Brigada – 2024-03-17

13) We’re Grateful for…

i give thanks for you… the Brigada participants in Owasso, Oklahoma, who passed along $30 to help us into the new year! Bless you!
… Two $100 “True Fans” from the great nation of Canada! One wrote, “Brigada has been a valued resource many times so I’m glad I could help.” The other said, “I have appreciated the encouraging resources of Brigada, and a number of our missionary staff do as well.”
… An amazing gift of $500 from New Hope Center, Waterloo, Indiana.

To join them, just mail your check, made payable to Team Expansion (Brigada), 13711 Willow Reed Drive, Louisville, KY 40299. Team Expansion is a 501(c)3 incorporation so, for USA citizens, your gift to Christ through Team Expansion is tax-deductible. If you’d rather give online, just click “Donate” in the upper right corner at brigada.org . Going forward, all gifts count toward our fundraising goal of $17,120 for 2016, which begins now. And once again, Thank you.

14) The BackPage: God bless you for Boosting Brigada into 2016

We look forward to serving you throughout the coming year and we look forward to seeing what God does in and through the entire Brigada family (you included!). Thank you and God bless!

One of the most exciting aspects of Brigada is the way that many people pitch in to find answers to tough questions. We pledge to stay true to our mission of help you do yours! Our goal is to provide you with motivation, resources, and trends in fulfilling the Great Commission.

1) Thanks to Those who Pray and Give…

thank-you…to speed along Brigada from our screens to yours. One gentleman, a worker in Southeast Asia, wrote this past week, “Thanks so much Doug! I pray that God would provide greatly for Brigada and the work that you do. I wish we could have given more to help you get to 100%. I look forward to all the great nuggets of information contained in Brigada. I am always amazed that you are able to generate such great content. I have found so many helpful things on Brigada over the years! Things like insurance, travel tools, great apps, books, websites, blogs, missions video’s and many others. Keep up the great work!” [We appreciate the encouragement, prayers and the financial boost! God bless you!]

This brings total giving during all of 2015 to $11,487, which is simply amazing. AMAZING.

All 2015 gifts must be received no later than Jan. 15, midnight. To join them, just date your check Dec. 31, 2015, and mail, made payable to Team Expansion (Brigada), 13711 Willow Reed Drive, Louisville, KY 40299. Team Expansion is a 501(c)3 incorporation so, for USA citizens, your gift to Christ through Team Expansion is tax-deductible. If you’d rather give online, just click “Donate” in the upper right corner at brigada.org . All online gifts given prior to midnight on Jan. 15 will be counted toward our 2015 fundraising goal of $17,120. We’re 67% there. Only $5633 to go. 56 True Fans of Brigada within the next 7 days — and we’re golden. Or one generous donor with one single gift of $5633 would do it. Please join us in praying. And once again, Thank you.

2) Missionaries and Same-SexMarriage

Same-sex marriage raises both religious and cultural issues for cross-cultural workers. Those issues may be quite different depending on whether or not homosexual behavior is a crime in the host country. This article provides information to help such workers consider the issues they face as they decide what to do, and it can be downloaded as a pdf and printed to distribute to others. In addition, this website has aritcles about more than 100 other issues as well as 16 books available to download free of charge as .doc, .pdf, or .zip files for your computer and as .mobi or .epub files for your Kindle or Nook.

3) Why Are There So Many Lame Prayer Videos?

We’re on the edge of our seat because a team in North Africa is wrapping up their research project on unengaged unreached people groups there. They’ve already won a grant to fund the development of great videos that would mobilize prayer and workers for harvest among these groups. So they’re wondering: What makes a great prayer video? What makes your org decide to use it to mobilize workers for a people group? Please share links, opinions, contact information, and samples of great videos. Just click “Comment” following the web version of this item please. Thanks!

4) Christmas-themed Redemption Stories

Illustration of Merry Christmass in many languages

This past week, thanks to a tip from a great donor, we discovered some amazing Christmas-themed redemptive short stories by Jon Lewis. He wrote them for his family, to be read each year on Christmas Day. “Invariably the adventures are written in the context and culture of an area somewhere in the world that Jon has visited in his ministry years with MAF and Partners International. Even Timbuktu! They are richly told and full of suspense. Each is a treasure!”

5) Check out the Special Missionary Training Directory Today!

The Evangelical Training Directory at

http://www.etdi.org

is endorsed by the World Evangelical Alliance as a central database of evangelical training worldwide. If anyone has training that they would like people to know about, they can register on the site and then list their training for the whole world to see! (Thanks for the tip, Ian, who, this past week, helped empower Brigada for 2016! We appreciate you!)

6) Curious about Inflation? Need Fodder to Request a Raise?

If you’ve wondered how you might objectively ask for a raise, wonder no more. Click on over to…

http://www.govexec.com/pay-benefits/2015/10/no-cola-retirees-2016/122835/

and

http://www.tradingeconomics.com/country-list/inflation-rate

where you’ll find great stats, charts, and graphs about inflation and its effects on your particular land. Some lands, like the USA, have seen little to know inflation this past year. (So sorry — no raise in sight.) Others, meanwhile, have seen double-digit horrible increases in the pricing for everything from gasoline, bread and electricity. Check it out for YOUR land.
