  1. MISSION HELP – FOR MISSIONARY AGENCIES — Mission Help is designed as a tool to help facilitate questions and responses from one missionary agency to many missionary agencies. Occasionally, one missionary agency will find a better way to do things that may be of some benefit to other mission organizations. To exchange ideas, subscribe to Mission Help and join in emailing questions and responses to members. You may also visit Mission Help’s website to see some of the resources available by going to http://missionhelp.injesus.com

  2. HUMAN RESOURCE AND MISSIONARY TRACKING PROGRAM NEEDED — Brian <bmastersatcaminternationaldotorg  (bmastersatcaminternationaldotorg)  > is looking for a good program to track missionaries, their ministries, their vital information, their education, etc.? (HR stuff). If you’ve got a lead, please drop him a note… and he’ll report back here in a couple of weeks.

  3. ENGLISH FOR MISSIONARIES (EFM) — Here’s a seminar being offered from September 8 to December 5, 2003 at Gateway Missionary Training Centre near Vancouver, Canada. EFM is an intensive course designed to take advanced learners (IELTS 5.5 or TOEFL 500) to university entrance level (IELTS 6 or TOEFL550). It is also meant for missionaries who need a higher level of English in order to work more effectively on a multi- national team. Each week twenty-one hours of instruction are given. The course fee is $2100 Canadian or approximately $1400 US. The fee includes tuition, room, board, textbooks, internet access and transportation to and from the airport. Health insurance, long distance phone calls and other personal expenses are not covered. The course is open to twelve students. For more information or applications write <infoatgatewaytrainingdotorg> or log on at: http//www.gatewaytraining.org </infoatgatewaytrainingdotorg>

  4. CD-ROM RECRUITMENT: IS IT EFFECTIVE? — Brian <bmastersatcaminternationaldotorg  (bmastersatcaminternationaldotorg)  > would like to know the effectiveness of CD-Rom recruitment tools that many ministries use. Has anyone studied the return on investment for this medium? How many people joined or found out about the organization because of the CD? Is the CD the main tool or does it supplement other materials? What type of response is your organization receiving because of the CD? Are the people responding in their 20’s-30’s; 30’s-40’s; 40’s-50’s; etc.? How has it affected donations? Jot him a note… and he’ll report his findings back here in a couple of weeks.

  5. CHRISTIAN MISSIONS AND THE KURDS . . . BEFORE SADDAM! — Here’s a book resource for understanding the church’s approach over the centuries to the people of Kurdistan which includes Northern Iraq and Eastern Turkey. “Ethnic Realities And The Church: Lessons From Kurdistan, A History of Mission Work”, 1668-1990, by Robert I. Blincoe, 1998, 263 pp., is essential reading for those wishing to take the gospel to a post-Saddam Kurdistan. Ethnic Realities can be purchased from the Presbyterian Center for Mission Studies, 1605 E. Elizabeth Street, Pasadena, CA, 91104 for $12.95 plus S & H. Website: http://www.prescms.org/pcms_resources.html or email <pcmsatpcusadotorg  (pcmsatpcusadotorg)  >.

  6. ANSWERING ISLAM CD-EDITON NOW AVAILABLE — Looking for a comprehensive resource on all things Islamic? Here is what you need: The CD edition of Answering Islam ( http://www.answering-islam.org ) gives you some 270 MB of resource material on understanding Muslims and Islam, evangelistic tracts designed for Muslims, articles defending the Christian faith against the attacks of Muslim polemics, answers to common and uncommon Muslim questions regarding the Bible and the position of Jesus Christ, more than a hundred testimonies of converts from Islam to Christ, an analysis of the political side of Islam and much more. It’s a vast library of some 5,000+ articles and classical out-of-print and hard-to- get books, mostly English, but includes material in eight languages (even a ninth in the first downloadable update to the CD). And the best: The CD comes with the permission to freely copy and distribute it (as long as that is done free of charge) plus regular free internet updates of the CD content as this is a fast growing site. Price: US-$ 15.00 plus shipping. Order the CD: http://www.answering-islam.org/ordercd.html For further questions, email (please manually remove the two _ characters before emailing)

  7. AVIATION MINISTRY IN CENTRAL ASIA — An aviation group dedicated to meeting the needs of believers (encouraging isolated folks, reaching many unreached groups via many organizations) as well as a blessing to the region (medical and food drops, ambulance flights) is starting in central Asia. Future plans include reaching all of the “-stans” with low-cost flights and cargo deliveries — stuff the commercial guys don’t handle. For less than the cost of an aviation engine in the West, they’ll be flying a freshly refurbished plane, as well as employing locals. If you’d like to fly for them — or pray for them — contact Robert at <robertsatvpn2000dotnet  (robertsatvpn2000dotnet)  >.

  8. WANT TO LEARN HOW TO RAISE FUNDS? — See if you can get a spot at “The Jesus Film Project Development Training Seminar”, to be held in San Clemente, from 1:30 pm until 5:30 pm on Thursday, April 24, and 9:00 am until 3:30 pm on Friday. The new $50 registration fee must be received by March 31. If you are planning to attend, please make your check payable to The Jesus Film Project and send it to the attention of Marlene Leake, The Jesus Film Project, 910 Calle Negocio, Suite 300, San Clemente, CA 92673.

  9. LOOKING FOR A PLACE TO SERVE? —- Do you hanker for the time when people worked with their hands and went to bed tired? Are you in need of a place that is so remote that visitors have to be flown in? How long has it been since you encountered a bear on the way to breakfast? Join the saints of SERVE to work on a retreat facility at Kako in far western Alaska. The time will be spend preparing for a summer of family camps by sawing and dressing wood, building out buildings, cleaning and repairing cabins and cooking for the workers. You will come away refreshed, strong and with a clear certainty that you have been doing the Lord’s work. Dates: May 20-June 5th. Contact Tom <tlcatgatetekdotcom  (tlcatgatetekdotcom)  > or see the web site: http://www.serve-intl.org.

  1. FINALLY! A PORNOGRAPHY FILTER THAT WORKS — Have you been searching for an Internet pornography filter, just to be on the safe side? Maybe you’re looking for something for the kids’ computer, or even your own. Maybe you have Windows XP and the ones you’ve tried haven’t been fully compatible? Your wait is over. Here’s a piece of software that will protect your entire browsing/email environment … and for a reasonable price. I’ve been trying it out — and I can tell you, there is no noticeable speed hit whatsoever. It’s a great program — and it *works*. Try it out yourself for 10 days for free!!! Just log on at: http://www.integrity.com/index.php?siteid=19955 What’s more, here’s a chance to protect yourself and your computer *plus* help Brigada! For everyone who clicks through the above link in the next two weeks, then buys “Everyware” there, the designers of the software will send a $5 sponsorship to Brigada!!! With 100% of this new funding, we’d like to hire a secretary to act as a Brigada Customer Service Rep. to make address changes and handle other Brigada-related issues with the Brigada family of participants. We already have a person in mind — and her name is Penny! [my wife!!! As soon as we can get her some money flowing in, she’s quitting her teaching job to do it.] So please… run, don’t walk, and set up your new Integrity Online account!!!) :-)
  2. [Note: As of Dec., 2003, only six people had subscribed to Integrity Online. As of that date, that still wasn’t even enough to produce the first sponsorship check. :-( Not a very fruitful way to fund a Brigada secretary, unfortunately.]

  3. ORAL “STORYING” TOOLBOX NOW AVAILABLE — What a dynamite series of CD presentations, presented in a folksy “round table” discussion… in a professional yet informal way. Find out about world view and “orality”, see how oral learners take in information, and discover a great case study in presenting an approach for evangelism. Learn more at: http://www.fjseries.org . If you order before April 1st, you can get special start-up pricing. This set would be great to prepare cross-cultural workers in the art of “storying” — chronological story-telling. Use it in your mission’s pre-field orientation, pass the set around to your team members, or “check them out” like a library resource. They’re great!

  4. FOR THOSE WHO WANT A FILTERED ISP — As the nation’s leading filtered ISP, Integrity Online has been protecting tens of thousands of families since 1996. Their content management technology works to eliminate all obscene and inappropriate web material and unsolicited junk emails before they reach your computer. Utilizing artificial intelligence, this technology instantly analyzes over 800 different parameters of each web page, determining if the content is obscene or inappropriate. A special Integrity Online block page will appear each time someone in-advertently or intentionally tries to access an inappropriate site from your computer. Integrity Online account includes 5 fully filtered email addresses with a special feature allowing you to decide who can and can’t send you emails. The customizable filter on this service also sends all spam directly to a junk mail folder that is passcode protected. Also, if you have been thinking about getting your own website, Integrity Online will provide you with the web space to put your site online. For only $21.95 per month, you get filtered web access, 5 filtered email addresses, and personal web space from Integrity Online. This price is less than the basic service offered from most unfiltered service providers. To sign up, click on this link: http://www.integrity.com/index.php?siteid=19955 Here you can sign up online or call them toll free or via Net2phone for 1.866.449.1736 and they will answer your questions and sign you up. (What’s more, for everyone that signs up with them, they’ll sponsor Brigada to the tune of $25!!! Same as above, with 100% of this new funding, we’d like to hire a secretary to act as a Brigada Customer Service Rep. to make address changes and handle other Brigada-related issues with the Brigada family of participants. Our previous Customer Service Reps. recently informed us that they had been unable to help us for quite some time. They were volunteers… and have just run out of time. :-( So… can you help us make it possible for Penny to do this for our Brigada family? Please… run, don’t walk, and set up your new Integrity Online account!!!) :-)

  5. LEARN TO TEACH ENGLISH IN CHINA! — WTO and the 2008 Beijing Olympics have heightened the existing desire of the Chinese people to learn English. China wants trained native English Speakers. Take your TESOL in China and stay to teach or go somewhere else in the world to teach. Course is taught by qualified American instructors. The course is both academic and practical. A two-three week teaching practicum is part of the course giving you the experience and confidence you need to begin teaching immediately! The next course is scheduled for July 4 – August 15, 2003 in Shanghai, Peoples Republic of China. Please note that emails are received and read in China. Please leave out any acronyms or references to organizations. For more info, log on at: http://www.tesoltraining.com or email <tesol2001athotmaildotcom  (tesol2001athotmaildotcom)   or> <dvscottatgalacticommdotorg>. </dvscottatgalacticommdotorg>

  6. DOUG’S WIFE TO HELP CLEAN UP THE MAILING LIST — To get to the bottom of the 5,222 or so addresses that seem to be bouncing, Doug’s wife, Penny, is going to start cleaning up the place! :-) Seriously… over the next few weeks, Lord willing (if we can float it!), Penny will begin researching those addresses to determine whether or not they’re “dead” … or just temporarily out of order. Just as soon as we can get some money flowing in to replace her teacher’s salary, she’s going to dive into this full-tilt, and also be available to help Brigada participants with those pesky address changes. Finally… a staff person!!! Either way, we’re thrilled that you’ve helped grow the Brigada family by over 200 addresses in the past month alone! Thanks for spreading the word!!! If we can find just two more participants by next week, we’ll be up to 8,000 *good* addresses! Can you think of two people you can invite on the list? If so, just send them this message: “Hey… have you ever heard of Brigada Today? Each weekend, it comes to my inbox filled with tons of resources, ideas, and mobilization news about Missions and unreached peoples — and helps for the people involved in making missions happen. Try it! Just send a note to: brigada-today-subscribeatyahoogroupsdotcom  (brigada-today-subscribeatyahoogroupsdotcom)   And … by the way… your address is secret with them. They pay YahooGroups so there are no ads in the email… and they never release your address to *anybody*, even at gunpoint! :-) They’ve been sending these newsletters out weekly for over 8 years! See their back-issues at: http:/www.brigada.org (click on “Index of back issues”) Check it out!”

Thanks.

  10. INDIA RESOURCES WEBSITE LAUNCHED — Doing ministry in North India? Need good quality Hindi language materials for Evangelism? Children’s Ministry? Discipleship? Etc.? Or other Indian languages? Wonder if someone has already translated that good book or video into Hindi or other Indian language? Then log onto http://www.indiaresources777.org Here you can find an extensive database of Christian resources available within India with a focus on Hindi language materials, although other Indian languages are also included. There are well over 700 resources already in our database and it is growing. Search by category, language and media type to find what you need. Useful website resources are also included. For details, contact <infoatindiaresources777dotorg  (infoatindiaresources777dotorg)  >.

  11. RASCALS AT SPAMARREST — Those rascals at SpamArrest. Not long ago, a few of our Brigada participants must have started using their service. We received an email from SpamArrest saying that if these participants were to keep their Brigada subscription going, we had to log on to the SpamArrest website and read this graphic image of a word, then type it into the blank. Well it sounded harmless enough, though I’ll admit — if even 1000 of our readers suddenly set up SpamArrest accounts, we’d never get anything else done! Well either way, like a completely trusting fool, I logged on at the SpamArrest site and dutifully typed in the word. Now, yesterday, I get spam from SpamArrest itself! I’m not joking. It’s one of the most ironic twists in marketing that I’ve ever seen. The very company purporting to stop spam *engaged* in it! I wrote them to complain, but I figure… all it might do is let them know my email address is “good”, so my address will be fired up to a higher level of trust, or something. Sure it had a link on it saying, “Click here to be removed from our marketing list”, but articles everywhere have told us *not* to click there, because sometimes that’s just a trick to discover which addresses are actually *good* (current, or at least spelled correctly). The bottom line: If a spam company is going to require mail senders to fill out a “graphical word” or something, they shouldn’t *market* those who innocently take part. Oh well, … once bitten… twice shy. Just remember — we’ll never be participating in anything SpamArrest sends out again. Rascals.

  12. SPACE SHUTTLE TRACT BRINGS COMFORT IN CRISIS — The American Tract Society has now published a new tract that deals with the recent space shuttle tragedy: “Lost: Space Shuttle Columbia.” ATS says, “Many are turning to God…and the awareness of faith is being played out in all the media. The nation is searching for answers about this tragedy. This is an opportunity to help people come to know Jesus Christ as their Savior.” Read these tracts online and order them to use as a Christian witness to your world. Order from the American Tract Society, PO Box 462008, Garland TX 75046-2008 or call toll free or via net2phone 1-800- 548-7228 or log on at http://www.atstracts.org or http://www.atsdirect.org or email <atsatatstractsdotorg  (atsatatstractsdotorg)  >.

  13. BOOT CAMP FOR PERSONAL SUPPORT RAISING — Boot Camp is a practical and biblically based 2-day training seminar for new and veteran missionaries alike who need to learn how to raise their personal support or may need a new perspective on this critical area. 15. TRAVEL/HEALTH ADVICE — Taking vaccines available easily prevents many of the illnesses missionaries may face whilst on mission away from home. Passport Health, a US based travel medicine clinic, with offices throughout the United States, stresses the importance of keeping all routine vaccines, like Tetanus/Diphtheria, up to date. Other vaccines, for e.g. yellow fever, may be required, depending on your specific destination & medical history. The most common ailment, however, still remains traveler’s diarrhea, as your digestive system struggles to come to terms with the new foods & water sources of your home away from home. The treatment of choice remains taking an antibiotic, anti- diarrheal & fluid replacement. When preparing for your trip, take time to visit your local travel clinic like Passport Health. They have a wealth of up to date information with regard to your destination, which will help keep you safe & healthy during your travels. Remember; don’t let your heart’s work be ruined by falling ill. For further information, see their website at http://www.passporthealthusa.com.

  20. WOULD YOU GO IF GOD CALLED YOU TO THE MISSION FIELD? — ‘When God Comes Calling’ is a compelling new book by Mike Linville recounting the inspiring, true story of how God sent an ordinary Midwestern family of five to the mission field, a mere sixty miles from the radioactive wasteland known as Chernobyl. Despite KGB raids and mysterious phone taps, government harassment and eviction, they experienced God’s amazing power and intervention as He used them to build a Bible college in the former Soviet Union, and now what some say is the first pastoral counseling training institute in the former Soviet Union, under the auspices of International Faith Initiatives, Inc. Retailing at $12.99, Brigada readers may purchase at the discounted price of $10.50. Bulk/wholesale pricing is available. 1. HOW MANY BRIGADA READERS ARE THERE? — Well that depends on whether or not you count the 5040 members whose addresses are currently bouncing. The moral of the story: be sure to unsubscribe from your old address before you unplug for good. Then subscribe anew from your new service once it’s up and running. There are currently about 7694 “active” or “good” addresses, meaning that we’ve seen over 12,000 different subscriber addresses down through the last few years. (Please remember: It’s easy to maintain your own address information. What’s more, there’s no way Brigada volunteers can hope to do it for you. There are just too many subscribers, too little time, too many changes. Thanks for understanding!) Would you do us a favor and help us increase our readership over these next 3 weeks? We don’t have funds for big marketing gimmicks, but we’d love to grow. If every active participant would find just one new subscriber, we could easily break back above the benchmark of 10,000 active addresses. Please help! Just suggest to your mission or church staff that they subscribe. It’s easy. All they have to do is write to <brigada-today-subscribeatyahoogroupsdotcom>. By the way, we will never give your information to *anybody*. </brigada-today-subscribeatyahoogroupsdotcom>

  2. OPTIONS FOR FILTERING YOUR INTERNET EXPERIENCE — Need good options for keeping your family … or *you* … honest on the web? (… so that you don’t get caught in the trap of looking at sites or pictures that you know you shouldn’t). One option: Check out http://www.covenanteyes.com These folks have designed software that automatically emails your accountability partners a list of the sites you’ve visited over the past month. The service will set you back about $7/month, but it’ll keep you honest. No extra cash for the moment? Try http://www.we-blocker.com The we-blocker people offer their software for free (donations suggested). They maintain both a central list of sites that are “off- limits”, as well as allow you to customize a list of “forbidden words”. Sites that contain these words are automatically blocked as well. You can over-ride those settings with a completely flexible set of conditional configurations. Great little program, little performance hits, big payoffs for your kids, family, and you. Tip: If you have trouble with this area, ask your spouse to type in the master password so you’ll enjoy filtered Internet browsing as well.

  3. BOOK ON HOUSEHELPERS — Have you ever wondered just how much of a help it is to hire househelp? Now you can get the lowdown without ever leaving your doorstep, by reading Beatrice Lawson’s book, “Househelps: Blessing or Curse?” Published by Africa Christian Press (Achimota, Ghana), this little booklet teaches you how to make the most of a househelper if you choose to hire one. Learn how to recruit, set up a contract, and head off potential pitfalls. To negotiate a price for your own organization or training program… or to get a copy for your own family, inquire about pricing directly with the publisher at <acpbooksatghanadotcom> . </acpbooksatghanadotcom>

  13. HOW TO TRANSFER MONEY TO & FROM THE FIELD — Here’s Greg’s summary of the responses he received regarding how to transfer money to and from the mission field. (Item 4 in the Dec. 27th, ’02, Brigada Today, entitled, “HOW DO YOU WIRE YOUR FUNDS?”): “Put money in US bank account and have person use debit card or credit card in receiving country at an ATM or bank (7 mentions) This was clearly the cheapest and quickest. You just have to be careful who has access to the account and in a few places it can be hard to find an ATM or a bank that will advance local money against your card. Others suggested the old standby… Western Union (4 Mentions). Reliable but not cheap. Can be done on the web. Another response: Wire transfer to bank in receiving country (2 mentions), which is a bit costly and if the money gets lost (and they do) banks will not accept responsibility. Finally, one party mentioned actually hand-carrying the funds. So… no real surprises. Maybe we’ll see more developments on this in the next decade, but for now, it seems we’re stuck with these old standbys. (Thanks Greg!)

This all began because Mariposa and a friend (2 women) are seeking a place to stay in rural France from January 5 – 10, 2003. They were thinking, “Hey… we could exchange hospitality in a Los Angeles suburb for a different time.” Sounds like a great idea. They’ll assemble the directory, then we’ll publish it here in an autoresponder. It’s a great idea — and I’m surprised we haven’t done it before!!! </singinheartataoldotcom>

  11. THE BACK PAGE — The Middle School soccer team I coach has had a good season. We lost only once… our first game… and even that, we lost only by one goal, and our opponent scored that goal in the last 10 seconds of the game. Throughout the rest of the season, we never lost again. So our team had become fairly accustomed to winning. They weren’t showy or cocky, mind you … (well, maybe a couple were just a tad cocky :-) ), but they always treated the opponent with dignity and congratulated them on a good effort (after we would trounce them 4- 0 or whatever :-) ).

This past week was different. It was the post-season tournament. And we had drawn the enviable position of first seed, meaning that we had a “bye” until the semifinals. Trouble was, our opponent was one of the toughest challenges in the tournament (at least, in my assessment). They had, in my opinion, great foot skills, a great short-passing game, tons of combination play, and lots of excitement and eagerness. Plus the tournament was being played on their home field. Yikes.

We had beaten them 3-0 during the regular season. But I told our team before the game that they would be out for revenge. I was right.

Despite our best efforts, our most intense training, and our high spirits, we were unable to pull off a victory. After we scored first, they inched ahead 2-1 off a bobbling ball in a crowded box that our keeper just couldn’t snag. Rats. We lost. (Insult to injury: one of our defenders was called for tripping in the box later in the game, resulting in a PK, which they converted, making the final score 3-1.)

After the game, I gathered the team together, arms over each others’ shoulders. I quickly told all our players, “We’ve won again and again with class… Let’s lose with class too.” We shook their hands and told them “good game.” I congratulated the other coach on a game that his team had won fair and square. I tried to help our team see that the outcome was actually out of our control. All we could do was focus on the process. If, in spite of doing our best effort with our best training, we lost… then so be it. Our satisfaction had to come from knowing we did our best.

As workers for Christ abroad, we won’t always be able to control the outcome of our ministries. We owe it to our supporters, our families, ourselves, and our Lord to do our best… with the best tools, the best energy, and the best personnel we can muster. But at the end of the day, if our campaign doesn’t yield the results for which we hoped,… if our correspondence course fizzles, … if nobody comes to the movie night, … if attendance drops when it should climb… at the end of the day… we can’t control the outcome. We can only control the process. Granted, we need to be sure we’re seeking out the best training, the most effective methods and resources, and the absolute best coaching (both from earthly mentors as well as the Father of Lights). But having done all that, … life goes on. There’ll be another movie night, with a different movie. I mean… speaking of movies… not even Tom Hanks gets the girl back in _Cast Away_. :-) Remember what he said? “Another breath. Another day. Life goes on.” Good advice for discouraged team members… and maybe for discouraged missionaries too. Life goes on.

  1. NEED A RETREAT CENTER? — Thanks to the hard work of Jolene, now you’ve got a great list from which to work! Get her list by sending a note to: <retreat-centersatbrigadadotorg> This list of Christian Retreat Centers includes everything from a “prophet’s room” in someone’s home to a luxury resort… from quiet time alone with no interruptions to professional counseling to a full day’s activities… from a percentage off normal fees to partially subsidized to suggested donation to the ministry to completely free of charge … The focus of these centers varies from crisis counseling to solitude, worship and prayer to spiritual revitalization. This same information is also available on the Internet at the Resource Center of the International Worship & Arts Network, where additions and corrections will be made as new information is acquired. See it at: http://www.worship-arts-network.com/OCretreatcenters.html Thanks for your hard work Jolene! </retreat-centersatbrigadadotorg>

  2. ANOTHER POP-UP EXTERMINATOR — Even though Pop-Up Killer has been killed (see the July 21 issue), there’s another pop-up killer that comes recommended by Tim and it’s also free. It’s called Pop-Up Stopper. It also has the advantage of being able to launch a window that would ordinarily be quashed by using some simple key strokes while clicking. It also comes in enhanced shareware versions. Find out more at: http://www.panicware.com/popupstopper.html

  3. EXPLORE YOUR OPTIONS AT THE USCWM — If you ever thought of working “behind-the-scenes” in missions mobilization, training, strategy or services, then perhaps “EXPLORE” is for you. Designed for people who wish to learn more about the U.S. Center for World Mission in Pasadena, CA, this 4-day seminar covers the history, impact and mission of the USCWM, with a focus on how you might use your gifts here to reach unreached people groups out there. The next EXPLORE Seminar is scheduled for September 25 – 28, 2002. Space is limited, so register early. For more information, please visit the USCWM website http://www.uscwm.org , or email <daviddotflynnatuscwmdotorg> . </daviddotflynnatuscwmdotorg>

  4. WANTED: A BUSINESS PLAN — Here’s a Brigada participant named Roland who would like to know if there are any successful business plans that have been developed which would provide support by and for ministry at the local level. He wrote, “There are passionate and capable indigenous leaders who are often consumed by economic struggle. Traditionally, the solution has been to raise support in America and then ship a portion of that money overseas. This system also has a tendency to develop an unhealthy dependence on stateside resources or force those in ministry to become full-time fundraisers themselves.” If you’re got a suggested plan for Roland to add to his compilation, send it on: <rolanddotheckatattdotnet>. Once he has a collection, we’ll share it with everyone here at Brigada. </rolanddotheckatattdotnet>

  5. ARABIC RESOURCES NEEDED — Workers in the 10/40 are putting together a “virtual library” of Arabic language resources (Bibles, Bible Studies, Books, etc.). This will allow Arab believers to access materials wherever they are via the Internet or CDROM. If you have or know of any resources that could be used in this “virtual library”, please, contact . If you have resources in *print*, please drop a note to <researchatsimdotorgdotza> . Once these directories are compiled, we’ll make them directory available in a sensitive way. </researchatsimdotorgdotza>

  6. FOR THOSE INVOLVED IN ESTABLISHING HOUSE CHURCHES… — You’ve *got* to see this list of ideas and resources: http://disciplethenations.org/index86.html#HC Whew! What a great collection! (Thanks Grace!!!)

  7. LEARN HOW TO RAISE FUNDS AND FRIENDS — Here’s a course that the author says will help you “Move beyond the fear factor and raise more funds in half the time.” The People Raising Coaches Clinic shows you how. Implement 10 key habits for success. In addition, you’ll be able to network with other Christian leaders responsible for coaching their staff in support raising. Get it all at a 2-day conference October 11- 12! Register by September 12th and save $50. For more information or to register on-line go to http://www.peopleraising.com/conferences.cfm or e-mail <billatpeopleraisingdotcom>. </billatpeopleraisingdotcom>

If you are a missionary candidate, tent maker, or short-term missionary to the Hindu world, this training will assist you in understanding the Hindu worldview and effectively communicate the Gospel to the Hindus. Led by Natun Bhattacharya, himself from a Hindu Priest family and an experienced cross-cultural trainer, the training will also include facilitators from a variety of backgrounds (missionaries and Indian Pastors), with expertise in Hinduism. This is a unique training opportunity for those interested in working with people from Hindu faith. 2. ACTIONS AT THE 4TH TIE CONGRESS — … included the election of Dr. Danny Martin as the new International Director. His first order of business was commending and thanking the outgoing director, Mrs. Berit Helgoy Kloster, of Norway. Dr. Martin has proposed that TIE become a more service oriented organization with its headquarters in Phuket, Thailand along with the Asia Center for World Missions. Ben Bester, former director and training specialist from South Africa’s Global Careers, has joined the Asia Center staff and will be responsible for TIE’s training information. TIE is planning to send out monthly news letters via email. If you are interested in receiving a copy notify <Benjaminatasiacenterdotac  (Benjaminatasiacenterdotac)  > . The full story and list of resources in on the web: http:\\www.tieinfo.com

  3. TESOL IN LEBANON, PA. — Lebanon’s next TESOL course begins September 23, 2002 and ends October 18, 2002. The total cost: $950.00 plus a $35.00 registration fee. 5. USA RURAL ISP — For those needing an Internet Service Provider in rural areas, try this. The system only uses 1-800 numbers so there is no hassle with local access numbers or credit cards. The charge is 6- 1/2 cents per minute and you can connect at hotels, phone booths, truck stops, libraries or wherever a phone line is that will accept 1-800 numbers (and most will). Prepaid service may be purchased online and there is no expiration date or penalty for not using the minutes and there is no monthly service charge. http://www.BAMnet.com or call 1-877-322-6638. Thanks Rich! ( <richatbamnetdotcom  (richatbamnetdotcom)  >)

  6. CROSS-CULTURAL MISSIONS AND THE WEB — Very few mission groups actually use the Web for direct evangelism, even though it is a key to the 10-40 Window. The Internet is a medium just waiting for missions to exploit – and returned/retired missionaries too. The Web Evangelism Guide is available free for any mission to insert as a syndicated page within their own website, blending in completely and with the opportunity for a customized introduction and ending. See what it could look like on your site:

  7. FREE SOFTWARE TO HELP RAISE SUPPORT — Keep track of all your ministry supporters using the RDMA (Resource Development Ministry Application) version 2.0. Written for missionaries, this software helps you keep track of all basic information, communication, and financial transactions for each church or individual that helps support you. It also provides an easy way to print out mailing labels for selected groups. Go to http://members.truepath.com/rdma to find out more information and download it. If you have any questions, feel free to email <AldotSchaueratnetzerodotnet  (AldotSchaueratnetzerodotnet)  >.

  8. NEED A PRIVATE MAILBOX? — Try http://www.pmbx.net. “Ron” seems to have what it takes to serve you! Check it out!

  9. GET THE SCOOP ON INSURANCE — Thanks to our good friend, Ken, for refreshing the file on insurance for missionaries. Get a copy of the latest compilation by sending an email to: <insuranceatbrigadadotorg  (insuranceatbrigadadotorg)  > and a revised version of our previously available insurance auto- responder will be sent your way. (Thanks Ken!)

  10. TEFL JOB INFO — The English Job Maze is a new secular international ESL/EFL job & information site for ESL teachers and employers around the world. But it is also much more than ‘just another’ ESL job site. It contains a wealth of free TESL industry- related info for teachers, including ‘Countries @ a Glance’ – the most comprehensive TESL guide to pay, taxes, visas, etc, in 50 of the world’s most popular teaching destinations.

    http://www.englishjobmaze.com (Thanks Tony!)

  11. THE BACKPAGE: 10 CHURCH PLANTING ELEMENTS — Ten Universal Elements. That’s what David Garrison found while researching for his little booklet, _Church Planting Movements_. He found that, after surveying church planting movements (CPMs) around the world, these 10 elements seemed present in every single one of them. It probably goes without saying, then, that those who want to start a CPM would want to invest some time in figuring out how to implement these 10 practices as a matter of course:

    *** Prayer
    *** Abundant gospel sowing
    *** Intentional church planting
    *** Scriptural authority
    *** Local leadership
    *** Lay leadership
    *** Cell or house churches
    *** Churches planting churches
    *** Rapid reproduction
    *** Healthy churches

I suppose some of those are common sense. For example, healthy churches grow faster than unhealthy churches… “Duh!” But the truth is, we seldom think *proactively* about all 10 items comprehensively. And maybe that’s part of what helps a church to grow — thinking about doing it all right in *concert*, so all 10 cylinders hit in stride at the same time!

That’s probably what it’s going to take in some of our tougher fields. I suppose that’s what it *might* take in yours.

God bless your weekend! (Note: See David’s complete little booklet at: http://www.imb.org/CPM/default.htm What’s more, at: http://www.imb.org/GlobalVision/NewDirections/new_direction_dir.htm get it as a PDF, or in Spanish as either a PDF or Word doc. To order a free copy while quantities last, see… http://resources.imb.org/index.cfm/fa/prodlist/CatID/5/DeptID/1.htm Thanks to David and the folks at the IMB for unselfishly making it available on the web!)

  1. MISSIONS MAPS ON CD-ROM AVAILABLE NOW! — GMI has just released WorldVue: The Great Commission Map Collection, containing over 500 maps and graphs in popular digital graphics formats. All the missions themes from GMI’s overhead transparency sets are included, plus political maps of each country and region. View them on screen, print them, or copy and paste them into your electronic documents. No royalty fees are required to use the images for most Christian ministry purposes. For Windows and Mac, WorldVue sells for $39.95, but for Brigada Today subscribers we have negotiated the special price of *$29.95* (plus shipping and tax) for orders placed by June 22. To order, go to http://www.gmi.org/brigada or contact Lorri at <infoatgmidotorg> or phone 719-531- 3599. </infoatgmidotorg>

  2. CATCH THE POTENTIAL OF THOSE MAPS — I hope you were able to imagine the potential of that map software in the item above. I’ll give you an example. My CD came on a Friday. I grabbed it and headed out the door for a weekend speaking engagement to a church of 2000. By Sunday morning, my presentation was practically *revolutionized* by the inclusion of richly-researched maps about the country I was highlighting in my message. It doesn’t really matter which part of the world you have to cover — this one’s got at least *something* on just about *everywhere*. There are GIFs, TIFs, and a ton of other formats… with all different pixel ratios and sizes, so it’ll adapt to the level of resolution and clarity you need. And the interface couldn’t be simpler. The maps aren’t locked into some kind of weird format that forces you to send royalty payments to the authors every time you turn around. Get this — there are *hundreds*, maybe *thousands* of maps on this CD — and they’re all available for this one $30 price. I bought a CD not long ago from a commercial vendor for $60… something like “Coolmaps” or whatever. I’ve barely used it. The maps weren’t as focused on missions… and frankly, it just wasn’t as easy to implement. If you’re a mobilizer — or if you’re a goer — either way, if you print brochures, newsletters, or flyers, get this CD. I guarantee you’ll find something useful within one month. If you don’t, send it back to GMI and I bet they’ll cheerfully refund your money. And in case you were wondering, I don’t work for them — and they’re not giving me any kind of benefit “cut” for this announcement. I’m just one beggar telling another where to find bread. :-)

  3. LEARN ABOUT HINDUS — A two-week Summer course entitled Christian Witness in the Hindu World will be held at Fuller Theological Seminary, 135 North Oakland, Pasadena, California, from June 24 to July 5, 2002. This course provides an overview of 1) the Hindu World, 2) Hinduism¹s globalization, 3) its relationship to Christianity in the Indian Sub- continent, 4) Christian evangelization attempts in the past, 5) various contextual questions arising, and 6) proposals for finding a new way forward. See the Fuller website for full details: http://www.fuller.edu . It is possible to register on-line. Any questions, please contact Christine Cervantes at the Fuller School of World Mission: <swm-acadprogdiratdeptdotfullerdotedu> </swm-acadprogdiratdeptdotfullerdotedu>

  4. BRAND NEW DONOR TACKING PROGRAM FROM PEOPLE RAISING — If your organization is like ours, one of the most common problems you face is training new staff people how to find ministry partners, then equipping them with tools that can help them succeed. Now you can reduce the time it takes to raise support as you use the People Raising Tracking Program. In one program are 5 reports. You can prioritize your prospects and donors, estimate donor capacity, develop a weekly strategic plan, measure your fundraising time and effort, track dollars raised, and follow your donors giving patterns. It is available at a special introductory price of only $9.99 http://www.peopleraising.com/tools.cfm#tracking or e-mail <billatpeopleraisingdotcom> . </billatpeopleraisingdotcom>

  5. MISSIONS TRAINING + FRENCH LANGUAGE LEARNING — Come experience French language learning and culture during a bilingual 5-month Discipleship Training School in Quebec. The three months of practical teaching (including modules on Relief & Development, Missions, Evangelism & Reconciliation) prepare you for two months of creative outreach in a foreign culture. You receive 20 credits from University of the Nations transferable to many other institutions. The school begins September 29. The cost is $2,200 U.S. plus travel expenses. For more information contact Jacques at YWAM Dunham <jemdunhamatendirectdotqcdotca> or check it out at: http://dunham.jemquebec.ca . </jemdunhamatendirectdotqcdotca>

  6. EASY ENGLISH ROLLS COMMENTARY ON LUKE THROUGH CHECKING — Hilda Bright’s commentary and text for Luke are often downloaded. So too, are her similar works on Mark, Titus, Jude & 2 Peter. But LUKE joins her Philippians in finishing Advanced Checking. Level B EasyEnglish has a lexicon of 2,800 words. It is for pastors and Bible Study leaders, who do not have English as their mother-tongue. Download Luke and over 50 other commentaries and translators helps from Wycliffe Associates (UK) at http://www.easyenglish.info . This service is free of charge. And so is supplying our materials by email or on CDs. More information from <martinateasyenglishdotinfo>. </martinateasyenglishdotinfo>

  7. GET INVOLVED AT KOREAN LANGUAGE CAMPS — Mission to Unreached Peoples is looking for servant hearts to lead Korean Language Camps. Participants must be strong in their walk with the Lord so they can be good witnesses to students. Students and teachers will have opportunities to develop relationships outside of class time. Housing and food will be provided by the school. They’d love to find Koreans who speak English, but they’ll take *anyone*. If you have a heart to see the lost won in Mongolia for Jesus, don’t wait! Inquire now at Mission to Unreached Peoples! Contact Jeff at 1-888-847-6950 or (206) 781-3151 or check us out at http://www.mup.org. Our email address is <mupinfoatmupdotorg> </mupinfoatmupdotorg>

  1. PIONEER CHURCH PLANTING BOOK SCORES BIG — Getting started as a church planter? Want to gain more insight in your existing church planting efforts? Trent and Vivian Rowland are seven years into leading a church planting team in Asia. In this handbook they articulate their experiences to help guide and inspire teams. Some items covered include: Basic requirements and practices of a team leader, screening and assessing candidates, preparing new team members, research, networking and strategies, articulating ministry philosophy, setting goals for initial years, and implications for mobilizing new workers. I’ve got to tell you, as I sat down and started paging through my review copy, I began seeing all *kinds* of extra training possibilities for the mission with which I personally work. I’m convinced that we will expand and *improve* our church-planter training program as a result of the changes we incorporate from the Rowlands’ work in this book. I’m thankful to them … and to Caleb Project… for unselfishly making these many tools available to our entire global family. This is a new release (Dec. 2001) and it’s available for $19 for a limited time only at http://www.calebproject.org/books.htm . My encouragement: Get it. You’ll be glad you did. (And in case you’re wondering… there’s no commission coming my way. :-) My only hopeful outcome is that we all do this job more effectively. I’m persuaded that if we followed this book, it would happen.)

  2. KC’S TRAVELS: CELEBRATE! — Here’s a new video adventure for kids 5- 11 years of age. KC, a talking suitcase, is not your average talking suitcase. He’s a seam-stretching, adventure-seeking, live-by-the-seat- of-his rollers world traveler. In this video, he visits the Quechua people of Peru with this digital friend Lynnk. For $10.95 you can jump on board. Order it from Wycliffe Bible Translators at <patty_perkinsatwycliffedotorg> or <richard_bossatwycliffedotorg>, or call toll free 1-800-992-5433, ext. 3778 (407-852-3600 locally) for ordering information. </richard_bossatwycliffedotorg></patty_perkinsatwycliffedotorg>

  3. GET THE LOWDOWN ON DRAMA — DramaShare Christian Drama Resources has released their new manual, “3C – Cross-Cultural Creativity”, the use of non-verbal drama in missions and outreach, (internationally and locally). This comprehensive program teaches the “how-to’s” of ministering through drama, and also teaches how to pass on your skills to others in the mission field church or group, (a “teaching them to fish” philosophy). Those in the program receive an annual membership in DramaShare, giving them full and free access to over 600 scripts, many of which are non-verbal drama, written for this program. For full details, click on over to http://www.dramashare.org/3c.html or write <contactusatdramasharedotorg> In North America phone toll-free 1-800-DO-DRAMA (363-7262) or Fax (Canada) 306-653-0653. And as the authors say, “May God bless your ministry, dramatically!” </contactusatdramasharedotorg>

  4. FROM AKEBU TO ZAPOTEC… A BOOK OF BIBLELESS PEOPLES — Here’s a great book by June Hathersmith, complete with sound affects on CD, taking you to 26 different peoples without God’s word. Get it for $9.95 (the book and CD combined). To order, or for more information, contact Wycliffe Bible Translators at <patty_perkinsatwycliffedotorg> or <richard_bossatwycliffedotorg>, or call toll free 1-800-992-5433, ext. 3778 (407-852-3600 locally). </richard_bossatwycliffedotorg></patty_perkinsatwycliffedotorg>

Crown is also a full member of Council of Christian Colleges and Universities (C.C.C.U.). Crown has been providing missionary training since 1916. The first course for this degree program begins August 18, 2002.

  6. CUTTING EDGE MISSIONS EDUCATION/TRAINING — You have about three weeks left to register for the “Issues in Missions for the 21st Century” course taught in the graduate extension program of Columbia Biblical Seminary June 10-14. Dr. Michael Pocock will be on the campus of Toccoa Falls College (90 minutes northeast of Atlanta, GA) for those dates to lead this examination of the major issues that will directly impact how we do missions for decades to come. To register for credit or to audit the course write <gradadmissionsattfcdotedu>. You are welcome to examine the course syllabus online at: http://www.toccoafalls.edu/graduate/two_year_projected_schedule.htm </gradadmissionsattfcdotedu>

  7. LEARN HOW TO HELP THE POOR — Have you felt the need for training on how to help the poor? Dr. Russell Mask of the Chalmers Center for Economic Development will begin a 6-week module on Christian Microenterprise Development in the Two-Thirds World in August. This course is taught via e-mail. Application deadline is June 14, 2002. For details see the Chalmers Center’s website: http://www.Chalmers.org or email <chalmersatcovenantdotedu> or call 706-419-1805 in the USA or via Net2phone. </chalmersatcovenantdotedu>

  8. SHORT TERM SUPPORT MANUAL FROM PEOPLE RAISING — Now there is fundraising help for those going on short term/summer missions trips through a specially designed “People Raising” support manual by William Dillon, author of “People Raising: A Practical Guide To Raising Support.” This manual captures the nuts and bolts of People Raising and puts it in a way to be the most help to short termers. It is concise and offers 7 key steps that will walk anyone quickly through the support raising process. It is designed to reduce the fears many people have as well as dramatically reduce the time needed to raise the funds. To order multiple copies for your ministry go to http://www.peopleraising.com/tools.cfm#stm or e-mail <billatpeopleraisingdotcom>. </billatpeopleraisingdotcom>

  9. BACK PAGE: APOLOGIES FOR “HOW DO YOU KNOW IF YOU’RE ADAPTING” — My apologies to those who were offended by our incorporation of the ways that a missionary can know if they’re truly adapting to missionary life in last issue’s “Back Page” editorial. Some felt that by saying that my 12-year-old “came up” with the items, I was implying that he composed them himself. I was careful not to actually say that… because he had indeed actually gleaned them from a site he often reads on the web. But as far as I recalled, it was the first time I had seen them myself. And the truth is, after he showed them to me, I did a search at Google.com, prior to including them, in hopes of finding the original source. I only found about 20 copies on the web, and in my cursory search, I saw no one purporting to be the original author. Still, I should have made it clear that he “came up with them” by finding them on a website. Either way, today I rec’d a note from “Chris” pointing me to the page, http://members.kconline.com/kerr/mk.htm) which highlights Andrew and Deborah Kerr’s book, “You Know You’re an MK When…” (Thanks Chris!) Yikes! I had no idea there was even a book about it! As I’ve said before, I’ll try harder to make sure we search for primary sources on everything… and may I just continue to ask your indulgence to let us know when we miss something. Whenever we do, you also have my honest word that we’ll print this kind of apology in the very next edition. I’ll also be more careful not to fall into the trap of saying something that isn’t original… or even allowing you to draw that conclusion — then not telling you that it isn’t original. The burden for the truth is of primary importance in each of our Christian lives. Honestly, I have no false visions of grandeur about convincing you that my kids are child prodigies (although I confess that, at times, I do appreciate their humor a lot :-). Bottom line… again… my apologies if I was at all out of line and I’ll try to do better in the future. Thanks.

1) SO WHAT’S UP WITH JOSHUA PROJECT II? — Remember AD2000’s thrust to list the world’s least reached peoples, the Joshua Project 2000 list of unreached peoples? Remember how the JP2000 list spun out into its own under the banner of “Joshua Project II”? Well recently, their lease ran out, so to speak, and their future was, for a while, a bit uncertain. But thanks goes to World Help for adopting the people with the adoption list! World Help, an international ministry based in Forest, Virginia, has taken Joshua Project II into its fold. Joshua Project II is a continuation and expansion of the original Joshua Project initiative created by the AD2000 & Beyond Movement. It is an effort to “highlight least-reached peoples through information sharing and networking.” World Help is actively involved in facilitating church-planting movements, leadership training and Bible distribution among the least-reached peoples. Three cheers for their vision, insight, and courage to take risks for the sake of the lost! World Help and Joshua Project II will soon release a comprehensive unreached / least-reached ethno-cultural list of all people groups, regardless of size. This list, planned for release in the spring of 2002, will help provide a Great Commission blueprint or roadmap, revealing the extent of the unfinished task of world evangelism.

This site contains missions resources, research related material, contact information, internship opportunity information, and a photo gallery of portraits of unreached people groups (photos are not to be used without permission). The group is currently in the process of choosing a publisher for its catalog of artistic photographs of tribal groups. Reports will be published on the site as the network of investigators compiles research information regarding specific unreached people groups. 13) THE BACK PAGE: DEFINING LEADERSHIP

Our organization recently held its 3rd summit of team leaders and, as always, I learn more from this growing group of top-notch workers than I ever can possibly give back. Since our time together, I’ve been mulling over in my mind how to define leadership. I started out thinking about it in terms of activity. I figured leaders should be people who have somehow learned how to get things done… so maybe others rally around them because, well, these would-be teammates see the action and they want to be a part of it. Not only is it more *fun* to be a part of the action, but also it just feels more productive… more effective… more fruitful.

But then I started realizing that some great leaders didn’t really *do* things. They *are*. Gandhi is an example. He stood up for a set of *values*… so people ended up standing up for *him*. They were attracted by his ideas, rather than his actions. Sure he took steps that were visible… tangible… but in the end, it was more a matter of his *principles* than his *tasks*.

As my thinking continued to evolve, I moved on to a phase of focusing on great leaders and their *relationships*. In a way, that’s part of what defined success for Jesus. After all, he never wrote a book (directly) nor did he record any motivational tapes. If his teachings were going to last, it would be because of the notes made by those who followed him. And that’s exactly what happened. The Bible is *full* of eye witness testimony by those who loved him most. More than anything else, it seems, Jesus majored in spending time with *people* … his “teammates” (the disciples), needy folks, and even those who didn’t seem to *think* that they needed him.

So now I’ve come full circle. I’m beginning to conclude that great leaders maybe have all *three* facets. They learn how to get things done… they stand for noble principles… and they invest time in *people*. Part of the magic is… great leaders come to believe that those people are not “projects” but someone to love.

So… I think I’m starting to get it. And I’m further thinking that if we want to train our new disciples to be great leaders in their local churches, we’ve got to model it for them. We’ve got to churn out the work, retain those guiding principles, and love people. I’m starting to believe that only *then* will we really make great leaders.

What do you think? Got an opinion? Let me know at <dlucasatteamexpansiondotorg>.</dlucasatteamexpansiondotorg>

Thanks and may 2002 be a blessed one for you, your team, your family, and your ministry!

10) THE BACK PAGE: EMERGENCY RESPONSE PLANS — Is your organization like ours? We see press releases about how important it is to do emergency response planning… so then we draw something up… but then years pass without its use… and everything gets out of date. If the events of Sept. 11th have taught us anything, they’ve taught us to be prepared for disasters beyond our imagination. No one in the FAA or FBI imagined the evil that could be carried out against the civilized world… until they saw it unfolding on their own office televisions. I guess… it’s time we dusted off those emergency response procedure instruction manuals again, eh? For us in Team Expansion, we’re going back to basics with simple stuff. We’ve had written instructions for all our teams now for 15 years… but few have actually implemented them. We don’t have fingerprint cards… or even data cards completed on every worker yet. But we’re about to re-start with new energy. My hunch is… there are many others feeling the same burden these days. May God grant us all mercy as we cautiously proceed forward.

YAHOO TO OFFER PORNOGRAPHIC MATERIALS – THEN MAYBE NOT

WebWatch If you’re a regular participant in a YahooGroup (formerly eGroups) then maybe you’ve caught wind of the rumor that the service’s management recently decided to offer pornographic materials in a larger, more visible “company-sponsored” way. (To see the original release, have a look at: http://foxnews.com/story/0,2933,5537,00.html ) However, after receiving numerous complaints from customers after revelations that the company had already been peddling x-rated materials anyway, Yahoo announced about a week later that it will no longer be selling pornographic videos period. “We consistently strive to act responsibly and constantly evaluate our policies based on what our users tell us,” said Yahoo president and chief operating officer Jeff Mallet. He added that the company will no longer sell banner ads to the pornography industry. (Source: CNSNews.com — thanks for the tip, Kirk!) Want an alternative to the whole situation? Try out StrategicNetwork.org’s new email conferencing software at: www.strategicnetwork.org It’s free . . . and becoming more powerful all the time. And what’s more, it’s run by Christians for global Christian purposes. So you know the management… (or at least we here at Brigada Today do!). Will Brigada Today switch over? Well… it’s always a possibility… but for now, we’re thrilled that YahooGroups took a stand. So… for the time being, we intend to ride the wave of good will following a decision for the good!

not symbolPLEASE DON’T SUBSCRIBE US TO YOUR LIST — It’s always better to ask before manually force-adding anyone to your list-serve or mailing list. Recently, tons of well-meaning people have been subscribing Doug to their lists. Since he often travels overseas, he doesn’t join many of those, for obvious reasons (like being charged big-time for overseas access). So as a general rule, please don’t bulk-mail us! See the note above if you’d like to submit items for Brigada Today. Thanks for understanding. Bottom line: We will never create Brigada Today items from bulk mail. Bulk mail gets deleted immediately — sorry. Nothing personal. We suggest you apply the same standard to everyone. Ask first!

OPCWARNING ABOUT FORWARDING EMAILS — Please, before forwarding any kind of request (even if it says “please send this to all your friends”), please check to make sure it has a VERIFIABLE ORIGIN, a VERIFIABLE PURPOSE, and a VERIFIABLE CLOSURE (OPC). By following this simple approach, many “email viruses” could be nipped in the bud… at least in the Brigada family. More information about the full Brigada OPC protocol is available. Thank you.
