2) Learn How to Farm God’s Way with AgriStewards

Grant Dryden will be on the NW side of Indianapolis again with a 3-day Farming God’s Way training, August 9 – 11. Plus, they are adding a 2-day vegetable training on August 13 and 14. The cost is $30 for the 3-day training and $20 for the vegetable training. Lunch is provided and housing is on your own. If you have further questions contact Brian at
briandotsmithattdsdotnet . Farming God’s Way is a tool for the body of Christ to share the Gospel through agriculture. It is comprised of Biblical keys, along with management and agricultural lesson. It is intended to give the poor a hand up and not a hand out.

3) Restorative Retreat for Women Serving In and Near the Philippines

Women's Retreat

Women’s Retreat

Thrive is hosting a restorative retreat in Panglao Island, Bohol, Philippines this Oct. 29-Nov. 1 for U.S. and Canadian women who live and minister cross-culturally. Thrive retreats provide time away for rest, renewal, and refreshment where women are ministered to spiritually, emotionally, and physically. The only cost to you is a registration fee of $125 USD and any travel expenses to and from the retreat.

4) Join Churches and Individuals Everywhere, Praying for North Korea

What if we could rally thousands of churches across the world to pray for the future of North Korea. The recent summit marked the first time in history that a sitting USA President had met a North Korean leader. Pray for complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula. Pray for those living in torture, slavery, hunger, and more. Pray for family members who have witnessed public executions and the killing of infants. Pray for the 200,000 or more reported political prisoners. Pray that North Korea would no longer be the “most dangerous country in the world to be a Christian.” Ask God to help the 99% of their population who have never heard of Jesus Christ. The great news is — you don’t have to wait for the politicians. Through prayer, you can travel to North Korea TODAY. Please pray individually and ask someone to team up with you to arrange a prayer meeting in your congregation specifically for peace, freedom, and opportunity to know Christ as Lord. Use this video as a keystone for your night of shared prayer:

5) Learn about Global Integration and Global Integrity (Member Care)

Last month (May 17th), Kelly and Michèle O’Donnell delivered to a doctoral course on global Christianity. They share practical applications from their work in member care and mental health and emphasize the importance of living in integrity (righteousness) and staying current (relevant). They also include core resources and readings so you can get started. See their 55-slide PowerPoint presentation here:

7) MULTIPLY: A Disciple-Making Movements Summit

Now you can meet “model” disciple makers and learn how the same strategy could be used to make disciples of your hard-to-reach neighbors. MULTIPLY: A Disciple-Making Movements Summit features Jerry Trousdale and Roy Moran with David Watson by video. Since 2007 God has used these leaders and their teams to catalyze over 1 million new disciples in hard-to-reach cultures and Unreached People Groups (UPGs).
The Summit is in September 6th-8th in Wheaton

8) New Jerry Trousdale Book Ready for Purchase

If you’re like we are, you want to read everything Jerry Trousdale collects and writes about making disciples. Catch his new 2018 book, “The Kingdom Unleashed: How Jesus’ 1st-Century Kingdom Values Are Transforming Thousands of Cultures and Awakening His Church” by ordering either the print or kindle version here:

There was some confusion over this title. We asked Jerry to explain and he did. We’ll include his comments in full below. Just remember that his first book (2012) was entitled, “Miraculous Movements: How Hundreds of Thousands of Muslims Are Falling in Love with Jesus.” This brand new 2018 book is “The Kingdom Unleashed.” We’ve now ready it and it’s GREAT — filled with case studies AND instruction. (He actually included Brigada’s review comments to the book in the frontal pieces! Go Jerry! : ) )

When we asked Jerry to explain why there had been cover art floating around for some time for this 2018 book (since 2015, in fact), he told us in a personal note, “The book Kingdom Unleashed was originally going to be a Thomas Nelson book but my co-author Dr. Glenn Sunshine and I knew that we would need a year or more to research and write it. After we signed the contract, there was a request to do the book in a few months. We tried very hard to do that but we were very discouraged that there was not going to be time to give it the full treatment that it needed. Within a couple of months however, Thomas Nelson decided to liquidate that division with 30 books in process. But they wanted to keep The Kingdom Unleashed because Miraculous Movement was a best seller for them. But when they could not find an editor with time to do the book, we got the rights reverted back to Glenn and me. That was in 2015 and the old cover has been on the internet until recently when Nelson/Harper Collins was kind to scrub the old images so the new book could be released. This was actually a gift from God, because it took us more than 3 years to research and write the book that is just now being released. Jerry Trousdale”

Thanks for the response, Jerry!

9) Another “Send Me Out” Christian Music Video for Your Next Event

Now you can for SURE plan a new missions event with the “Send me out” theme. Karen has just informed us of yet ANOTHER “send me out” Christian music video. This one is produced by Gilbert Hovsepian, son of martyred pastor Haik Hovsepian of Iran. See it here:

This one is in addition to the one we highlighted last week by Steve Fee, same title:

10) Catch Several Ministries doing World Cup Outreaches

In last week’s edition of Brigada, we asked if any orgs were attempting ministries or outreaches in conjunction with the World Cup in Russia. There were several agencies highlighted. See them all at…

If you know of others, please add them there in the same queue so new viewers will see yours too. Thanks!

And by the way, who do you think will win the whole thing? We had thought Germany, until they played their opener. Oops.

11) What Are you Learning about the GDPR for the European Union?

Above, in the first item, we clarified that Brigada doesn’t keep anyone’s information — at all. We use MailChimp as an outsourced service. Since MailChimp is the one collecting your information, we believe it is therefore MailChimp’s responsibility to comply with GDPR guidance. However, just to be sure, we started today’s edition with the item you saw up in position #1. From what you are learning, is that sufficient? What sites, beside the general introductory portal…

have been helpful to you? Do you think the EU could actually take someone else to court in another country to enforce its new law? What international court would hear such a case? Thanks in advance for using the web version or the app version of this item to give us your opinion.

12) The Brigada App, in iOS or Android, is Waiting for You!

All you have to do to download the Brigada app is go to the place where you normally download new apps and search for “Brigada” and, bam, you can download Brigada’s custom app for free. This is not a web page viewer. This is a true app that lets you download Brigada content to the app itself then view it offline for a completely unique and independent-of-the-web experience. Try it for free today… wherever you get your apps.

13) We’re Grateful for…

…our good friends at ISA for sending a gift of $102.36 because a ministry purchased trip insurance in the name of Brigada. Thank you ISA. Learn more about their unique “DayTripper” insurance (and other policies) at…

14) The Last Bit: Yemen — It’s Time for Peace and Freedom

Today we once again ask — What is the church’s responsibility in Yemen? What role should/could believers play? In light of the fact that this is now said to be “the worst humanitarian crisis of our time,” what should our next step be? This came even closer to the surface this past week when two of the largest humanitarian aid organizations in the world pulled out of this troubled land.

In light of the suffering, in light of the sorrow, in view of thousands of families whose lives are on hold or threatened, would you pray with us today?

“Dear Lord, today we gather as one body — all those who are reading these lines — united in this one request: Would you please bring an end to the suffering in Yemen? Would you bring peace… and not just peace but FREEDOM to a troubled land, please? Would you hear these cries for grace and mercy. Would you raise your strong and mighty hand because of the innocent lives lost? Would you pardon those who are guilty, at least long enough for them to find mercy in their own hearts as they have tried to raise instruments of violence to hurt others in the name of greed, power, and vengeance? We don’t ask this for ourselves. We ask this for the people whom we may never meet. But they are people still who deserve to be able to walk to a corner market to buy bread without fearing the threat of the sword. You sent your Son to rescue lost mankind. Would you not please send brave men and women to reclaim this troubled land? Please do this so that your name would be made famous. If any of us can help in this quest… if any of our governments or organizations can intervene, would you please prompt us not only to action, but also to purposefulness and determination. Give us tireless will. And please give resilience to those who have fled. Give relief to the many who have lost loved ones who now live in the shadow of their broken hearts. Please Lord — end this once and for all. End violence and the recruiting of child soldiers. End persecution in the name of religion or any other cause. May YOUR name be famous because you did this. And would you please do this quickly, again, so that you might be made famous. This is our united request in Jesus’ Name,
