CHRISTMAS GIFT IDEA FOR THAT SPECIAL SOMEONE
Searching for a special
gift for that significant someone in your life? [Click HERE
for special
Java sound effects of sleigh bells and snow flakes] [What? No
sleighbells??? Sorry. We were having trouble with that feature, so we'll
just have to be satisfied with the sound effects of the snowflakes.
]
Tired of facing the crowds at the mall... or at the village market? Give
the gift that keeps on giving. Give a subscription to Brigada Today!
Until Dec. 24th, subscriptions to Brigada Today will be on sale at 50%
off the normal price! That's a savings of half off the regular retail.
Can we make 5000 Brigada participants by Jan. 1st? We can... if each
person who receives this Brigada Today would buy a gift subscription for
just one friend! So... invest in someone's inbox... and
recommend Brigada Today today!

DON'T BE GUILTY OF CRYING WOLOF; DO SOMETHING!
Check out the new
Wolof Home page at
http://users.mildura.net.au/users/mjackson/
The authors wrote this week that they're desperate for an
ethnomusicologist who will help them reach the Muslim Wolofs. If you know
of someone willing to join them, write Mark Jackson
mjackson@mildura.mildura.net.au down under. Thanks Mark!

ONE-DAY MISSIONS SEMINAR IDEAS NEEDED
Richard Malm
richardmalm@juno.com is trying to compile a resource list of all the
one-day missions seminars in the world!
Like... "Harvest Connection"
by AIMS and such. If you know of any, write Richard directly. Richard,
can we count on a summary report in a couple of weeks?

PRESENTERS NEEDED FOR SEMINAR IN CRIMEA, UKRAINE
The place is Crimea.
The time is May 19-21, May 22-24, early October 1997. The person is
you, . . . or so hopes Georges Carillet, missionary with Team Expansion
and Kentucky Christian College in Simferopol Ukraine. Georges works with
Crimean American College there and is seeking scholars and specialists who
can present a Christian perspective (to non-Christian professors and
students) in the following areas:
- Medical issues (particularly ethical
issues and the sanctity of life; genetic engineering; euthanasia continues
to be a hot topic; alcohol and drug treatment are constant concerns),
- virtue (its place and function in society, its necessity, its sources, etc),
- ecology/environmental issues (this is an important issue in
Crimea with strong philosophical underpinnings, either closely associated
with a mechanistic worldview or strongly influenced by 'new age' ideas), and
- science and faith (or some such combination for an "apologetics"
section, though apologetics ought to be represented in some form in the
other sections as well; there is keen interest in a paper on genetics and
evolution).
If you can help, write Georges directly
carillet@wildwind.com
and he'll fill you in on more details. Maybe you should be the next
person in a summit in Yalta?

INSIDER AT COMPUSERVE OFFERS HELP TO BRIGADA USERS
Guess who's
reading Brigada these days??? Sharon is, that's who! She's a helpdesk &
Systems Specialist at Compuserve (for the Christian Interactive Network)
and has volunteered to help Brigada Today readers with questions related
to Compuserve and its use with Brigada and all other issues. (She's
committed to us that if she doesn't know the answer, she'll find someone
who does!) Thanks Sharon! Write her with your CServe questions at: SRH
71712.3534@CompuServe.COM.

DESPERATELY SEEKING SAUDI
Here's a guy who wants to open up marketing
possibilities in Saudi (Arabia). He'd like to be able to visit and/or
locate there in some tentmaking role, so he can show Christ's love to the
people He loves! Write David McDermott
75351.247@CompuServe.COM if you
have options for buyers for stationery products, watches (he's even got a
series on the OT for kids! [serious!]), or other imports.

COME ONE, COME ALL TO PRAY WITH BRAZIL!
Here's a guy who'd like to
know your prayer requests. Milton
teureino@nutecnet.com.br distributes
(in Portuguese) edits a monthly prayer calendar newsletter and ships it to
4000 people in Brazil -- for free! He'd like to know your prayer
requests... but, . . . in Portuguese, if possible
We've already sent
him info on how to join Brigada-prayer-requests, just send a message to
hub@xc.org
with only the following line in the text of the message:
subscribe Brigada-prayer-requests
But if you have specific requests
you'd like to target directly at a Brazilian audience... or if you'd like
to subscribe (and [very important] you read Portuguese!
), just write
him Milton
teureino@nutecnet.com.br.

CALLING ALL RADAR TECHS
Seriously. An advocate for a Muslim people
group in the Middle East has a job opening for a radar technician. Got any
leads on a Christian radar technician who might be interested in this
opportunity? For more information Email
wade.harlan@wciu.edu.

MARCH FOR JESUS HAS A USA OFFICE TOO!
If you've been trying to
contact March for Jesus from one of their overseas offices, you can also
try
104203.262@compuserve.com here in the USA too.

NEED NEWS ON THE MIDDLE EAST?
Try the International Christian
Embassy Jerusalem (ICEJ) news service on Middle East current affairs.
According to Glen Howard, it's free! To subscribe, just send an E-mail
letter to:
meid@icej.org.il. In the "Subject" box, write news in "main
body" write "subscribe". According to Glen, who is Pastor of the
International Church of Budapest, "This is a new service that has only been
available for 4 weeks." Check it out if you like!

NEED INFO. ON GOV'T LEADERS FOR YOUR PRAYER TIME??
Bob Sutterfield,
with MAF's new electronic frontiers dept, suggests that we try
http://www.odci.gov/cia/publications/chiefs/chiefs-toc-view.html
which says it was updated November 4, 1996. That should bring us all up to
day as of Nov. 1! Thanks Bob!

AFRICAN PROVERBS, I PRESUME!
Global Mapping Int'l is releasing a
multi-faceted electronic research tool called the African Proverbs CD
which contains: 27,000+ proverbs in 25 languages, 23 complete books, 35
unpublished essays, 200 proverb key page collections, a bibliography of
800+ collections, 42 maps identifying 200 languages, a biographical
directory of researchers, an ethnologue directory of 1500 African
languages, a list of collections in print with publishers' addresses and
much more. (Whew!
That's a mouthful!
)
According to Harold Britton, a VP at GMI, "Proverbs are the distilled
genius of oral cultures (perhaps even an encapsulation of the whole
culture). They identify and dignify a culture, bringing life into wisdom
and wisdom into life. Relating scripture to proverbs is a powerful tool
for preaching and teaching. This will be a very significant tool for
churches, colleges and organizations worldwide."
Harold has worked with the rest of the folks at GMI to develop a special
deal for Brigada subscribers. We can order the African Proverbs CD at a
special discount price of $99.95. For more info, email:
harold@gmi.org. Thanks Harold!
