14) The Last Bit: Sounds Like an Ad, but We Just Saved $1400 on Airfare

Woman with coins in jar

If I (Doug) hadn’t seen it with my own eyes, I never would have believed it. At the last minute, a new field opportunity popped up in a major city in Europe. I jumped on all our usual websites for airfare… Sites like Orbitz, Kayak, and Travelocity, along with proprietary airline sites like Delta and United. True story: The best price I could find for ANY round trip during the time bracket we needed (which was just there and back in 5 days; that’s what jacked up the pricing) was $2800. Honestly, I gave up. The next day, Tina tried, using a new travel site she had heard about…

https://www.momondo.com/

When she told me she had latched down a fare for less than $1100 on an Air France ticket stock flight (flying on a Delta plane), I didn’t believe it. Then I saw the invoice. She was telling the truth. In one single airfare purchase, she had saved $1700 using this new comparison-shopping site. We ended up using it again about 3 days later. A fare for East Africa showed up as unavailable on the “classic” sites. Momondo found a seat — at a competitive price. Were these just two just freak occurrences? Could be. But it’s definitely worth a try. Please keep in mind: We aren’t being paid nor are we receiving any discounts by endorsing this site. And we aren’t travel agents, by any means. It’s just that it worked for us. One beggar telling another where to find bread.

1) Mobilization Video by This Church in Santa Barbara is Great

I love Reality Santa Barbara’s video on missions.

https://vimeo.com/228755241

It’s fresh, it’s pointed, and it’s fast. On top of all that, it’s free! The narrator, Chris Lazo, is Reality’s lead pastor. You won’t go wrong if you share this video as a bumper for next missions sermon or as a key thought in your next global outreach Sunday. (Thanks to Joshua Project for featuring it on their videos page!)

2) Which Missions Book(s) For Your Pastor (Lots of Options Now)

In the Aug. 12th edition of Brigada, we asked which mission books you would give to your pastor. The list there is growing. Rather than republish the list here, we’d love to point you BACK to that item, with the hopes that if you don’t see your fave missions book there (to pass along), you’ll add it. There are now over 20 books and two book lists. See if yours is there. (Authors, this is a great way to get a bump in orders. : ) )

3) Missio Nexus to Host “Partnership” (2018 Mission Leaders Conf.)

“Partnership – the 2018 Mission Leaders Conference” begins in 4 short weeks. It is not too late to register for one of the pre-conference sessions — find more information on those at…

https://missionexus.org/partnership/#schedule

Please pray with conference organizers that…
a) Conversations and meetings would happen at this event that would impact the Great Commission in amazing ways.
b) Pray that key organizational leaders would be challenged and grow in their application of partnership.
c) Pray that God keeps everyone safe traveling to and from the event.
