2) Psychology for Missionaries

Here’s a book “for” missionaries, not “about” missionaries, and it has been very popular since it was first posted. “Psychology for Missionaries” considers many areas of general psychology relevant to the lives of missionaries from a Christian perspective. The book is available to download free of charge as .doc, .pdf, or .zip files for your computer and as .mobi or .epub files for your Kindle or Nook. You can’t beat the price. Find it at…

The degree of influence that a network has on its clients depends almost entirely on how well it empowers them for effective ministry. 7) Global Missionary Member Care Org is Seeking a Director

The Well International (www.thewellintl.org), a global leader in missionary member care, is seeking an Executive Director to lead a team of member care providers as they serve cross-cultural workers through clinical counselling, soul care, training and retreats. 9) Learn How to Care for Your Church’s Missionaries

Neal Pirolo is presenting a 2-day pre-conference on building church-based missionary care October 1-2. This will be at the PTM Conference (Pastoral Training in MemberCare) near Ashville, NC. If you aren’t familiar, Neal literally “wrote the book” on ways churches can get in the game and make massive impact through sending workers well. He is the founder of Emmaus Road International, author of 5 books, including the acclaimed Serving as Senders and The Re-Entry Team, and has been involved in cross-cultural ministry and training for over 40 years. 12) Pray for 6 Million People Struggling to Find Food in West Africa

Rainfall was way short in 2017 for Burkina Faso, Chad, Mali, Mauritania, Niger and Senegal. As a result, they’ve lost crops, pasture, and livestock. And now some 1.6 million children are affected. Would you please pause today and pray for help for the people in these nations? Ask God to bring the right amount of rain and enough relief to get them over the hump. If you know of a worker in the region, please pray that God will guide him or her and consider volunteering to help. Thanks for your concern for those who are hurting. (And thanks to Justin for bringing this need to our attention!)

13) We’re Grateful For…

…a gift of $30 from a donor who loves missionaries so much that he constantly hunts for resources for them. We’re all grateful for your help and partnership!
…the blessing of a gift of $50 from the people at TheCultureTest.com . Thank you for your willingness to share what you’ve learned about cultures with all of us! : )

14) The Last Bit: What if Vulnerability is the Key?

Did you ever try to use the LAMP method to learn another language? One of the key points of this approach is that the learner takes on an attitude like Jesus — humble, servant-hearted, eager-to-hear, … maybe even a bit vulnerable. Brene’ Brown has a great TedTalk on this idea:

A few of her words are coarse, but the meaning is true. Maybe if we ALL learn the art of vulnerability, the world would see a different stereotype of Christian worker. If you have a few minutes to catch her TedTalk video (or read the transcript at

would you take a moment to write your reaction/response to this idea? … that we sanction the feeling of vulnerability as a “standard approach” in missions??? What would you think of that idea??? Just click “Comment” after the app or web version of this item. And thanks in advance for your help!!!
