What Software do YOU Use for Fundraising?

We went on the hunt this past week and searched through everything from Salesforce for non-profits through Raiser’s Edge. Believe it or not, we ended up perusing the book, “The God Ask,” which is also good in its own regard, and saw the recommendation for

https://karani.co/

Yes, it’s simpler than some. But maybe the best part is — it’s simpler than some! Seriously. Some of these programs are so powerful. A friend of mine (our I.T. guy — Greg) tells us fairly often, “Remember, with great power comes great sophistication. With great sophistication comes rising complexity.” He was so right on these apps. The ones with so much power sometimes just caused our eyes to glaze over (literally). But we loved Karani and they do seem committed to growth. They’re adding (or have added already?) MailChimp integration — which should raise the bar even more. Give it a look and if you’ve found something better, please click “Comment” following the web version of this item.

Would you Pray for “Finishing the Task,” All Set for Next Week

It’s happening next week at Saddleback. It’s the annual “Finishing the Task” conference. So it’s probably too late to make the decision to go. But it’s NOT too late to pray that God will bless the event. Please stop by the website at…

http://www.finishingthetask.com/ftt_conf_details.htm

Get all the details, then please get serious about asking God to work through the event. Hundreds will gather — and you can gather with us by circling around the throne of God.

Want Ministry Training in the Context of Night and Day Prayer?

Then you at least HAVE to consider

http://www.ihopkc.org/

They have a training program at…

http://www.ihopkc.org/ihopuonline/

which offers online as well as onsite experiences. I (Doug) still remember the first time I visited there. I walked in at 4pm and, sure enough, several musicians were up there leading worship, singing and prayer. They live-stream it all to the web. Their classes are flexible, the prices are reasonable, and the content is terrific. Check it out and please let us know what you think afterward.

Train Your Partners in the Global South on Magazine Editing & More

Magazine Training International offers four to five-week online publishing courses (for a very small fee) and one-hour free Webinars on publishing topics. These are specifically for Christian magazine editors and staff in the Developing World, but American magazine staff also take advantage of them. They also offer 10 free ebooks each year and free web-based training videos, along with lots of resources on their web site. They are also organizing a conference in Hungary this year regarding their Crisis Publishing Initiative. This is for Christian writers, editors, publishers, bloggers worldwide who have to report and write in the midst of crisis. Learn more about these and other options at…

We’re Growing a List of Those Specializing in Business as Missions

You’ll recall our item asking for input on those offering training in marketplace ministry and business as missions…

http://www.brigada.org/2017/11/19_21867

There are several comments there already. There’s a website for YWAM, a campus in Missouri (with a great campus ministry, by the way), a university in California, a Christian college in Nebraska and two other orgs with BAM initiatives as well. But in the item, we’re really searching for other colleges and universities. Can we think of any others? If so, please go back to the original item and add to the list. Thanks so much.

Are you from the USA? Concerned about the RealID Act?

In a previous edition of Brigada…

http://www.brigada.org/2017/11/12_21813

we reported on the RealID act, which would have created limitations for residents of several states (those choosing to ignore RealID requirements — sometimes because the states didn’t like the way the federal government was going to handle/store the sensitive personal information), we mentioned that time was running out on those states. However, for many/most states, TSA has now granted extensions. To find out if your state is ok, just visit…

2018 Children’s Mission Prayer Calendars

Children are really great prayer warriors! There is nothing to compare with their “child-like faith”. This 2018 Children’s Calendar is an exciting new resource that empowers kids to engage in overseas missions by praying for children around the world. It’s filled with full-color pictures, information about twelve different countries around the world, specific prayer requests, and a coloring page activity for every month of the year! Check it out at…

“Right Color, Wrong Culture,” the Book AND the Movie

I imagine you’ve heard about Bryan Loritts’ new book, “Right Color, Wrong Culture.” Actually, the full-length title is, “Right Color, Wrong Culture: The Type of Leader Your Organization Needs to Become Multiethnic.” In it, Loritts takes a fable approach in introducing paradigms that challenge lots of assumptions in areas of diversity in the workplace (especially in ministry), leadership, and more. In challenging those norms, his purpose is to help you figure out the kind of leader you’ll need for your org, both now and also 5 years from now. (Thanks Mark!!!)

We’re Grateful for…

…a $25 gift from a missions mobilizer to encourage Brigada on. Thank you!
…the three “True Fans” of Brigada, one from the great province of British Columbia, Canada, another from Ashburn, VA, and a third from Good News Productions and who each sent, this past week, a gift of $100 to Jesus Christ through Brigada to speed this and many other editions on its way to thousands of participants around the world each and every 7 days! God bless you BC, Ashburn, and GNPI!

The Last Bit: Five Weeks to Go to Help Brigada Tackle a New Year

In the final two months of the year, Brigada fesses up about its simple budget of $17K/year to publish weekly mobilization emails, examine and distribute trends, and highlight resources from around the globe. We aren’t trying to get rich. If that were the case, we’d raise money and market like crazy and try to go to infinite levels. We’re not. We know our expenses (we’ve been doing this since 1995, right?) and they range around $17,000. If you’re a weekly participant, or if you’d like to help someone who is, would you please pitch in something? The ideal gift is $100. That way, we really only need 170 people. That’s 170 True Fans out of thousands of people around the globe who receive and act on the items in Brigada every week — and plenty more who read on the web. We stand today at $8700. What kind of difference can YOU make — through your prayers and partnership? Please act today. Your gift of $100 (or any amount really) could make a huge difference, if everyone reading this Brigada would take action. Just click “Donate” at www.brigada.org, or mail a check payable to Team Expansion (Brigada), 13711 Willow Reed Drive, Louisville, KY 40299. Team Expansion is a 501(c)3 incorporation so, for USA citizens, your gift to Christ by writing a check to Team Expansion is tax-deductible. Thank you, in advance, for your partnership!
