1) New: Returning Well Groups Bring Debriefing to You

Are you looking for a debriefing that leads to renewal right where you are, right when you need it? If so, consider “Returning Well: Your Guide to Thriving Back ‘Home’ After Serving Cross-Culturally.” “Returning Well” leads returnees in discovering how their recent season influenced them, how to re-integrate well, and what moving forward in faith means for them. “Returning Well” is complete in itself, but should you desire a group debriefing experience in addition, be sure to check out “Returning Well Groups” for women and couples with start dates beginning in April at

2) SRS Public Bootcamp Schedule

The goal at Support Raising Solutions is to flood the nations with spiritually healthy, vision-driven and fully-funded Great Commission workers. Are you struggling with raising support? They use biblical and relational support raising methods to equip you and help you reach your ministry assignment quickly. To learn more, visit…
http://www.supportraisingsolutions.org

They have SRS Bootcamp training opportunities from April 18-19 in Rogers, AR, and from May 18-19 in Hawthorne, NJ (New York City).

3) What’s your Take on “Signal” (a replacement for What’s App?)

Have you seen the latest from Whisper Systems?
https://whispersystems.org/

Their app, Signal, seems to have taken the secure instant messaging world by storm. But when we tried to install it, it (like so many other of these apps) asked us to release our entire contact list (in our phones) to the app. Of course, it promised us that Whisper Systems wasn’t making any permanent record of them. But if that’s the case, why do they have to ask?! In our opinion, these secure instant messaging systems would be a lot more secure if they didn’t ask for access to the 3000 or 4000 contacts installed on one’s phone. What’s your take on Signal?

4) If you have to Move a WordPress Site…

There are lots of options. Why would you have to move a site? Suppose you have developed your site on a URL that’s non-public, until you’ve worked out all the bugs. Now, you’re ready for the big unveiling. But how do you transfer it to the eventual destination URL? Easy. Install ALL-IN-ONE WP MIGRATION plug-in on your current working copy, as well as on your destination copy of WordPress (fresh install). All you need to know is the URL and the log-on credentials for a user with admin privileges. No MySQL setting to fool with. No FTPing. Just let the free plug-in do its stuff. And with any luck, when it’s done, all you’ll have to do is give your site a thorough read-through to make sure any status links are changed to reflect your new URL. Easy! Good luck.

6) Sorting out a Protocol at your Church/Group? Try RACI

RACI (pronounced “racy”) stands for being…

Responsible
Accountable
Consulted
Informed

When you’re facing a particular practice, behavior, or protocol, make a “RACI chart” to map out the delegation parameters for all the related work. Jot down who is responsible for carrying out the piece of work, how he/she is accountable, who has to be consulted, and who has to be informed. Learn more about RACI protocols at…

(Thank for the tip, Greg!)

9) A Documentary To Help The Work In Unreached Mozambique, Africa

Carla Chandler and her family have been conducting missionary work in Mozambique, Africa for nearly four years now. They have seen some of the worst living conditions imaginable. Mozambique is one of the poorest countries in the world with people living way below standard poverty levels. It’s unimaginable. Carla’s next project is a documentary film about the work they are doing there to bring more awareness and funds.

10) Secure Travel Training

Morton Security is once again putting on their extremely effective Target Hardening and Resiliency Seminars. The dates are April 20-22, June 22-24 and September in Phoenix, AZ . This training is specifically for faith based groups traveling long or short term. Their main goal is to teach you to avoid a crisis and when necessary react in a safe manner. Go to this link to sign up:

11) “Catalysts For Movements Internship”, October 2017 to June 2018

North Africa is a ripe field calling for new and experienced workers to join in the harvest here! The CFMI is a fast-start multi-organizational effort aimed at reaching every people group in North Africa. Their interns will learn Arabic language and culture while being mentored and equipped in Inner Healing, Intercession, Disciple-Making Movements, Effective Teamwork, Leadership, Kingdom Business, Training/Education and other Access ministries. 12) Locally Developed Children’s Bible Story Book for Haiti

“Stories for Life” is a children’s interactive Bible story and activity book, written by Claudia Hessing in Haitian Creole. It’s focused especially for parents and Sunday School teachers to address children growing up in nominal Catholic/Voodoo culture. The cost is just $2.00/book. To learn more, email Claudia at…
godbless_claudiaatyahoodotcom or call
509-3851-2797 or 509-3210-2715 in the USA. The group would even consider donating the booklets to other ministries if needed.

13) We’re Grateful for…

The $30 gift from the folks at “Returning Well,” a book — and groups — about reentering one’s home culture after cross-cultural work. Learn more at…

http://www.returningwell.com/groups.html
and another $30 gift from “Fund the Ministry.” Learn more at…

https://fundtheministry.com/

and a couple from Waynesboro, VA, who sent $50, along with a note, “Thank you for your ministry.” God bless you guys!

Would you consider sending a cash gift of any amount to help empower Brigada like the above ministries did? It’s easy to give. Just please click “Donate” at www.brigada.org, or mail a check payable to Team Expansion (Brigada), 13711 Willow Reed Drive, Louisville, KY 40299. Team Expansion is a 501(c)3 incorporation so, for USA citizens, your gift to Christ through Team Expansion is tax-deductible. Thank you, in advance, for your partnership!

14) Glad for all the New Data on Cultural Differences

We’re hearing a lot about Honor/Shame cultural differences these days. For example, check out the infographic at…

http://honorshame.com/culture/

It’s entitled, “Cultural Vantage Points” and it explains how cultures of the East and West (mis)perceive each other’s values. If this were your basis, thank of how you might misperceive the other person. And these are just SOME of the typical axis points of misunderstanding. Seems like it would behoove every traveler to go through this chart FIRST, before traveling, in an effort to prepare for the [possibly] huge cultural differences between “Here” and “there.” (Thanks Allan!)

Does your church or agency have a great training piece for cross-cultural travelers (short-term or long)? If so, we’d love to see it, especially if the church or org would let others use the materials.
