DALLAS/FORT WORTH MOBILIZERS CONFERENCE OFF AND RUNNING
Thanks to
John Anderson, missions-minded believers from the Dallas/Fort Worth area
are going to find it a lot easier to talk to one another about missions
news and opportunities these days. John wants to experiment with a
Brigada conference aimed at helping aid missions mobilization on a local
scale, with a view of making a bigger impact globally. The conference
will allow for announcements and resource-sharing, especially related to
ACMC and AIMS conference announcements, descriptions, etc.,
College/School missions conferences, "Concerts of Prayer" locations &
schedules, Church missions conferences, Church missions seminars, ISI
opportunities and activities at local secular universities, Local people
group outreach (Kurds, Bosnians, Russians Jews, etc.), Perspectives
schedules, Church short term projects in need of people, supplies,
prayer, etc., Amateur Radio Clubs and Resources in the area, E-Mail
resources in the area, etc. D/FW area participants can join by sending
email to
hub@xc.org with the only line of the message being:
subscribe brigada-projects-dfwmobilizers
This DFW conference is already launched! You may join at any time!
Godspeed John!

BRIGADA PARTICIPANT WELCOMES PEOPLE PROFILES
Have you tried to
retrieve any of the people group profiles on Brigada. Tom did: "That
profile on the people group from Morocco was great! If [future ones]...
are of that quality, I'd be delighted
. Thanks for your faithfulness.
This network is a real blessing through which we can bless the nations.
God's grace be richly upon you all." Why not try retrieving the Morocco
profile that Tom mentioned today!? Just send email to
hub@xc.org with
the only line in the text being:
get brigada peoples-morocco-ishilhayn
The profile will come back into your email box within 4-5 minutes. Last
night, a college president (with too much mail to read each day!) asked
if there was any way to 'index' all the Brigada information. Great
question. As far as files go ("gets"), we're trying to use file names
that, for the most part, explain the purpose/application for a file.
But any input would be greatly appreciated. Many online users say that
the WorldWide Web will be much easier to navigate, since it will require
only a double-click of the mouse to go from one area to the next, or
from one map or document to the next. That's why we're trying to
experiment with WorldWide Web page development now. When the WWW
becomes accessible to most email users (e.g., when AOL and Cserve open
the door), we'd like to be able to give you an address where that
material you've been searching for will be indexed!

COMING SOON - LIST OF LEAST EVANGELIZED PEOPLE GROUPS ISN'T "VAPORWARE"!
We've seen it! Thanks to Ron Rowland and a top flight
team of co-workers, the long-awaited list of "Least Evangelized Peoples"
is rapidly becoming reality! This past week, Ron allowed Brigada to
examine the list and... Wow! ... someone's done a lot of work! The
rough group of 4893 is now being boiled down into a priority list of
2400 or so "key" groups. Originating mainly from previous lists
submitted by Patrick Johnstone, John Gilbert (Southern Baptist - Foreign
Mission
Board), and Kaleb Jansen (Adopt-A-People-Clearinghouse) for AD2000 and
the Unreached Peoples Track, the list will report the Country Name,
Language name, ROPAL Code, People Name, Population in country, R-Code
(Barrett race code supplied by PJ) and Affinity bloc/Language
Family. ... The world is being divided into "Affinity Blocs", using
language family relationships, and "Gateway Peoples" are being listed,
i.e. peoples that it will be key to enter first. Once these lists are
determined, they will be central to discussions at GCOWE in the
Unreached Peoples Track. In addition, some are recommending that they
be used as the basis for discussion by a series of "Affinity Group"
regional networks, after GCOWE. Please join us in praying that all this
research time can be allotted and that the researchers could complete
their respective challenges. Pray with us that God would give us wisdom
as to how to make the information available, as it is released. Ask Him
to guide us as to what forms & media might best serve to alert our ranks
as to the regions and peoples that still remain untouched by His
message.

PRAY FOR MEETING TODAY (FRIDAY) AT ADOPT-A-PEOPLE CLEARINGHOUSE
Please ask God to bless the brainstorming session in Colorado Springs
today. Representatives from Brigada, Global Mapping, CrossConnect and
Adopt-a-People Clearinghouse will be praying and brainstorming about how
to lift up worldwide needs most effectively, especially with reference
to drawing attention to the least evangelized unreached people groups
and cities. Please ask God to speak clearly to the participants.
Scheduled to attend are Bill Dickson (GMI), Terry Riley (AAPC), Bob
Binkley (AAPC), Marv Bowers (AAPC), Pete Holzmann (CrossConnect), and
Eric Derry (Brigada).

THIS WEEK'S FEATURED CONFERENCE - THE GPD "ALARM CLOCK"
At one time
or another, probably all of us have subscribed to the Global Prayer Digest.
What a great tool to alert us to worldwide prayer needs! But
over the past few weeks, since the US Center has launched the online
'GPD', I've done more regular praying than I ever did when I was
getting the booklet in written form. Seemed like when I traveled, or
when I got busy, the booklet sometimes found its way onto a shelf
somewhere, and little be little faded from my list of 'things to do'
during devotional times. But now, the 'GPD' comes like an alarm clock,
every day, into my email in-basket. And even if I have several messages
to which I need to reply, I at least scan the content, then utter a
quick prayer on behalf of the particular nation/people highlighted that
day. Try it yourself! You just might be surprised! Well over 40
people are now subscribed. Not bad for a month-old project!

TOOL OF THE WEEK - NEED TO SEND A SPREADSHEET BY EMAIL? GET UUENCODE
Ever have to send a spreadsheet or an executable by email and
couldn't figure out how to convert that binary code to ascii text? Now,
you can get uuEncode from Brigada and do it anytime you want. Just send
email to
hub@xc.org with the only line of your message being...
get brigada uuexe521.bat
This is a 52K batch file that is self-extracting when executed. Full
instructions are included. Both sender and receiver will need these
files, which translate the binary code into ascii characters for
emailing, then turn them back into your original binary form (Winword
document, Excel spreadsheet, executable, etc.) upon arrival.
