WHAT ARE THE ODDS!??? GROWTH BY 65 PARTICIPANTS AGAIN THIS WEEK!

That's right! Brigada participants jumped again this week by exactly the
same amount as last week, 65 new users for a grand total of 1,818
co-laborers for the harvest! Welcome new members! We're left with 7 more
weeks before our 1-year anniversary, March 15. Thanks for whatever you're
doing to pass the word along!

ANNOUNCING THE PLACE TO GET ANNOUNCEMENTS
Want to stay in touch with
AD2000 & Beyond's Joshua Project 2000??? Tune in! Send a note to
hub@xc.org with only the line
subscribe ad2-jp2-announce
in the body text of the message and you'll receive occasional updates on
team formation, training, and progress. News is sent out only when there's
worthwhile news to share. This conference was opened directly by the AD2000
International Office and is the "official" place to stay in touch! So set
those radio dials and listen in! See what the Lord is about to do around
the globe!

HAVING TROUBLE GETTING STARTED WITH RESEARCH ON YOUR PEOPLE GROUP???
Help is on the way! At AD2000 & Beyond's request this past week, a new
"helper" page for the People Group Consultant was born. Dubbed the
"Research Assistant", it can be accessed from either the Brigada "Least
Reached Peoples" page or from the PGC itself (though as of this hour, the
PGC page had not been fully updated -- for now, enter via Brigada by setting
your browser to:
http://www.xc.org/brigada/brigada.html or go directly to
the PGC RA by pointing to:
http://www.xc.org/brigada/pgcra/
What will the PGCRA do? It'll serve as a kind of collection point for new
URLs on least evangelized peoples. If you find an interesting/helpful page,
switch over to the RA and click on "tell us" and the URL will simultaneously
be sent to the Bethany Prayer Center (which is compiling Prayer Profiles for
the JP2000 thrust) and the PGCRA too. Shortly thereafter, your new site
will be available for all in a people-indexed format. There is also
introductory information to other searching tools beyond the worldwide web,
e.g., archie, Veronica, telnet, and more, along with sites for each! So the
People Group Consultant now has a Research Assistant! Check it out!
By the way, for those without web access, just send e-mail to
hub@xc.org
with only the following 2 lines in the text of the message:
subscribe ad2-jp2-announce
get ad2-jp2-announce research-assistant
This pair of commands will
- subscribe you to an e-mail message list for
announcements relevant to Joshua Project 2000 teams
- signal the hub
that you'd like to receive a simple e-mail copy of the most pertinent and
up-to-date online research tools. This message about research tools will
arrive back in your in-box within 5-10 minutes, depending on the speed of
your e-mail service. This is only the first release... but we'll try to
keep it fairly current in sync with the web page so you'll always have the
same access.
Thanks to Bethany for providing the initial start-up info. for this page,
for AD2000 & Beyond for asking for its creation, and for Bob Mayhew for
helping with the web publishing!

WANNA BE AN ADVOCATE??? GO TO INDIA!
That's right. In just two
weeks, the second People Group Advocate school
(NRM) will be held in Pune,
India. If your church or you has adopted a people group in South Asia then
you really should come to this school. They'll take you to University
libraries to research your group, analyze the felt needs of your group, make
you aware of worldwide Christian resources available to reach your group,
and help you come up with 100 strategies to reach your group. (Wow.
That's
a lot!) Powerful. Interested? Address a letter to
hub@xc.org with just the
message

POLISH OFF THE 10/40 WINDOW
That's "Polish" not "polish".
It's a
10/40 Window prayer guide available in the language of POLISH. AIMS -
Germany recently translated the prayer leaflet about the 7 major unreached
people groups in the 10/40 window (Arab, Turcic, Iranian, Tibetan, Sahel,
N.Indian, Malay) into Polish. It is available (free of charge - in print
only - sorry for that) from AIMS-Germany. E-mail:
100711.2622@Compuserve.Com . Please do not forget to mention your postal
address. Thanks to Kerstin Hack
100711.2622@compuserve.com for making this
available!!!

A BIT TOO MUCH KEYING GOING ON
Did you notice the extra "L" at the end
of the URL for AIMS and Regent University in the
Jan. 12th Brigada Today??? John Anderson did! The proper URL should be:
http://www.regent.edu/acad/schdiv/div-con.html
Thanks to eagle-eye John!

NOW HERE'S A SPOT WHERE YOU CAN MAKE AN IMPACT
Looking for a
short-term experience with long-term impact? Consider EXPLORE '96, Caleb
Project's summer missionary research team ministry. This is an opportunity
to be personally involved on the front end of advancing God's kingdom among
an unreached people group. This is truly a "different kind of short-term!"
It's June 4 - August 7, 1996 (9 weeks: 10 days training, 40 days overseas,
15 days debrief/media production), in Central Asia, Indonesia. The teams
will seek to discover new insights and opportunities for spiritually
penetrating these cultures with the gospel. Regular activities will include
befriending local people and interviewing them in relational settings and
writing reports (ethnography), prayer walking, producing media resources
based on information gained, etc. By God's grace, the long-term fruit of
this ministry will be the MOBILIZATION of new missionaries, new
intercessors and new senders focused on these peoples to the glory of God.

GERMANS MAKE A DIFFERENCE ON THE NET
According to Dick Chase,
76022.1722@compuserve.com , you German emailers take your influence
seriously! You apparently protested Compuserve's open access to pornography
on the net and now they've done something about it! Thanks for your impact.
And thanks to Ron Kernahan
100612.1353@compuserve.com for passing along
the word! Ron suggests sending a brief "Thanks for your stand against
pornography" letter to Compuserve's CEO at Bob Massey,
70003.1371@compuserve.com . I
suppose this would have special
significance if you're a CServer and can send it to simply 70003,1371. Way
to go Germany!

KINGDOM VENTURES MAKES IT EASIER FOR YOU TO FIND KINGDOM WORKERS
Have
you heard about Kingdom Ventures' new database to find people "over there"?
Called "OPNET", it includes over 1,000 operations overseas. The initial
software package can be purchased for $5, and is updated quarterly. Updates
may be purchased when the user likes, for $20 each (25% discount for those
who return their work-among survey). The database includes a listing of
mission organizations and the countries they are working in. The software is
read-only; data may neither be edited nor altered. However, subscribers to
the updates may post advertisements which appear in the main menu, and which
all readers will view, for $5/advertisement. They sent us a copy of Opnet
here and it has lots of potential. It is a DOS interface -- so to Windows
users it will probably not look very intuitive. But if you have to look
someone up and you're willing to work at it, it might be just the thing.
And you certainly can't gripe about the initial price.
For more
information, contact Kingdom Ventures, 5273-E Kilrush Court, Richmond, Va.
23228. For a sample disk, send $5 to the address. Email
JDavidLong@AOL.COM for more information.

BOMB SCARE
One reader wrote this past week to protest the reference
to an email bomb in the closing lines of last week's Brigada Today. He
was afraid someone might think we were really capable of sending a bomb
through an electronic mail message. In case you've been wondering, that was
a joke, son. Technology just hasn't quite advanced that far yet... although
I imagine it'll be the subject of the next late-night sci-fi flick on one of
those high-numbered UHF channels.

HAVE CAMERA, WILL TRAVEL
Now here's a guy worth his weight in gold...
Kodak Gold, that is. Check it out. Mike Scott
Mogulracer@aol.com is
willing to accompany any JP2000 team to the field to do research/pre-search
on a least evangelized people. He'll be the team photographer and
apparently brings home quite the album!!! He does appreciate the team
chipping in on his expenses, but even that is negotiable, we're told.
Thanks to Mary Ann Stone (of the AD2000 & Beyond Office) and Steve Moore (of
Kingdom Building Ministries) for the tip!!! Mike, grab your flash unit and
get ready to head for the plane! Judging from his email address, he'll be
especially helpful in colder climates.
