3) After Facilitating 25 Workers Through the Book, “Spirit Walk”

Steve Smith’s new book, “Spirit Walk,” is a real winner. In fact, after faciliatating 25 cross-cultural workers through it in a format not unlike a reading group, we can honestly say — it works GREAT to sensitize workers to possibility of walking each day with the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. We simply worked our way through the book, a chapter at a time, focusing on the text, then on questions for discussion. Honestly, the book evoked a lot of great discussion, especially in regard to the Spirit’s role. Learn more about Spirit Walk at…

in 36 different languages. Translators all over the world are making great progress on their respective Zume course translations. The big secret is that one language is already done but is just being field-tested before the Zume planning team rolls it out to users everywhere. Imagine, within 6 months, being able to reach the 34 most commonly-spoken languages in the USA and probably the entire world.

6) Creating a Culture of Missional Prayer

The more we see it, the more we recognize — creating a culture of prayer can’t happen merely by scheduled events. We have to get people praying all along the way, along the journey. Whenever anyone even mentions a concern or a need, we need our leaders, as well as all our team members, to be thinking about prayer — and then we need them to “stop the presses and pray” right there on spot. This behavior is “better caught than taught.” But we’re convinced that one of the keys is just promising one’s self that, if the idea even occurs in one’s head to pray, one simply MUST pray, out loud, with the team member, at that time. Maybe that prompting comes directly from the Holy Spirit. Either way, it has to be real. It can’t be fake. Was it Jim Cymbala who wrote, “When ministry becomes performance, then the sanctuary becomes a theatre, the congregation becomes an audience, worship becomes entertainment, and man’s applause and approval become the measure of success. But when ministry is for the glory of God, His presence moves into the sanctuary. Even the unsaved visitor will fall down on his face, worship God, and confess that God is among us.”

7) 8th-Gen Laptops Are King of the Battery Marathon

As I (Doug) write items for this Brigada, I’m on board an older Boeing 777 without the electrical package. Bummer. I always look for the “ER” on the end of the 777, hoping that will bring electrical receptacles. But, alas, this aircraft struck out. So here I am on board a 13-hour flight with no power source. But fortunately, only by God’s grace, a while back, God provided an 8th-gen processor, which today has shown its worth by allowing me to work essentially all day long… and yet I still have 41% battery remaining right now. To me, the 8th-gen series of chips bring a greater capacity for production than any upgrade in recent history. If you get stuck using your battery, pray that God has provided an 8th-generation processor. : )
