1) Experience God’s Heart for the Nations

See some great actors from Saltmine as they share God’s heart for the nations via dramatic readings at…

This free video would be a great addition to your next mission rally, banquet, or global outreach day. (Thanks to Marti, Publisher and Managing Editor of Missions Catalyst for pointing us to this great resource.)

3) Golf Discipleship Training School

golfOver 75 million people worldwide play golf and now that it’s a new Olympic sport, the game will develop further in unreached nations. Golf is already growing rapidly in China, Central Asia, Eastern Europe and the Middle East. Golfers at various levels are welcome to join this new missions training program in Phoenix, AZ for a 5 month YWAM Golf DTS in January of 2015. Learning how to make disciples in the world of golf and taking both the Gospel and your golf clubs is what this school is all about. For more information, visit:

7) New Edition of “Missions: Biblical Foundations”

missions bookDr. Gailyn Van Rheenen, Executive Director of Mission Alive, has just completed the 2nd edition of Missions: Biblical Foundations and Contemporary Strategies now available through Zondervan/Harper Collins. This 2nd edition is much more complete with eight new chapters and the other chapters are updated/refined. The Missions text has traditionally been used as a handbook for Missions for those going to the field. Find it on Amazon at

8) Learn More About Reaching Buddhists and Hindus

hindu brideWe asked recently for input on reaching Hindus and one of the greatest resources we found was Chela, which provides mentoring and coaching for those called to serve Hindus. Learn more by writing them at…

(Thanks to Marie, at the US Center for World Mission, for providing these pointers!)

9) Why Pray for a Terrorist?

atfpFind the answer to that question and a whole lot more at this “Adopt a Terrorist” site, recommended to us by anonymous Brigada participant, “A.” (Thanks!)

Jesus did say, after all, to pray for those who persecute us. You can choose a terrorist for whom to pray, get updates on his activities, and more.

11) Good Reading about the Church in Missions

booksIn a recent inquiry in Brigada, we asked for additional resources for local churches who were ramping up their involvement in missions. The comments yielded a virtual treasure trove of next step resources. Thanks to all those who took time to respond. Here are a few examples:

Tradecraft, by Crider, McCrary and the Upstream Collective team

Becoming Global by Bruce Dipple (SMBC Press). To order, (VISA & Mastercard accepted), phone Australia +1(02) 9747 4780, or Fax Australia, +1(02) 9747 5053, or mail: SMBC Press, PO Box 83, Croydon NSW 2132, Australia. Cost is A$15 plus postage.

When Missions Shapes the Mission by David Horner (B & H Publishing)

A Task Unfinished By Michael Griffiths (MARC publishing)

Antioch Revisited by Tom Julien (BMH books)

12) New Team Building Kit for Short-term teams and Others

teambuilding-kit-coverThe Team Building Kit is brand new resource that is ideal for short-term mission Team Leaders who want to unify their teams prior to departure. The kit includes 10 time-tested activities complete with instructions. Each activity has been designed to allow for hands-on experience and to help team leaders establish a platform for reflection and change. The Team Building Kit booklet, included with the Kit, provides an overarching objective, recommended group size, preparation steps, activity instructions, as well as a real-life scenario short-term teams will face on field for each activity. While designed for short-term mission teams, each activity can be modified to accommodate your specific need. Learn more at…

13) We’re Grateful for…

gratefulISA (Insurance Services of America) who sent $19.31 as a thank-you in honor of those who took advantages of their services at…

They provide insurance plans for those who need international health and travel insurance, as well as those who want to be reimbursed if their travel plans change or are interrupted by anything in any way. I’ve had to collect before — and it works. God bless you ISA!

14) The BackPage: Let’s Reprise Concerts of Prayer

concerts of prayerRemember Dave Bryant’s book, “How Christians Can Join Together in Concerts of Prayer?” I happened to be able to participate in a couple of sessions led by Dave Bryant himself (back in the 80’s) and, I’ll have to say, they were extremely moving. Let’s reprise this concept and “wake up” some much-needed prayer for our cities, regions, nations, and the globe. You might still be able to pick up a used copy of his book at…

But Nate and Paula Wilson have done us a huge favor by putting together this 18-page summary, now available to you at…

(Thanks Nate and Paula!)

Dave Bryant always encouraged us to pray for fullness (a vibrant church) and fulfillment (the global cause). He provided a virtual “script” so we would all be on the same page, as he moved us from large group prayer, to groups of 6, to groups of 3, to individual prayer, and back again. It was a great experience and should be revived.
