas. Among other things, she did a great job raising her son!” (So sobered… may God bless you all!!!)

14) The BackPage: The Future of the Parsonage Allowance?

I’m curious. When you read articles like this one, questioning the future of the Parsonage Allowance tax credit….

http://seattletimes.com/html/nationworld/2022321470_clergyhousingxml.html

in what directions does your mind go? In summary, do you believe the USA will stop offering a tax deduction (exclusion) for members of the clergy? … and if so, should we care? Would you describe this credit as a “right” or a “blessing,” and why? What do you think will be next steps? To share your opinion, click into a “Comment box” below the online version. Thanks in advance for sharing your opinion.
