POP-UP PRAYER REQUEST
[Thanks to Candido P. Miranda and all the others
for the positive feedback on last week's "Pop-up Prayer Request." We
include another request this week in response to participants' suggestions.]
Just think of what a powerful force of global prayer warriors we become this
morning as 2032 of us join hands in the following prayer: "Father, we love
you, we worship and adore you. Glorify your name in all the earth. Today
we seek the fulfillment of something we know you desire. We want the
nations to be glad. We want people everywhere to lift up pure hearts to you
and to be joy-filled by having received your grace. Lord, you told your
followers to "make disciples of all nations" and you said you would be
"with" them always. We seek that "withness" this morning and we give
ourselves wholly over to your eternal plan of redemption for the nations.
We need that "withness," because without it, we clearly cannot imagine
completing such an awesome responsibility with only earthly strength. We
need your Spirit. We need your wisdom. We need your strength. Please
empower us -- so that you may in turn be glorified by all the peoples of
the earth. May all the peoples praise you, oh God!"

AD2000 & BEYOND LAUNCHES NEW WEB SITE
You knew it would come. And it
did. AD2000 & Beyond has launched a brand new thrust on the worldwide web.
And thanks to their Media Coordinator, you probably heard it
first here on Brigada! (Thanks Dave!) Billed as "a toolbox for seeing a
church for every people and the gospel for every person," the site can be
found at... you guessed it...
http://www.ad2000.org.
Nice address.
Dave told Brigada Today, "In May '95 a great group of volunteers started
our GCOWE '95 page. On Feb.20 1996 we added to that the following sections:
- Current news about the movement, with updates every week.
- Joshua
Project 2000 section, with access to the list of least evangelized peoples
and a sample prayer profile.
- AD2000 national initiatives info.
- Section on the 10/40 Window, including the graphics from the brochure (yours
to use for ministry purposes) and a listing of the 100 Gateway cities and
the text to two Praying through the Window books.
- Details about AD2000
conferences and mobilization events like GCOWE '97.
- AD2000 background
information with current list of networks, task forces and regional
leadership including some photos of staff.
Much more information will be
posted." He also added, "If there is something you would like to see added
to this Web site please make your suggestions to:
David@ad2000.org" We
suggest you add a link from your own home page today!

"PRAYING THROUGH THE WINDOW III" NEEDS YOUR HELP!
That's right! Though
October '97 might seem far away to you, for the Managing Editor of the
next Praying Through the Window book it's time to get started! And John
Hanna, who writes our regular weekly "Global Glimpse" column and works as
the People Group Advocacy specialist at Caleb Project, would love to have
your help. As Managing Editor for the
book, Praying Through the Window III -- the Least Evangelized Peoples of the World,
he needs your help.
You see, in October '97, the world's eyes will focus on prayer for 100 - 150
unreached people clusters covering the roughly 2,000 people groups selected
by AD 2000. Plans for this book include distribution in many languages with
at least 50,000 English copies. John recently told Brigada Today, "We are
seeking up-to-date and detailed information for an excellent 10/40 Window
prayer tool. Each page will have some basic information about the people
cluster, a map, photo, or graphic depicting the people group, and 4 to 6
prayer requests." Wow.
John's sharp, but how many slides can the guy have
tucked away in his den!??? I mean, let's lend the guy a 'hanna'
or
whatever.
"Anecdotes, snippets, short stories, and background information which will
help us communicate cultural and circumstantial information to stimulate
effective and fervent prayer is our greatest need," John added. John
provided us with a list of the
major clusters they're currently considering.
You can retrieve this list by sending email to
hub@xc.org with only this
line in the body of the message text:
get clusters
As the list is fine-tuned or updated, we'll try to keep it current
for your retrieving pleasure. Because John recognizes that the list is not
final nor complete. And he's open to your input. 'Course, he can't
guarantee your ideas or material will be reproduced in the book, but it
will be used to check and re-check the accuracy of what's written. So get
those cards and letters going, folks. Let's bug John with all our people
profiles, reports, prayer tools, newsletters, etc. In fact, he'd even be
glad to guard the sensitive stuff. "If you would like to send us information
which we should not reprint (because of security), PLEASE MARK THIS
INFORMATION CLEARLY, perhaps with asterisks (**) or a highlighter pen (by
snail mail)." Even on the non-confidential stuff, to protect identities,
John won't be including anyone's name with material he shares with
cooperating researchers -- unless you want him to, and then all you have
to do is ask and he'll make sure you're properly credited.
The time to start is now. "Send whatever information you can by April 1,
1996 or sooner." This guy is on the ball -- and he doesn't want to wait
until the 30th of Sept. '97, to start mailing out copies of the book! Stay
tuned to Brigada for updates on progress and the latest news on "Praying
Through the Window III."
John adds, "Later (in May) we will be looking for people to also check the
work before it goes to print. If you have suggestions, please let us know!
All information must be finalized by the end of May, 1996." Yikes.
Talk
about advanced preparation. This book stuff is no easy task. He's just got
60 days, gang.
How do you write John? That's the easy part! John Hanna,

PEOPLE GROUP CONSULTANT DEVELOPMENT TEAM MOVES FORWARD
This past week,
the People Group Consultant Development Team went into high gear in its
quest to improve and expand the capabilities of the PGC. In the process,
they've had to ask and seek answers to many tough questions, not only about
the PGC itself, but also about how the PGC fits into the bigger picture of
integrating the flow of missions information to key mobilizers around the
world. At this point, the PGC Dev. Team is asking for volunteers who have
expertise and willingness to help in two specific areas:
- HTML creation
- coding SQL
(Note: If you have to ask what these are, odds are,
you're probably not the one for the job.
)
Within the next few weeks,
once the new structure is in place, the team will also need people group
advocates, data entry volunteers, and a host of others. For now though,
volunteers with HTML and/or SQL under their belt are asked to join pgc-intro
by sending email to
hub@xc.org with only the following line in the body of
the message text:
subscribe pgc-intro
Instructions on how to proceed from there will then be included in the
resulting welcome message.

MISSION 2000 LAUNCHES
Pray for "Mission 2000 - Mobilizing for the
unreached" conference in Bispingen, Northern Germany...jointly organized by
AIMS Germany (Kerstin Hack) and YWAM, North Germany (Jan Schlegel). About
130 - 150 pastors and leaders of churches in Germany, the Czech republic,
Belarus and a few other countries will get together to learn how to mobilize
for Missions and how a church can be part of the great commission. According
to Kerstin, "In Europe there is still very little concern for the unreached
people groups of the World." Kerstin and other organizers are hoping
participants and believers around the world will pray for the start of a new
movement for the nations of the world, for unity, wisdom, and
finances/technical challenges for the conference itself. For more info.,
write Kerstin at
100711.2622@Compuserve.Com.
NOTE: She requests special
prayer for Andrew James Rickards, baby son of Diane and Pari Rickards (one
of the main speakers) who is undergoing heart surgery TODAY. Pari, there
are over 2000 of us backing you, Diane, and Andrew up with prayer and our
thoughts. Hang in there. We hope for the best for little Andrew.

THE KAZAKHS HAVE BECOME THE KAZAKS! [TAKE TWO]
Last week we
printed a correction from the previous week's Brigada Today and this week,
we're correcting the correction! "I'd better get with the program!" In
last week's Brigada Today, we pointed out that the Brigada-peoples-kazakh
conference has now transformed into brigada-peoples-kazak. (They've changed
their conference name to reflect an official decision on the part of the
Kazak people to drop the 'h' off the end of the name.) But then in the
"subscribe" instructions, we used the old "h" spelling. Old habits die
hard. So let's try this one more time. To join up, send email to
hub@xc.org with only this line in the text of the message:
subscribe brigada-peoples-kazakh
[just kidding.
Here's the real line.]
subscribe brigada-peoples-kazak
[you get the picture]
In the process, by the way, well over 150 people have joined that
conference. Wow. Marco Polo never had it so good. Imagine how long it
took him to send messages to 156 people in a far away land!

THIS WEEK'S GLOBAL GLIMPSE
There have been over 1,100 plans to
evangelize the world since Christ's Great Commission was given to the
Church. In the past 25 years 200 million people, 3.4% of the world's
population, were evangelized. By mid-1996, 19.3% (nearly 1 person out of 5)
will still be unevangelized. Unless current trends are reversed, the year
2000 will see a world one-third Christian, where 16% of its people have
never heard the name of Jesus.
| World Population (1996): | 5,804,121,000 |
| Christians (1996): | 1,955,229,000 |
| Unevangelized (1996): | 1,121,842,000 |

ENVISION '96 GETS A TECHNICAL COORDINATOR
If you've heard the new
Kenny Rogers album, you've heard his song-writing talents. If you've ever
caught the commercials, "Good times, Great taste at McDonalds," "Kentucky
Fried Chicken -- We do chicken right!" or "Nationwide is on your side...",
then you've heard his creative, and artistic imagination. And if you've
seen the Gaither Vocal Band, you've probably seen his arena coordination --
because he's overseen their travel and arena relations for five years. His
name is J.D. Miller and he's the new Envision '96 Event Technical
Coordinator. He got his break into 'show biz' when he was only 16. Roger
Miller ("Trailers for Sale or Rent", "Do-wacka-do") walked up to him in a
restaurant where he was playing dinner music, and on the spot asked him to
be his personal pianist. What followed was 20 years of technical and
musical wizardry which has included everything from writing jingles for
nationwide McDonalds ads to producing zillions of record albums each year.
At Lexington, Kentucky's Rupp Arena this past Wednesday, he paced the floor
of the venue for what organizers hope will be one of the most thrilling and
effective mission mobilization events of all time,
Envision '96. J.D. is
ready to "paint the town" -- from arena fireworks to an opening ceremony
torch run to carefully timed staging to prayer and fasting... Envision '96
is coming to Lexington, KY, Nov. 1-3! If you haven't registered yet, call
Walter at the Envision '96 office -- 1-800-972-1137 -- and let him know
you're interested. You can also email him at
wbirney11@aol.com. Pick up
an exhibit for the entire event for $190 and share your tapes, videos, books
or mission opportunities. Meet 6000 people... or 10,000 or 18,000... as
many as the Lord shall call. See ya in Lexington!
