12) Praying for 116 “True Fans” of Brigada to give $100 each —

So these greatly-appreciated gifts, $1280 in all, bring our total to $5545.61 for 2010. That’s just $11,574.39 short of our goal for the year. Gulp. Of course, if there were just 11 other churches like the one on the East Coast — it’s doable. Lacking that, we would need about 116 extremely visionary types to each kick in $100. Or any combination of the two. The trouble is, we only have 4 more editions of Brigada remaining (12/12 through Jan. 2). That’s an average of 30 “True Fans” of Brigada each week. Even if you don’t have $100, would you know someone who did, who could give in your stead? Would you consider asking your church or group? If so, just click the “Donate” link at the top of the page at brigada.org. You won’t have to register with PayPal if you don’t want to. (Just click “make a payment without logging in” if you prefer.) We can also set up a regular once-a-month automatic withdraw from your checking account or major credit card. Or, if you prefer, just send an old-fashioned check each month, payable to Team Expansion to: Team Expansion (Brigada), 13711 Willow Reed Dr., Louisville, KY 40299. (Team Expansion is a 501(c)3 incorporation so for USA citizens, your checks made out to Team Expansion are tax-deductible.) Thanks to those who have suggested this cause to their local church missions teams. We appreciate you!

13) To Make Budget, we’ll need $2,500/week :-( —

As mentioned above, we’re so grateful to those who have given throughout the year, but, May the Lord strengthen our faith, having received $4245.61 throughout 2010, $12,874 away from our goal of $17,120. So if there’s someone out there who had contemplated giving $10,000 to Brigada in one huge step of encouragement, now would be a great time. There are just 5 weeks remaining in which you can give. :-(

Just click the “Donate” link at the top of the page at brigada.org. You won’t have to register with PayPal if you don’t want to. (Just click “make a payment without logging in” if you prefer.) We can also set up a regular once-a-month automatic withdraw from your checking account or major credit card. Or, if you prefer, just send an old-fashioned check each month, payable to Team Expansion to: Team Expansion (Brigada), 13711 Willow Reed Dr., Louisville, KY 40299. 13) Can You Help Brigada Make its Goal for 2010? —

Each year, in recent years, Brigada has set a reasonable fundraising goal of $17,120 for the entire year. And each year, God has supplied abundantly through His workers around the world. Thus far in 2010, friends of Brigada have given $4245.61. God be praised. But that’s way low of our goal, by a factor of $12,874. It might look impossible to every make up that kind of ground, but the truth is, if just 130 true fans of Brigada each sent $100 between now and Christmas, the entire amount would be covered. Many have appreciated Brigada’s missions news, resources, and articles down through the years. Now, with our backs against the wall, it would be a fantastic time to step up to the plate. Thanks to God, in advance, for whatever He can accomplish through His people worldwide, for the growth of His Kingdom worldwide. (Team Expansion is a 501(c)3 incorporation so for USA citizens, your checks made out to Team Expansion are tax-deductible.) Thanks to those who have suggested this cause to their local church missions teams. We appreciate you!

8) Ouch: Denial of Service Attack Costs Brigada $352 :-( —

On the one hand, we’re thrilled to be a target. On the other hand, we aren’t that well off financially anyway. A recent denial-of-service attack racked up $352 worth of processing fees on our Authorize.net credit card donation portal. (They didn’t touch the PayPal portal. Remember, if you plan to give via credit card, you can still do so via PayPal without joining their service. Just look for the “Continue without logging in” option to bypass the whole PayPal registration thing.) If you’re in the position to pitch in $35, that would pay 1/10th of our loss and we’d be grateful. We’ll report all donations here in Brigada so you’ll know *exactly* what was given.

19) Two True Fans commit to $100/month; can you join them? —

Hats off to Robby, who wrote to commend Brigada:

“As a mobilization strategist, Brigada serves me in two critical ways

for which I know of no alternative:

*** Bringing to my awareness things I wouldn’t have time to discover on

my own, and

*** Giving me a practical way to let a global audience know about

things they might be interested in.”

He went on to add, “Since reading recently that someone had pledged $100/month to support Brigada, I have felt a growing desire and prompting to follow suit. Yesterday I set up an automated monthly $100 gift to reach you in the early part of each month. Since this comes out of the same missionary support my family lives on, this is not a light decision on my part.” Whoa… Thanks Robby. God bless you! He continued, “In giving in this way I want to express my appreciation and support for the spirit in which you invite donations without requiring them in order to publish items. I am praying that God will stir enough regular donors to eliminate your need to include a financial appeal in each issue of Brigada, and hoping that my example may encourage others to follow suit.”

It’s true.

So that’s 2 out of 15 people needed. If we had but 13 other partners that would be willing to opt for a $100/gift per month, can you imagine the peaceful silence you’d hear in each Brigada? Think of all the extra material you could squeeze in because we wouldn’t ever mention dollars and cents! So — to confirm, our goal for each calendar year (for the past few years) is just $17,120, which is roughly equivalent to 15 people or churches giving $100/month. Please consider taking Robby up on his challenge. Would you be one of the other 13???

Either way, thanks to Robby… and thanks to any who might pick up the baton on his challenge!

10) Empower Brigada to Serve 10,000 Participants Around the Globe —

Did you know that approximately 10,000 people see every Brigada edition? Would you be willing to step up to the plate to empower our future? If you’re not positioned to give at this time, would you please pause and pray for Brigada, its family of 10,000 participants, and its future? One idea: What if you asked your church to make a simple one-time gift of $100 to Brigada before Christmas? Or, just click on one of the “Donor” links at the top of this page at the beginning of each month. Both are safe, the one with PayPal and the other with Authorize.net. Neither requires you to open an account with anyone … and neither ever spams you. But we can also set up a regular once-a-month automatic withdraw from your checking account or major credit card. Set it up once and rest easily, knowing that you’re regularly helping get Brigada on the way to the nations. Or, if you prefer, just send an old-fashioned check each month, payable to Team Expansion to: Team Expansion (Brigada), 13711 Willow Reed Dr., Louisville, KY 40299. (Team Expansion is a 501(c)3 incorporation so for USA citizens, your checks made out to Team Expansion are tax-deductible.) A gift of any size would help, whether monthly or one-time. If you know someone else who might like to help, just hit reply and tell us about him/her/them. Thank you for your help in fueling the fire of Brigada!

4) Let your voice be heard: Mobilize partners for Brigada —

Maybe you can’t give to Brigada personally; but do you know someone who can? A church missions committee, or a person whom God has blessed? If you can think of someone and they agree, they can just click on one of the links at the top of this page. Both links (PayPal and Authoized . net) are safe, the one with PayPal and the other with Authorize.net. Neither requires you to open an account with anyone … and neither ever spams you. But we can also set up a regular once-a-month automatic withdraw from your checking account or major credit card. Set it up once and rest easily, knowing that you’re regularly helping get Brigada on the way to the nations. Or, if you prefer, just send an old-fashioned check each month, payable to Team Expansion to: Team Expansion (Brigada), 13711 Willow Reed Dr., Louisville, KY 40299. 4) Your Gift to Brigada Sends Messages to 10,000 workers —

That’s right: did you know there are 10,000 subscribers to Brigada? And to date, since our founding in 1995, we’ve never signed up anyone else. (Every one of those 10,000 subscribed on his or her own.) So your gift is multiplied many times over when you just click on one of the “Donor” links at the top of this page at the beginning of each month. Both are safe, the one with PayPal and the other with Authorize.net. Neither requires you to open an account with anyone … and neither ever spams you. But we can also set up a regular once-a-month automatic withdraw from your checking account or major credit card. 8) Become a True Friend of Brigada —

Year before last, a friend recommended that we simply endeavor to find 100 friends who would each make a $100 one-time gift to Team Expansion. In a recent edition, we mentioned that a Brigada participant from greater Chicago had set up an “ACH” automated gift to Brigada for $100/month. We also mentioned that if we had just 14 other participants who would step up to the plate and match his move, we would never have to mention finances in Brigada again. What’s more, all our financial needs would be met… and the help we could muster would also help us deliver quality *weekly* editions on-time, on track, and on your screen. If you’re interested in helping make that happen, you can always click on one of the “Donor” links at the top of this page at the beginning of each month. Both are safe, the one with PayPal and the other with Authorize.net. Neither requires you to open an account with anyone … and neither ever spams you. 10) Brigada Authorize.net Hit with Denial of Service Attack —

This morning, our Authorize.net gateway was hit by a denial of service (DoS) attack. *Hundreds* of fake transactions flooded in. Unfortunately, they were all just designed like vandalism, to bleed server MIPs and cost us needless transaction fees. :-( If you’d like to make a *real* donation (even if it’s to help offset the cost of the attack), we’d praise the Lord for it. In a recent edition, we mentioned that a Brigada participant from greater Chicago had set up an “ACH” automated gift to Brigada for $100/month. We also mentioned that if we had just 14 other participants who would step up to the plate and match his move, we would never have to mention finances in Brigada again.
