7) What, to you, were the Biggest News Stories of 2018?

7) What, to you, were the Biggest News Stories of 2018?

We’re talking about stories that impacted your life, your work, and the lives/work of the people around you. So please, don’t suggest that it was all about leading political figures. Yes — they can exert influence. But, is anybody else tired of facing the presumption that the most important news ALWAYS centers around lightning rod leaders. Sure it will be important sometimes. But what top stories DIDN’T relate to polarizing government leaders, but still impacted your work and witness — even if they only did so in your region?

Here are some possible suggestions to prime the pump. Was it…

Kim Jong Un announced that North Korea will denuclearize.
The net neutrality debate.
Cuba — and the transition out for the Castro family as rulers
Iraq holds its first elections since driving out the Islamic state
Bitcoin crashes (or at least falls).
Prince Harry and Meghan said “I do.”
Terrible wildfires in California or a new tsunami in Indonesia

What do YOU think??? Vote for one of these — or supply the answer yourself. Please click comment following this itsm on the web and speak your mind.

8) The Brigada App is Dead. Long Live the Brigada App (via the web)

After multiple exchanges with a ton of users, we did indeed decide to set the Brigada app free. It was a great experiment. But what we found, most of all, is that most people seem just as satisfied receiving Brigada via email. And since the Brigada webpage is “responsive” (meaning it’s “made for mobile”), it seemed that most users thought of the webpage as being “enough.”

9) As we Turn the Corner into 2019, What’s your Favorite "Cool Tool?"

We love revisiting “Cool Tools” just after the turn of the new year. Would you help us get started please? Try to think — what are the most enduring new (or old) tools that help you do your job, or just make life more fun while doing it. : ) It could be as simple as, “When packing for overseas trips, take one of those little brown extension cords in case the only plug in the room is out of reach” or whatever. What’s YOUR favorite cool tool? Just click “Comment” following this item on the web.

10) Try This Progression to Train New Believers in Christ

What if you were to ask, “Where do I start with training a new believer?” As of today, here’s what we’d recommend.

First, introduce your new believer to “Momentum,” the free course at:

www.MomentumYes.org

This course takes about 9 hours. It will help them get the “why” quite clearly. Why are we in this? Why are we here? What’s our purpose?

Then, once they’ve finished Momentum, engage them with Zume Training at…

www.ZumeProject.com

This will help them get the tools and practices. It’s roughly 20 hours of group sessions (a group consists of 4-12). By the time they’re done, they’ll be praying and sharing like never before.

Then head for 4 Fields Training as the next and more advanced step. One of the best places to catch this training is at…

e3partners.org/training/

This training will help you make sure you’ve driven home the ultimate end goal and how to get there.

All three trainings are free — and you can do all three without having to leave your church or your hometown. 2019 is a wonderful time to live!

11) We Like Ed Stetzer’s "Three Markers for Discipleship"

11) We Like Ed Stetzer’s "Three Markers for Discipleship"

Seems like Ed Stetzer has a really balanced view of how to measure disciples who are making disciples. He talks about the importance of knowing, being, and doing. We should memorize his article. : )

12) Understanding the Art of Change: Read this Free Paper

Did you ever stop to think just how much of our work depends on change? Think about it. If we want to help a not-yet-believer embrace the Good News about Jesus, we’re trying to persuade the person to accept a new world view. Then if they DO decide to shift their world view (just think what a big shift that is!), then we follow up by asking the person to shift to a new set of personal practices, disciplines, habits, and, oh yes, patterns of retelling what the person has just embraced. Yikes. No wonder this is so hard. : ) I wonder if Scott London’s article on “Understanding Change” would help give us a backdrop on this? It’s free at…

Would you please scan it, then comment here as to how important you think these comments might be in helping us understand this huge transformation that has to happen? Then please click “Comment” following the web version of this item. God bless you for your thoughts!

…a gift of $100 from a True Fan of Brigada from Ambridge, PA. Thank you!!!

…and, just minutes ago, a gift of $200 from a great True Fan in Estacada. God bless you!…

…and a second gift from Mission Network arrived — for $100! God bless you!!!

When we asked what we should highlight, one donor said, “You could explain that I’m having fun leading international students to Christ and giving them a heart for people groups within their nation, so they too can fulfill the Great Commission.” That’s the amazing magic of Brigada. Everyone is serving Christ together, in one big brigade.

So as of tonight, Brigada donors have all together pitched in $14,787. That’s AMAZING. It leaves us just $2032 short of our operating budget for 2019. But it’s also an AMAZING amount to start the year. God bless each and every one of you.

If you, your church, or group ended up with anything left at the end of the year and would like to put it towards mobilization for unreached people through Brigada as a gift to Jesus Christ, just click “Donate” at www.brigada.org, or mail a check payable to Team Expansion (Brigada), 13711 Willow Reed Drive, Louisville, KY 40299. Team Expansion is a 501(c)3 incorporation so, for USA citizens, your gift to Christ by writing a check to Team Expansion is tax-deductible. Thank you, in advance, for your partnership!

14) The Last Bit: Are You Following the Ethne Conferences?

14) The Last Bit: Are You Following the Ethne Conferences?

The most recent one just met earlier this month. Several regional and affinity teams, most affiliated with 24:14, have begun to form or continued to move forward: Eurasia, Persian/Turkic countries, Southeast Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, Sports to Movement affinity, and Media to Movement affinity. The purpose of these teams is to seek total movement engagement in their region/affinity by 2025.

The Hubs workgroup explored what it will take to establish a global network of cross-organizational training hubs to more quickly and effectively equip workers. The team drafted a list of action items to implement over the coming year to build that network ranging from curriculum to logistics, tracking, and financing.

Finally, the prayer team was able to connect face-to-face with many of the leaders and teams they have been praying for, delivering powerful prophetic words and gaining a better familiarity with these teams to more effectively intercede for them.

Please pray that out of this time effective 24:14 teams form that result in an acceleration in engaging every unreached people and place with a movement strategy! Learn more about 24:14 by clicking to …

(Thanks to 24:14 for sharing this report with the Brigada audience.)
