In this issue....

NOW THERE'S A WAY TO GET INFO ON YOUR SELECTED PEOPLE GROUP!
This is
a Special Edition of Brigada Today. Until now, how would you have
discovered connections and options for getting "from here to there?" Most
of the time, we rely on incidental relationships... or worse yet, pure
serendipity. But now, through the magic of the Internet, a hard worker has
made good use of Brigada technology to provide safe links to pioneer
ministry among specific peoples or areas.
We told you in previous issues that something special was in the wings for
October. Well, it's October!!! The day is here!!! The "something special"
is ready!!! And it's free and ready to use! You've got all the software
you need (nothing to buy, nothing to download, nothing to install) -- and
all the hardware you need. All you have to do is put it to use!
Over the last four years a great momentum has been building around the
world to begin or strengthen ministry to the least reached people groups.
More and more churches are focusing their missions efforts around adopting
a people group. ... As a result there are more and more people who want
up-to-date information about specific ethnic groups. ... At the same time
many of the field workers in pioneer fields are organizing themselves into
field-based ministry partnerships. ... The problem, though, is that the
field partnerships and advocacy teams need a level of security for them to
be able to continue their ministry. ... The Brigada Connections family of
e-mail addresses seeks to help solve this problem. Caleb Project, in close
partnership with Interdev and other major international missions
initiatives, has been working to assemble MINISTRY KEY CONTACT TEAMS who
are able and willing to assist a broad base of Christians to link up with
pioneer ministry among specific peoples. This ongoing process has resulted
in the formation of more than 40 teams of ministry leaders, people group
advocates, partnership facilitators, and missions researchers who are
committed to help the Body of Christ worldwide develop strategic ministry
relationships for these strategic people groups. These are qualified,
experienced, informed people with a good understanding of all aspects of
ministry in their areas of focus, including the security issues.
Please look through the attached list and consider contacting one or more
of these key contact teams. This is NOT an automated data retrieval system.
Rather, it is a means by which you can begin a caring relationship with
those involved in pioneer missions work. If you are involved or want to be
involved with one of the groups listed below, please write them and let
them know: who you are (they need to know they can trust you), what your
current interest, activity, or commitment is, how you might like to be
involved in the future in what ways you hope to assist in their area of
expertise.
The Brigada Connections project is a WORK IN PROGRESS! If you are part of a
ministry key contact team for an unreached group, city, or area, please let
us know
connections@cproject.com and we'll contact you with more
information about what is involved in this project.
Note: this program is made available entirely on a volunteer basis. If you
would like to know how you can volunteer, or would like to support this
project financially, please contact us.
So spread the word! Let's put these teams to work!
Thanks to John Hanna, Advocacy Director with Caleb Project, Littleton, CO,
for a job well done!!! (You can contact John via (303) 730-4170 (voice), or
(303) 730-4177 (fax), or just write
Connections@cproject.com.
For the most current list of Brigada Connections groups, send the
following message to
hub@xc.org
conferences brigada-connections
Then you can write a particular "connections" -- e.g., send an email to
<brigada-connections-acehnese@xc.org>. Note that through a special
configuration of Brigada email conferencing, you don't have to "join" this
group for your email to land in their "in-basket." The "connections team"
for the group you want to contact will remain the only "members" -- and
they'll all get a copy of your inquiry. As time goes on, John wants to
launch additional connections forums as they are needed and as additional
workers become available.
Do these "Brigada-connections" conferences do away with the existing
"Brigada-peoples" conferences? Nope. The new "connections" conferences
aren't designed for press releases or free exchange. They're only for
referrals and inquiries. That's the beauty of the system!
So -- try it. Pick out a people that you'd like to know more about. Let's
test these connections conferences with all 6000+ Brigada participants!!!
These guys want to grow a movement!!! And... thanks John and all the
connections teams!!!!

BRAVO TO BETHANY!
Thanks to Rick Ward and the whole Bethany crew!
This week they issued a press release proclaiming victory -- "The most
comprehensive prayer and resource material ever produced on the Unreached
Peoples is now available through Bethany World Prayer Center..." 1739
people profiles are going out the door soon! This has been a monumental
undertaking... over two years in development, over 50,000 man hours of
work, over $450,000 invested in research & printing, and now over 2 million
Prayer Profiles in stock. Call (504)774-2002 or check out their web site at

Bethany

HOW CAN YOU GET DAILY PTW3 INFO?
Just subscribe to Global Prayer Digest! John Hanna reminded all of us this past
week that the GPD is
meshing their daily updates with Praying Through the Window III people
groups, as the days of this month tick by. So -- waste no more time. Send email to
hub@xc.org
with only this line in the text of the message:
subscribe brigada-pubs-globalprayerdigest
You'll receive daily reminders... along with about 1000 other people! Literally!

THOSE YELLOW RECTANGLES FOR EVEN LESS!
Last week's item, "
WHAT IF
YOU COULD OWN A COPY OF EVERY NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC?" attracted quite a
stir. At least one Brigada participant found the National Geographic CD
compendium for an even better price via MicroWarehouse (800-367-7080 or
fax 908-363-4834) -- $179! (Thanks Lester!!!) So you might find it locally
at a computer warehouse (if there's one near you???) for something similar.
Otherwise, find a friend who can order it for you from Microwarehouse and
add 108 years of NG to your research library!!! That's less than
$2/year!

SO WHY DIDN'T WE EVER MENTION THE HARVEST?!
Carole's a mobilizer in
our office here and she walked in last week with the great little video,
The Harvest and I realized, we've never even mentioned it here.
Marketed by Integrated Resources (a division of Campus Crusade) out of
Indiana University, you can get it in the USA (or via your fancy Internet
telephone setups) by calling 1-800-729-4351 or by faxing 812-339-8389 from
anywhere in the world. It's like 15 minutes or so long... excellent
quality . . . a parable about a boy remembering a very special harvest day
after his father had passed away, when farmers came from all around to help
get the harvest in on time. Incredible message, great application. $14.95
plus shipping & handling (which is $5 to USA addresses). Well worth your
while to use it at your next missions rally or faith-promise! Forgive us
for not profiling it before. It's a 1996 film.

NOW ET ISN'T THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN PHONE HOME!
Norm Kluever
norm.kluever@worldnet.att.net wants to make it easier for the people in
your office to phone everywhere. He's got a couple of small PBX phone
systems (the "dial 9" type!) that he can donate to a mission group,
Christian school, or other nonprofit. Any takers? If so, contact Norm
directly. Thanks for your unselfishness, Norm!

WISH EMAIL ADDRESSES BETRAYED GENDER!!!
Then I'd be saved from
embarrassment like that of last week's item, "CHILDREN'S MISSIONS
RESOURCE FILE." It thanked "Gerry Dueck at the US Center in Pasadena" for
a job well done assembling children's resources. Well the job was well done
all right, but the editor was half baked!
Gerry is very much a lady!
Sorry Gerry!

MARCH-WATCH
Want more information on the international March for
Jesus programs??? If so, there's an email conference set up for
disseminating information called mfj-news. To subscribe send a message to
hub@xc.org
with the message
subscribe mfj-news
This is a one-way conference where messages about MFJ will be posted a maximum
of once a week.

NOW YOU CAN UNDERSTAND THE MUSLIM MIND
Part of sharing hope and help
with Muslims consists of learning more about our similarities and
differences. Arab World Ministries has a booklet entitled, "Understanding
the Muslim Mindset: Questions about Islam," which is a compilation of
questions and answers about Islam by retired AWM missiologist, Sam
Schlorff. The booklet is $2.95, plus $1.25 shipping and handling and may
be ordered by calling 1-800-447-3566. See AWM's web site for more details
and more resources about Islam:

GLOBAL GLIMPSE FROM INDIA
New Life Fellowship (NLF) is spreading
Gospel fire across India! From its small beginnings back in the 1960s in
Bombay, now NLF has sent thousands of missionaries into hundreds of pioneer
regions across India. Each day roughly 2500 missionaries take the Gospel
to an average audience of 20,000 -- souls that are witnessed to
face-to-face in personal evangelism. On an average they see 270 people come
to Christ daily. NLF has a goal to recruit, train and send 30,000
missionaries to cover every unreached region in India.
