That’s the title of a special one-evening seminar being staged by the Emmanuel Institutes, Apr. 19th, 7-9pm. Utilizing the relatively new mission curriculum, Kairos (a heart-oriented partner to the highly- acclaimed course entitled Perspectives on the World Christian Movement), the seminar will explore the mission aspect of the Great Commission. Participants will discover what the Bible says about world mission, an overview of the history of missions, cross-cultural communications for mission work, and strategies to employ to finish the remaining task. 13) The BackPage: How Do we Really Mobilize Nationals For Their Own? –

Seems like, by now, we’d have this down pat. But in a recent conversation with a good friend, his response came back like this: “I fear we are still mobilizing Americans to go to countries where colonialism and recent foreign policy has pretty much burned the bridges for Americans to serve there. People in the heart of the Muslim world are in their hearts resistant to Good News when delivered by Americans. How do we better utilize the money from the West but send workers from cultures closer to those where the remaining UUPGs live?” No my response was, “It varies. In some parts of the Muslim world, we might be despised. But in other parts, they constantly say, “You are American? You are my friend. You might not be the friend of my government, but — hey — I’m not a friend to my government either!”

So what’s your take? Are you in the first camp? (the “bridges are burned,”) or the second (“You’re American? You’re my friend.”). 13) The BackPage: Would you Help us Plan a Mobilization Event? –

We’re down to the wire. We probably need to decide several things ASAP. First, we need to settle on a major “tag line” under our theme. Second, we need to decide which medium (or media) we will use to convey the message. Third, we should probably come up with a manageable list of proposed unreached people groups and cities. Fourth and finally, we need to recruit and train 150 volunteers to speak face to face with the responders we hope God will raise.

Would you have a moment to help us with a brief survey? It won’t take long. There are just 5 questions. It might take as little as 3 minutes. Four of them parallel the exact items we’ve mentioned above. The 5th question just asks if you have any other ideas. There are slots to fill in your name and email address if you’d like to follow on with the project, but those aren’t really necessary. In fact, you can complete the survey completely anonymously if you desire. (Note: there’s a required blank at the end which asks for an email address to verify your identity. that email address won’t be used for any other purpose other than verifying your identity. In other words, if that’s the only blank into which you type your email address, you won’t be recontacted about this initiative.)

Your help would be *greatly* appreciated. We’ll update you here on the progress for our planning, as well as the results God produces. Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer. Here’s the link to the survey:

11) The BackPage: How Would You Set Up This Mobilization Event?

Suppose you were asked to head up a mobilization component of a large convention of churches, pastors, and church members. During the event, the president of the church conference wants you to help him roll out a 350′ scroll listing the world’s unreached peoples. Suppose he wants to dare conference participants to do something radical — to ‘adopt’ one of the world’s unreached peoples and make it an urgent passion to get good news to each man and woman in that culture. Suppose the president arranges for you to have an “adoption center” front and center of the whole convention, which might attract 10,000 people.

Where would you recommend printing such a long banner at a bargain price (to be purchased with mission dollars)?
What would you put on the banner (to be viewed by 10,000 people in the main auditorium)?
How would you set up the “adoption center” itself?
How would you arrange follow-up?

Keep in mind, the emphasis is not on channeling the churches and individuals to any one organization or ministry. Instead, the focus would be toward unreached peoples. But how would you recommend maximizing the impact for the world’s unreached?

5) Mobile Ministry Strategy Network Formed —

The first-ever “Mobile Ministry Forum” assembled 16 mission strategists representing 15 organizations for two days in early December 2010 to focus exclusively on the mobile platform’s potential role in the fulfillment of the Great Commission.
