Mission Frontiers: “Movements Make All the Difference”

The new November/December edition of Mission Frontiers just rolled out hot off the presses. The theme of the issue is, “Movements Make all the Difference in the World.” It features articles on church planting movements (otherwise known as CPM, or disciple making movements, or DMM). Jerry Trousdale did much of the spadework in recruiting people to participate in this edition. (We know that because he was gracious enough to ask us, on behalf of the journal and its editor (Rick Wood), to contribute — and somehow they chose to feature our article as the lead-off piece. See our article here…

We had a little trouble registering, myself. Seemed like the blanks didn’t format properly for me on the form when I was signing up. But I assume that’s just a momentary blip. Either way, for more information, contact

7) VSee Adds Ipad App

We first learned about VSee from MAF, the airplane and technology folks. Now, VSee has released a new version of its app for iPad. This update supports receiving shared screens and annotations from PCs during group video calls. You can use group chat during video calls, view auxiliary camera feeds, and invite contacts from your iPad address book. It’s reportedly the first video chat app that’s FDA-registered and HIPAA compliant making it great for telehealth. And, in addition to being simple and secure, it’s absolutely free.

In fact, now, with the $49/month version, you get unlimited screen share for you and for your meeting participants. This is starting to look like competition even for GoToWebinar.

1) Global Prayercast Premiers Wednesday Night, Apr. 17th

As far as we can tell, it’s the first time anyone will have ever attempted it. Well over 50 “live” remote sites, all praying simultaneously around the save theme (finishing the task of the Great Commission), beamed into one video production studio in the same hour, then rolled out as a seamless concert of prayer. If Zinzendorf had been able to tweet, this is what he would have organized. Take it all in at 8:30pm EDT (that’s 12:30am, Apr. 18th, Coordinated Universal Time). The entire event will last exactly one hour as each of the remote sites has one single minute to pray “live” on the broadcast. It’s free and there’s no soliciting allowed. And it’s all prayer. Live. Together. Learn more at the site…

http://www.globalprayercast.com

There’s a countdown clock to the event there. You can also tweet “in place,” and also see a cool map that will provide approximate locations of those taking part in the Prayercast. (The locations are approximate in consideration of our participants in sensitive lands.) Also, follow the event on Facebook at…

http://www.facebook.com/globalprayercast

You can also tweet using #globalprayercast during the event, and the tweets will load not only in the webpage itself (even in the days and hours running up to the event), but also in the video stream DURING the event. (For example, tweet your own prayers to join with the groups praying in the broadcast stream.) Get your home bible study, life group, agency, or church involved. If you feel the approach is effective, please replicate it among your spheres of influence again and again. May God bless our concert of prayer together planet-wide. Here’s a one-minute video explaining the goals:

1) Join a Real-time Planet-wide Gathering: The Global PrayerCast

DSCN1099-webresNow you can join a planet-wide get-together real-time. On April 17th, 8:30pm EDT (7:30pm CDT, 12:30am UCT on Apr. 18th), the Unleashed for the Unreached initiative (the same group that is staging the “Wall of Unreached Peoples” as a traveling exhibit around the country) is coordinating a “live” prayer event in conjunction with other world Christians, no matter where they live on the planet. (Will there be dozens?… or scores? or hundreds? Or will there be thousands?) Legacy Christian Church (Overland Park, KS, USA) has graciously agreed to stream the event “live” to the entire planet, with live footage from 58 simul-sync’d remote prayer sites throughout the world. One of the sites will be located on the border of Lebanon. A network of over 1000 Syrians will be participating ‘live,’ praying not only for Syria, but for each of the other sites and for unreached peoples worldwide. Also confirmed, a worker in the mountains of Morocco. Another in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea. There are mega-churches and churches of 20 people, all sizes, all shapes, all cultures. To learn more, visit…

or find the page on Facebook at…

http://www.facebook.com/globalprayercast

There’s now a one-minute promo video to show at your church or group.

You’re invited! Take part in this event so you’ll know how to replicate it for your agency, church, denomination, or movement. (We’re not concerned about others duplicating the event. We’re PRAYING they will!) If all goes well, the PrayerCast concept will open a global convention at the Kansas City Convention Center in November (the International Conference on Missions). This is like a proof of concept and a “dress rehearsal,” all at the same time. The technology is there. We just need to utilize it to make it happen. “Lord, please make us one so that the world may be won!”
