“The Journey Deepens” is a weekend retreat to help aspiring missionaries explore what it is like to be a missionary, discover whether a missionary or sender role is God’s fit, and connect with mission agencies. This is for college students, young adults, mid-lifers, baby boomers – anyone willing to explore becoming a missionary. Each retreat of about 25 participants and seven missionary coaches from multiple agencies is highly relational with extended worship, small group discussions, personal reflection and much prayer. Barnabas International and ELIM Retreat Ministries will offer 8 renewal retreats for missionaries in 2014. These Retreats are held in gorgeous natural environments in the States, a good addition to a “home assignment.” These Retreats are not “busy,” but full of opportunities for replenishment and renewal. Wellspring is a safe, supportive, peaceful place to rest, renew, share your journey in a small group and individually with a counselor, and re-connect with God. A children’s program is also offered. On the Cumberland Plateau near Crossville, Tennessee, EdenRidge provides a place 10 minutes off I-40 for missionaries and their families to truly rest while on furlough. The cabins, built in 2012 and 2013, each include beds for four, a fully-outfitted kitchen, a spacious living room and a washer and dryer. A bunkhouse with eight beds is also available on the property to accommodate larger parties.
An endowment fund covers missionaries’ rates, making the cabins free for up to two weeks a year.

They’ve entitled it, “Transitioning to Life in America.” It’s a special retreat sponsored by Missionary Resources. Think of it as a Re-Entry Retreat for MK’s and TCK’s. The dates are August 6-15, 2012. Designed for high school grads and college students transitioning to the US, it’ll give you a chance to enjoy other MKs/TCKs as you meet together to explore such topics as Your Identity in Christ, American Culture, Healthy Relationships, College life, Unresolved Grief and Loss, Money Matters, Guy/Girl Issues, Finding a Home Church, Handling Negative Emotions, and Transition. They also make use of Myers-Briggs Type Indicators (personality assessment). Activities include a high ropes course, zip line, paintball, swimming and other outdoor sports activities. Intermingled between sessions and activities are small group times where each participant is able to tell his or her story in a safe, understanding environment.
