2) English-Based School in Kosova is Seeking a Science Teacher

2) English-Based School in Kosova is Seeking a Science Teacher

Remember that school in Kosova? They are once again giving thanks to God that most of their jobs are filled by top-notch teachers. But they still need a gap science teacher to take the place of a great worker headed out a month from now on maternity leave. This is urgent. Teachers do not have to be certified (though it’s preferred), but they do need to have a bachelor’s degree. If you have a lead, email

jwchesnut2atyahoodotcom

This private school in Kosova features classes taught in English with an American curriculum. They provide one round-trip economy ticket and 1000E ($1200) per month. (This is adequate to cover all expenses for a single person to live in Kosova.)

3) Looking for a Place to Get Away from it All after Going Far?

3) Looking for a Place to Get Away from it All after Going Far?

Perhaps you’ve found it here. EdenRidge, a missionary-focused retreat and vacation destination located in East Tennessee, is pleased to announce the opening of the Goodness Studio this spring. This new smaller guest facility will complement the ministry’s larger five cabins. EdenRidge is also excited to begin construction this summer of the Welcome Center, a game-changing 5,000 square-foot facility. To learn more about EdenRidge and to make reservations, please visit

4) There’s a 50/50 Chance Your Millennial Friends Won’t Share Christ

Why? Because it would just… be… WRONG to do so. At least that’s what a new Barna poll found. In spite of feeling equipped to do so, nearly half of them won’t – because they think it’s wrong to share one’s personal beliefs with someone of a different faith in hopes that they will one day share the same faith. Sounds like they grew up watching Star Trek re-runs and they’re afraid of violating the “Prime Directive” or something. See the Barna summary here…

www.barna.com/research/millennials-oppose-evangelism

Not sure how we fix this. Somehow, though, if we’re going to win the world with the help of the upcoming generations, we’ll have to remind them that Jesus gave a prime directive too. And that He’s the one who made them. (Thanks for pointing us to a new story about this, Tim!)

5) Think You Can Live "Under the Radar?" Better Leave Social Networking

…because your social networking is creating a HUGE footprint for those who want to predict what you would buy, say, or do. In fact, a recent study (2017, actually; it’s probably even worse now) established that your social networking footprint can help big-data experts predict with as high as a 95% accuracy rate exactly what you’re up to. If you were thinking of staying under the radar, maybe better go low-key on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. : )

6) Become a Better Storyteller in 5 Weeks

Learn with your team and imagine the impact of a better-communicated message – whether oral, written, or filmed. Visit:

to find course details, instructor bios, and comments from previous students. The course, Introduction to Story in Ministry, is offered by Mission Media U and runs February 20-March 20.

7) Get Comprehensive Healthcare from Missio Benefits

Our org has always wanted to offer a comprehensive, yet affordable group health plan, organization-wide. The problem was, with just 300 missionaries or so, our census was never big enough to make it affordable enough to be practical. At least — not until now, we hope. (Although we’re still trying to digest all the details.) This past week, Missio Nexus went public with their new group health plan. The idea (which they made public at last fall’s conference) was to pull together enough organizations that the census became big enough that orgs could finally average out all the medical problems with big enough org charts globally. With thousands of international worker participating, we would have to admit — the rates are finally competitive. Of course, now if we can just understand all the substeps and sequences in transitioning over. Learn more at…

And please post the story of your possible transition here, below, in the comments. We’re all interested in learning how to make the switch!

8) USA-based Missionaries Returning: Want to Keep Serving from the USA?

Missionary to Muslims? Have to leave your field? Want to keep ministering and keep your missionary supporters when you return to the U.S.? G.R.O., near Seattle, offers blogging websites and Internet radio stations to M.B.B.’s to reach Muslims. They need missionary workers in the Seattle area to help them maintain and expand their outreach. Even if you’re not technical, you’re needed. Your contacts and help are the key. 9) It’s Probably a Good Time to Pray for Venezuela

We (Doug) remember when our org first started in Venezuela in 1986. Escalators, high-rises, high society… We might have imagined that we were working in a Latin American version of Miami. But lately, it feels a lot more like the Soviet Union in 1991, right before the wall fell. Food lines, political wrangling, and, in general, mayhem. Join Prayercast in prayer this week by showing this video to your group, church or family. And please pray hard. There has been an amazing upsurge of evangelical growth there since the late 80’s. Ask God to take care of believers and nonbelievers a like, especially now.

10) We Have to Admit: Signal is Better (at Secure Communication)

OK. Uncle. (Maybe “Man from Uncle,” in fact.) We’re ready to admit — Signal feels like a better solution for secure communication. And based on the claims we see at…

www.signal.org/

and the reviews at locations like…

lifehacker.com/secure-messaging-app-showdown-whatsapp-vs-signal-1794684943

Of course, that review is a couple of years old. The newest reviews have gotten even better for Signal, especially the MOST recent reviews, which are concerned about what’s up with WhatsApp, now that Facebook owns it and is planning to integrate it with (what????) Instagram?

We’re putting our money on Signal, for the moment.

11) Don’t Forget to "Seek God for the City,"

Don’t forget — Waymakers have developed a great campaign called, “Seek God for the City,” designed to mobilize many to pray with united, sustained vision for people of your community. The forty days to Palm Sunday makes an ideal time to venture into a season of sustained, hope-filled prayer, March 6 – April 14, 2019. You can invite your small group, your Sunday School class, your mission org, all the missionaries you support, and/or your entire church to take part. Multiple versions are available, including in Spanish — and via an app. Learn more at…
