10) Concerned about Whether a site is “Spammy?”

Last week, when we attempted to send out Brigada, email recipients protected by Barracuda (and all those who take their queue by following its filtered list) were unable to receive the first emailing. As it turned out, one of the items we featured happened to be so new, it wasn’t even listed in Barracuda’s “safe” list. So they assumed it to be guilty until provden innocent. As a result, hundreds of emails were blocked by Barracuda’s firewall. Have you used Barracuda before? Do you have advice for all of us (who send newsletters to multiple recipients? … which would pretty much be every non-profit employee and missionary in the world)? If there a website to which we could email a proposed newsletter to discern the likelihood that Barracuda would block it? We are aware that we can test one URL at a time at…

http://www.barracudacentral.org/lookups

But that would take forever to test each URL individually. Is there such a thing as a site that receives PDF’s, then gives a spam score? MailChimp, for its part, was apparently completely unaware and offered no feedback. Thanks for any help you can give.

11) New Amazon card gives 5% back on all Purchases

Are you a frequent buyer at Amazon.com and a member of Amazon Prime? If you’re in the market for a new/additional credit card, you might consider Amazon’s Prime Rewards Visa Signature Card. Read all about it here…

https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=202109390

As long as it’s your primary card at Amazon Prime, you can start racking up the savins today. Check it out. (Are you aware of other great credit card deals? If so, please just hit “comment” following the online version of this item. Thanks!

12) World Time Buddy app on Mobile will Keep You on Track

Do you frequently travel to other time zones or make appointments with those who do? If so, the mobile World Time Buddy app might be just what the doctor ordered. See it at…

http://www.worldtimebuddy.com/mobile-app

You can set several “favorite” time zones, see at a glance the way your appointments will stack up, note “dark” and “daylight” times in a flash, and much much more. It’s available both for iPhone and Android.

Thank you, in advance, for your partnership!

14) The Last Bit: Rahmud’s Story – Forcibly Displaced in Sicily

Rahmud (not his real name, but yes true story) couldn’t figure out why all the Muslims kept shooting up his homeland in Africa. He knew he had to get out of the country. He had heard there were jobs in Libya. He knew he had to go. However, by the time he got to Libya, all was lost. The country had become lawless. One night, local men were offering a boat ride to Sicily. Over 150 people crowded onto a boat made for 30. Rahmud nearly drowned. Only 50 made it alive when the Italian coast guard picked him up about 40 miles off the coast of Libya. They took him to a refugee center near downtown Catania, where he was given warm clothing, food, and a roof over his head. A few weeks later, he was invited to a three-thirds group (discovery Bible study). Now, every week he studies a different passage of scripture. He never realized Christians could be so warm and hospitable.

Rahmud’s story is real. The question is — how can we change the situation for tomorrow? Are you working with forcibly-displaced peoples? What advice would you give to those wishing to make a difference? Are you a forcibly-displaced person yourself? Can you share another story, like the one above? If so, just click comment following the web version of this item. Thanks in advance for sharing.
