1) Prayermate is a Cool Prayer App

We’re enjoying implementing PrayerMate. It goes a step beyond simply allowing you to develop a prayer *list* by implementing feeds from any partnering agency or entity — churches, Operation World, Joshua Project, etc. We’re currently trying to figure out how to create a structure that would allow people to pray through the “Prayer Wheel” or prayer cycle. In short, you would first download PrayerMate (at your device’s app store or marketplace), then you’d install the framework at

https://www.dropbox.com/s/9bhroqogrmo2zwb/Export_2017-04-02.json?dl=0

(by using the “import” command built into the app’s setup menu. Then drop by at

http://www.MoreDisciples.com/pray

to install the feed from MoreDisciples. We’re still trying to work out the kinks, but this idea is really awesome. You can finally incorporate all the feeds like Operation World and JoshuaProject.net in one place, so you can pray through everything in one sitting. Very cool. And we love this prayer wheel (or prayer cycle). The day after introducing it to one megachurch leader, he wrote us back, saying, “FYI, I prayed this morning in my room. I used the timer on my phone for each slice. That worked great except I found 5 minutes was not enough for each slice of the wheel, especially on the confession slice. Doug, you were right, 60 minutes not enough.”

2) Learn How to Learn How (to Learn another Language)

TRAIN International’s language acquisition training, ACQUIRE, is coming up in Joplin, MO, June 5-16. This two-week intensive training equips cross-cultural workers with effective strategies and tools for gaining language mastery. At ACQUIRE, you will:

*** Learn proven and effective principles and techniques of language acquisition
*** Understand the impact language learning will have on your entire overseas experience
*** Improve your ability to discern and generate new phonetic sounds
*** Gain insight into working with language helpers on the field
*** Invest time with language helpers putting into immediate practice the phonetic training and methods of language learning
*** Gain the confidence that you CAN learn your target language

3) Professional TEFL Certificate Online then Get a Job Overseas

4) Streetlights Bible app is just Plain Cool

We’re sooooooooo pumped about this new version of the Bible, the Streetlights Bible (app). Learn more at …

http://www.streetlightsbible.com/

But you really have to experience it (and share it with a friend) to get the most out of it. : ) We believe it premiered this week — and we’re thankful to Chad for sharing it with us. (Chad works in an inner city area with 50 different ethnic groups. Amazing guy.)

6) Aspiring Missionaries Need Additional Training

The folks at Good Neighbor Insurance wrote this past week to recommend The Master’s Mission to those thinking about long-term service overseas. They train future missionaries for remote areas: Animal husbandry, clearing airstrips, plumbing, digging clean water wells, millwork, carpentry, veterinary help, general accounting, heavy construction, mechanics, diesel mechanics, solar systems, electrical, drafting, building small dams, as well as Bible classes and church planting.

7) E-Media Ministry needs COO

A Seattle based radio and e-media ministry to Muslims needs someone to manage its daily operations. Administrative ability is key. G.R.O. supplies MBB’s with outreach websites & Internet radio stations. It aims to create a missionary radio network which travels via the Web to computers, radio, cell phones & satellite. If you’re leaving the field & want to continue reaching Muslims, please contact

11) Background on Shipping Laptops in Cargo Holds

In case you hadn’t picked up on our apologies to security-types, we recanted of our rant against countries, airlines, airports who were (are) forcing passengers to check laptops in checked luggage. Apparently, cargo holds are designed to “blow out” leaving the passenger cabin intact. Yikes. So basically, countries and airlines are saying, “We can live without baggage if terrorists do the ultimate dirty deed. But we don’t want to expose this to our passengers.” So we picked up a Pelican Air case sized *just* big enough to drop our backpack (with laptop) inside. Granted, there’s still a chance that it wouldn’t make it to the final destination. But hey — if their intel is good, then we wouldn’t have made it anyway. So — thanks to the security types for watching out for us. We apologize for ranting about the inconvenience. At the end of the day, the inconvenience is the terrorists’ fault, not yours. Thanks to all those who responded to our rant — to straighten us out. : )

12) ZohoCRM Continues to Impress

We’ve mentioned it before, but — if you’re looking for a constituency management software and you don’t have an I.T. person, be sure to check out ZohoCRM. There are favorable free start-up options (you get a LOT, in fact, for zero dollars) and this software is working. We’re testing it via a non-org role — with the neighborhood where we live, just to keep track of all our neighbors. We have notes on all 580 houses in our subdivision now! (Non-NSA type of notes, mind you.) See the ZohoCRM help files at…

14) The Last Bit: The Relevancy of the Bible for 2017

That’s the issue in question at…

http://www.magellancoalition.org/

as they struggle to re-introduce men, women, and young people of 2017 to the Word of God. To see some of their initial steps, go to Facebook, then search “Look Inside” — and see the video, “Apology.” Their humble, straight-forward engagement will, we predict, go far with some. What’s your take on these videos for the context in which *you* work?
