3) Discover, Obey, Share: Is it that simple?

The folks at Pray4Tunisia.com use 3 overarching verbs in most everything they do. They want their participants to discover a truth from God, obey it, and then share it with others. EVERYTHING goes through that lense. Seems so simple. (Is it really?) If that’s the case, why can’t we change the world?

6) Why have I Never Heard of Wistia Before?

Think Vimeo — except, think of it as a minute-by-minute metric-minder as your fans and friends watch your videos. It was easy enough to open up a free-forever account (which allows just 3 videos). But I guess lots of people will balk at paying $100/month (for 150 videos). So yes… I admit… it’s pricey. But the idea is awesome. You not only see how many people START your videos. You also see how many people FINISH them. In other words, you see minute-by-minute “heat maps.” Great idea. Fairly pricey. What’s YOUR take?

7) Gaining by Losing: Another Case of Upside Down Thinking

gaining-by-losingWe’ve always been fascinated by the number of Christian ideals that are kind of upside down. Church leaders, here’s yet another one: If you want the Kingdom to grow, one of the best things you can do is give your people away. If you don’t believe it, just order the book, “Gaining by Losing,” by J.D. Greear. In it, Greear unpacks ten plumb lines that you can use to reorient your church’s priorities around God’s mission to reach a lost world. The good news is that you don’t need to choose between gathering and sending. Effective churches can, and must, do both. (Thanks Rob!)

8) Book: Missions Abandoned — Re-establishing the priority

missions-abandonedNew Zealander, Andrew Jit, has demonstrated his ability to generate missionary recruits. Now you can see his not-so secret recipe: He does it through patiently and persistently mentoring young people as they labor through life’s challenges, week by week.

Find out how you, too, can wake up your church to the priorities of world evangelism.

[Truth in advertising: He asked one of us (Doug) to write the forward. But true disclosure: All we received from it is a free copy of the book, so please don’t think we have a hidden agenda for promoting the content. : ) ]

You have at least three choices.
a) You can hire a local artist and wait for days (weeks) for the result, then pay quite a lot, perhaps, for the outcome. Or…
b) You can use 99Designs, pay about $300, wait only a week, and get some great suggestions.

or
c) You can use Designmatic and do it yourself, using their great tools.

We (Tina) recently needed a logo fast, used Designmatic, and — it worked great! (You might even try WRITING something for them. If you do that, you might still get it for free.)

10) Looking for Debriefing Evaluation Tool

question-015Brigada participant, Martha, wrote this past week hoping to find options for a debriefing questionnaire. She asked, “What debriefing tools exist for the short-term team member being debriefed by a pastor or non-professional missions committee? Alternatively, might there be an evaluation tool that would enable the returning missionary to score the debriefing process?” These are great questions. Can you help her? If so, please click “Comment” following the web version of this item.

12) What are the best Alternatives for Dropbox?

Are you using Dropbox as your primary file-sharing service? Have you noticed more and more buffering (slow-downs) as Dropbox tries to stream your movies? If so, what are the options? The folks at WireDrive would like us to try theirs. It looks just a tad pricey, but it might be better for streaming videos. Anybody got experience with them?

If not WireDrive, who? Please tell us your best discovery.
