Brigada – 2024-03-31

1) The Last Edition of 2015: Last Chance to Give to Brigada in 2015

With $400 dollars more arriving over the past week, we now stand at $8487. We have come so far. But as you know, our budget for 2016 is the same as it has been for the past 10+ years: $17,120. We are now 50% of the way there. With $8633 yet to go, there are several ways this could happen. One amazing booster could give an online gift of $8600 and finish the entire campaign — and we’d be set for all of 2016. We wouldn’t mention fundraising again for another year and God would have provided in an amazing way. Or, 86 more “True Fans” of Brigada could step up to the plate to say, “Hey, take this $100 and may it empower you forward for another year of ministry for Jesus Christ to motivate, inform, and resource a world full of workers to reach the world’s remaining unreached peoples.” Either way, would you join us in prayer, thanking God for what He has done so far and asking Him to work mightily in the remaining week? Thank you for your partnership and shared vision. We’ll keep the door open until January 15th. Anything arriving on or before Jan. 15th will be treated as a 2015 goal.

To get on board, just mail a check payable to Team Expansion (Brigada), 13711 Willow Reed Drive, Louisville, KY 40299. Team Expansion is a 501(c)3 incorporation so, for USA citizens, your gift to Christ through Team Expansion is tax-deductible. If you’d rather give online, just click “Donate” in the upper right corner at brigada.org .

3) Tell Jesus’ Story As He Did: Through His Own Stories

People flocked to hear Jesus’ teaching because his stories connected to their hearts. If you want to follow his example, join the StoryRunners Orlando School of Storying (oSOS), March 13-16, 2016 or August 15-19, 2016. Learn how to develop and to use oral bible stories in any kind of ministry setting: for evangelism or discipleship, with individuals or groups, within your own people group or cross-culturally. Hear how to use oral bible storying in church planting among unreached people groups. Check out the oSOS at

4) Learn to Teach English as a Second Language in Asia

Asia’s Center for TESOL in Chiang Mai, Thailand, will be running another class from February 22 to March 25. They will also be teaching TESOL in several other countries that cannot be listed here for security reasons, so feel free to contact them directly for more options. These are five-week courses leading to a TESOL certificate. For the first three weeks the classes are Monday-Friday, 8-4. For the last two weeks, the classes are 8-12, followed by a two-hour practicum in the afternoon or evening. This totals 120 hours in class and 20 hours of practicum (10 hours observing and 10 hours teaching). Fly to Thailand for the course and get the missionary rate. Contact Melody for application forms or more information:

for more prices and other information.

5) Maybe You Can Fly on a Hoverboard to Your Next House Church Group?

Looking for a way to beat the traffic to that next small group you have to facilitate? Look no further. Back to the Future (the movie) was right. 2015 IS the year of the hoverboard.

Exactly what does this have to do with unreached peoples? We’re still working that out. But in the meantime, it sure looks like fun.

6) GMI’s Christmas Page Was Worth the Look

If you haven’t stopped by the Global Mapping Christmas page, it’s worth the look. From what we can see, the offers there still look ‘active.’ Hear a powerful story that pulls together the entire Bible into 3-4 minutes in a narrative you can share with your family, friends and those who don’t know Jesus. Take a moment to listen to the audio of this story or view the entire script and share it generously with those you seek to bless. You can also take a gander at their special Missiographic that shows the global Gospel witness represented on a Christmas Tree. There are even some stocking stuffer books (digital or e-books) to check out as well. Find their Christmas page at…

7) Why “More isn’t always Better,” or — “Please Train them Well”

Steve Jennings recently wrote this blog…

http://9marks.org/article/stop-sending-missionaries-why-more-isnt-always-better/

and we’ve been seeing it get some looks lately. Do you agree with his caution that “More isn’t always better?” Please let us know you’re opinion by clicking “Comment” after the web version of this item. Thanks in advance for sharing your thoughts. (Thanks Eric B, as well as Dan and Meg, for bubbling this up.)
