1) Would you be one of the 70? (to send a $100 gift to Brigada)

finish-lineCan you believe it? We’re within sight of the finish line. Due to the overwhelmingly gracious response of several core Brigada participants, we now need just under $7000 to complete the year’s budget needs of $17,120. Would you please join us in praying or just 70 people, each of whom would empower Brigada with a $100 gift, the entire budget could be met.

These 70 people could choose their approach: To give online, just scroll to the top of our website and click “Donate.” And you don’t need a PayPal account to give online. (If you reach a screen asking for your PayPal I.D., look on the left side of the screen, about halfway down, and find the prompt which says, “Continue without a PayPal Account.”)

If you’d rather send an old-fashioned check, just make it payable to Team Expansion and send it to: Team Expansion (Brigada), 13711 Willow Reed Drive, Louisville, KY 40299, USA. (And by the way, Team Expansion is a 501(c)3 incorporation so, for USA citizens, your checks made out to Team Expansion are tax-deductible.) And if you haven’t already done so, would you consider suggesting this cause to your local church missions team and/or global outreach pastor please? We appreciate you!

3) Indigitous Bangalore Conference To Focus On The Unreached

bangalore-indigitous-skylineIndigitous is coming to Bangalore February 13-15, 2015. Indigitous is a movement passionate about connecting people to Jesus using digital strategies. Their conferences offer the opportunity to learn new digital strategies, network with others who can partner with you to achieve your goals, and collaborate to create new tools and projects that will increase the effectiveness of your ministry.
The conference’s theme will be Reaching the Unreached Using Mobile Technologies. To register and get more information, visit:

4) Get Helpful Guidance for Sharing Christ in these 3-minute Videos

The Billy Graham Center for Evangelism created these training videos to help viewers learn how to start faith conversations with friends, family and neighbors. You can learn how to share with Jews, Muslims, skeptics, and others at…

5) How do we Reverse the Decline of Cultural Christianity in the West?

empty churchThe report at…

http://blogs.christianpost.com/dear-ephesus/empty-churches-the-decline-of-cultural-christianity-in-the-west-17067/

is indeed rather of a downer. For all intents and purposes, it would appear that Christianity as a way of life is not only on the decline, but in addition, it’s practically dying.

And yet.. take a look at…

http://www.onlinechristiancolleges.com/megachurches/

This is one area of growth for Christianity. There are others as well. Bottom line: as we crumble culturally, let’s strengthen as disciples. What’s your take? Just click “comment” after the web version of this item. Thanks in advance for participating.

7) British Airways Now Offering a Course on Surviving Emergencies

airplaneWe were excited to learn that British Airways has developed a course (for $265) to help frequent travelers and others learn the in’s and out’s of surviving aircraft-related emergencies. In view of the possible loss of another commercial plane this past week, this course seems particularly relevant. Learn more at…

At the above URL, you can even book and pay for courses online. (Thanks for the tip, Caleb!)

8) Is My country Experiencing More? … or Less Terrorism today?

vision of humanityThat’s just one of several key questions you can answer at Vision of Humanity’s “Global Terrorism Index” site. Using a cool slider, you can visually study the impact of terrorism on your own country through the past few years. And that’s just ONE of the cool stats at…

(Thanks for the tip, Pat and Missions Catalyst.)

9) If You’re Into Global Mental Health, Bookmark this Site

global mapWow.
If everyone created a “map” like this one for his/her particular domain, the world would be a much more informed place.
Wow.
When you scroll down through the wealth of material, you’ll wonder how in the world God can make a mind (or minds) so thorough. Check out the Global Mental Health Map at…

If you care about global mental health, you’ll be astounded. Even if you don’t (why not?), you’ll be amazed.

10) “Seeing Your World” Helps Clarify our Vision

seeing your worldWe’re excited about the new resource by Global Mapping International (GMI) called “Seeing Your World.” It delves into 10 different spheres: Urbanization, Women and Children, Migration, Challenges to Human Development, Communications technology, Languages, Human Traficking, Literacy, Orality and Education, Religon: Growth of Islam and “nones”
(nonreligous), Religon: Christian Trends, Growth, Funding, Workers and Persecution. In each section, working from the best available data, author Andy Butcher teams up with Christian leaders from around the world to explain the huge shifts in each of these 10 areas and how those shifts are forcing global workers to rethink the ways they minister in Jesus’ name. Learn more (and/or buy) at…

And yes — it’s available as an ebook.

11) How Did You and Your Team Spend New Year’s Eve?

new years eveDo the people of your chosen land have a unique tradition or way of celebrating New Year’s Eve or New Year’s Day? While serving in Uruguay, I remember they would nearly always serve ñoquis…

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gnocchi

Not sure why. The Italians invented it. But for sure — it was a New Year’s Day tradition. What traditions can you report on for our region? Are you able to ‘redeem’ any of these for the sake of proclaiming the Good News and, if so, how? Please click “Comment” after the web version of this item to share your story.

12) Idea: Copy & Paste this Text to Your Church or Mission Team

ideaWould you consider helping Brigada make ends meet for the new year? If so, would you copy and paste this text into an email to your Global Outreach Pastor, Missions Minister, Missions Committee or other leader in your local church?

Hello. I’m a big believer in Brigada. Each week, it comes to my inbox filled with resources, motivation, and trends regarding the Great Commission and how to fulfill it. Thousands of global workers around the world read it regularly. (If you don’t, may I humbly suggest you sign up at www.brigada.org. It’s free.) The funny thing is… they give away all their content all year long, then, in the final weeks of the year, ask if participants would be courageous enough to pitch in any amount to catapult their work forward into the new year. I’ve picked up items — a conference, a book, a website, a travel idea, etc. — and I know others have too. They’ve been churning out resources every week since January 1995. So here’s my question: Would our church have a small amount … any amount… remaining in the budget to help them meet their goal? They only ask for $17,120 for the entire year and they need less than $7000 to make their goal. I have a feeling if we help them, they’ll help many others fulfill the Great Commission. Could we consider it? If so, someone from our church could just click “Donate” in the upper right corner of their website, or, mail a check made payable to Team Expansion (Brigada), 13711 Willow Reed Drive, Louisville, KY 40299. (Team Expansion is a 501(c)3 incorporation so, for USA citizens, our gifts to Christ through Team Expansion are tax-deductible.)

If you’re willing, we’ll be grateful forever. :-)

13) We Give Thanks for …

beyond-blessed… Workers from Bristol, England, who gave $1000 toward Brigada’s work with unreached peoples! God bless you and your unselfishness!
… the Asbury United Methodist Church, Tulsa, OK, for giving $200
… International Outreach United (Holt, MI) – $100
… Qashga’I Partnership, reading out to nomads of Iran, $100
… The reader from Downs, IL, who sent $100 with a note that said, “Thanks for your continuing work and great info! Blessings to all!”
… The partner from Chesapeake, VA, who send $25 with a note reading, “I’d like to give this gift in honor of Doug Lucas, one of my kingdom heroes! (Plus he’s into soccer too!) :-) One can’t read Brigada without being inspired and goaded to action with the innumerable number of kingdom action points included in every Brigada action!” Wow Jim — thanks for the encouragement!
… Another long-term encourager wrote, “We LOVE Brigada! Thank you for all the work you do to keep all of us on top of the world of missions!”
“You could highlight Catalyst Int’l (Breathe Conference and Traction for Men Conference catalystintl.org )
… The ‘true fan’ from Davao City, Philippines, who sent $200, along with encouragement that read, “I have been receiving Brigada for almost 20 years. I am not a missionary but just an ordinary lay person interested in missions news and trends from all over. More power to Brigada and the people who work behind the scenes! We appreciate your hard work!” God bless you for encouraging those behind the scenes!
… The worker in Asia who sent $100, even though her own work is incredibly needy. God bless you!
… The doctor from Tucker, GA, who sent $25. May the Lord empower you!
… A faithful “True Fan” of Brigada wrote this past week to say, “We LOVE Brigada! Thank you for all the work you do to keep all of us on top of the world of missions!” This same fan asked that we highlight Catalyst Int’l and the associated “Breathe Conference” and “Traction for Men Conference” at…

http://www.catalystintl.org

So we’re happy to do so!

Also, we’re thankful for one of last week’s donors, who wrote to say that, with his gift, he “wishes to inspire more entrepreneurs to be BAM-focused in setting-up mid-size companies in unreached cities in China.” Lord, please make it so.

Finally, Thanks to the Mission Network, who sent $100 this past week because they believe in Brigada enough to make a monthly pledge of $100, partly because they want to dare other agencies, churches, and individuals to do the same. God bless you!!! Learn more about Mission Network at…

If you’d like to help as well, just click “Donate” in the upper right corner, or, mail a check made payable to Team Expansion (Brigada), 13711 Willow Reed Drive, Louisville, KY 40299.
