Note: I fear they’ve closed down, maybe as a result of damage from Hurricane Katrina? I say that only because their site seems down tonight as I’m compiling this. However, if they reopen later, for nearly five decades, they’ve specialized in getting cargo shipped “from anywhere to anywhere” throughout the world for church and other humanitarian groups. Being a fully licensed and bonded international freight forwarder, they can handle virtually all forms of shipping, provide warehousing, and proper documentation. Many large organizations, including several listed in this directory, use their services. In a typical year, they send about 3,000 containers in 20 and 40 foot sizes, and about 30% of their business is with LCLs (less than container loads) and airfreight.

Sending Your Books By The Bag So, how do you get your books to the field? Kerby sends his by the book-bag! “For the last couple of years we have been sending books by the postal service M-BAG rate. This has allowed us to send our books at a rate of 75 cents a pound (or thereabouts) without any customs problems. It takes about six weeks for the books to arrive (by boat) but we have never lost a shipment. This book rate is available to most countries to my understanding. A minimum weight is required by the U.S. Postal Service (I think 20 pounds). My suggestion is that any books sent this way be sent by a larger post office that would be familiar with it. Each box inside the bag should be individually addressed in the language of the nation you are sending it to, I believe.” ————
