1) Reentry Books For Children And Parents: Free Download

Elementary-age children may find reentry difficult and their parents may not know what to do to help. “We’re Going Home” (108 pages) is for children ages 6-12 who are returning to their passport countries. Written at a third grade level, “We’re Going Home” includes the story of a family returning to its passport culture. Each chapter also has activities such as scrambled words, crossword puzzles, word searches, mazes, and codes. “I Don’t Want to Go Home” (54 pages) is a companion volume for parents. Each chapter in the parent’s book has information about TCKs in the Bible, children’s TCK issues today, and suggestions to help children reenter well.  The books are available to download free of charge as .doc, .pdf, or .zip files for your computer and as .mobi or .epub files for your Kindle or Nook. You can’t beat the price. Find them at…

(Can we just say — these Missionary Care people… they assemble all these resources and they never charge the missionary community to use them. I just hope and pray that God will bless them because — they really have a cool spirit about them. Seriously.)

2) Free Initial Assessment during Mental Health Awareness Month

May 2019 is the 70th anniversary of Mental Health Awareness Month. GRC is pleased to recognize and support efforts to bring awareness to this need. To support this effort , GRC is offering FREE initial assessments to global workers who complete an intake form during the month of May.

Don’t miss out on this opportunity. Appointments are available now. Complete an intake at

3) Mosques, Churches, and Synagogues: It’s Time to Pray For Sure

You might have already seen the April 29th release of the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom. We have one word to sum it up: Grim. It contained Recommendations for the World’s Most Egregious Violators of Religious Freedom and, as you can imagine, this was a difficult year. With shootings and bombings in local mosques, churches and synagogues, along with reports on ethnic cleansing and reprogramming camps in China, it makes for a stomach-turning but necessary/urgent read. It should also spawn prayer on behalf of all of us. See the report in full at…

4) We Cannot Watch This Video With Dry Eyes (Marines: Days of Elijah)

It was apparently originally posted by just one lady. Now it has been seen by 4 million. We look forward to the day it’s double that number. There’s just something about watching this cadre of trained men and women, arms over each others’ shoulders, crunched in a low position, singing “There’s no God like Jehovah,” then lifting their voices with a strong “Hoo-rah” at full shout. We (and they) know that tomorrow, they might be called upon to put their lives on the line to defend and protect the Constitution of their land and the people who live in it. But for today, they had just one thing on their minds: lifting up the God who protects and goes before them, the one in whom they place their trust.

The URL: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0MtdyRDy4fU

As a part of your prayer time today, would you pray for those who are defending the country that you love today? …and give thanks for those who place their lives in God’s hands so you can live yours, we trust, in freedom.

5) This Map is Amazing (Every Church in Every Village in Thailand?)

This past week, a great friend of Brigada (Thanks Robby) introduced us to a great friend of Southeast Asia. Dwight went on to show us the set of maps found at…

globalharvestmap.com/

At the time, we didn’t quite realize what a celebrity we had on our Zoom video screen. Later, we noticed this article at Christianity Today…

www.christianitytoday.com/ct/2019/april/missions-data-thai-church-fjcca-reach-village.html

This guy has figured out a way to map every church in Thailand. And now, he’d like to take it to the entire region of Southeast Asia. He’s searching for networking agencies who will share data and partner to make this thing regional — instead of just Thai. Amazing concept. If you can help in a nation like Vietnam or Cambodia, just message him at:

infoatchurchcloudsolutionsdotcom  (infoatchurchcloudsolutionsdotcom)

Volunteer at whatever level you like. Let’s see if we (he? : ) ) can roll this out on a regional basis. Thanks for your help.

6) Missiology.com is Stocked with World-Class Resources

Hats off to the missiologists at Abilene Christian University. They’ve created a digital space dedicated to fostering the study of Christian mission. They’re filling it with free podcasts, blogs, resources, and more. Their sole aim is to curate an inclusive set of resources related to evangelism, missions history, the theology of mission and missional theology, intercultural studies, world Christianity, interreligious dialogue, and everything in between. And, it’s free! Check it out at…

8) Barna is At it Again: The State of the Bible 2019

These Barna guys. They just won’t stop raising pesky, troublesome topics that haunt us, and nag us, and wake us up to trends that are as disturbing as they are motivating. The latest? When they go meddling with our Bible-reading, now they’re writing about something personal. And that’s exactly what they’ve done. Compared with similar studies that they’ve done over the past 3 years, they found that in 2019, fewer Americans are disengaged with the Bible (which at first seems like a good thing), but at the same time, fewer US of Americans are Bible-centered. And Way fewer Americans *use* the Bible. And one of the spin-off issues is — they also found that when fewer Americans use the Bible, fewer people do anything about their beliefs — like, tell others or give offerings to agencies – like yours. So if we want to keep all these orgs and churches afloat (and, minor details like — help people get to Heaven and escape eternal fire?), we’d better find a way to get people back into the Bible. Eh?

9) Save the Date for this Honor-Shame Global Conference

Then, save the date: June 8-10, 2020, for the 2nd Honor-Shame Global Conference at Wheaton College (near Chicago). Plenary Speakers will include John Barclay, Jayson Georges, Larry Persons, Shirin Taber, Benjamin Shin, T.V. Thomas, and Jackson Wu. There will also be many workshop sessions. Learn more at…

14) The Last Bit: PrayerCast’s Daily Videos Are Award-Winning

Well, it’s official. Brigada has to come up with a new award — and the people behind Prayercast (including OneWay, a family of media and missions ministries based in Napierville, IL, including its Founder and Executive Director, Michael Thompson, and Darrow, as well) have to win it. Their vision is “To see multitudes come to a saving faith in Christ as His people joyfully engage in reaching them,” and, we have to say, in our opinion, there is no doubt they are contributing greatly to that end. Their mission is “To activate people to exalt Jesus Christ and advance His gospel to the multitudes.” All you have to do is watch just ONE of their videos and we think you’ll be convinced. And during this Ramadan, they’ve worked hard to prepare the most amazing prayers, combined with fantastic original music sound tracks, overlaid by out-of-this-world video footage (who knows how they obtained or created all this). Please — just watch one with us. Here’s one about Muslim men:

prayercast.com/men.html

The crazy thing is — they create and give away all their content (when do these people ever make any money?), and it’s better, actually, than anything we could buy anyway. When we watch these videos, we aren’t just prompted to pray. We are *drawn* into praying. What if all 7500 of us bow right now, giving thanks for their work? What if we all join together to pray that God would bless *them* so they can bless others. We can’t *afford* to lose Prayercast. But we pray that will never happen — that God will bless them and multiply their efforts (and their resources) many times over. Learn more at…

prayercast.com

We noted that there is a “Donate” button upper right — and we decided to make a donation today in light of their quality work. We only wish it could have been more than it was. We encourage others to consider doing the same.
