GUIDEBOOK TO THE ROAD LESS TRAVELED
Short-term mission trips are just that--short-term. So instead of spending most of their time on the field trying to figure things out, if participants go prepared, they can be free to focus on their ministry. Guidebook to the Road Less Traveled is a good resource for preparing short-termers. Filled with practical tips and down-to-earth biblical wisdom, this 100-page workbook is an in-depth discipleship tool preparing participants' hearts and attitudes for the experience ahead of them. Reasonably priced at $8.00, Guidebook to the Road Less Traveled may be the resource you've been looking for. For more information look at http://www.wycliffe.org/short-term/guidebook/home.htm or call Kyle at 407-852-3660, or email kyle_faircloth@wycliffe.org.

Dr. Doug McConnell, the international director of Pioneers International, will be teaching "Foundations of Leadership". For more information and an application e-mail jmitchell@pioneers.com. There is limited space available, so early application is encouraged. If possible, apply by November 1.
UPDATE ON HUMANITARIAN WORKERS IN AFGHANISTAN
Several have asked about the Shelter Now folks in Afghanistan. Apparently, their lawyer visited Kabul yesterday, but was not able to see the judge, or even speak with him. A man with the protocol department reportedly told the lawyer that everyone in the court was busy, and now not concerned with the case. In addition, these 8 friends have also been moved to a different location, described more "like a dungeon". If you haven't already prayed for these folks, now would be a good time.

MISSION TO MUSLIMS IN MOSQUE DESPITE CURRENT CRISIS
How do they do that? The answer is 'Through Meetings for Better Understanding.' (MBU) And it works! The pioneer of the method, a Egyptian Christian, says that several Muslims have become Christians through those gatherings. They can take place alternatively in a mosque, church, or a small group. A day after the bombs started falling on Afghanistan a previously planned MBU on the subject of war took place peacefully in a mosque in the UK. A Muslim and a Christian leader spoke for 30 minutes each on what their books say regarding the subject. This was followed by 30 minutes question time. MBU's are not debates where each others faiths are publicly attacked. Neither are they dialogues with the goal to compromise the message. Each side simply presents its view on theological and social topics. Of course, the Christians have a tremendous advantage because the word of God is sharper than a two edged sword...(Heb. 4:12) In the time of fellowship that follows relationships are built and so the witness goes on and on. For more information and practical help on how to set up those meetings in your area contact administrator@biblicalchristianity.freeserve.co.uk. Their web site, http://www.biblicalchristianity.freeserve.co.uk offers helpful articles on explaining the Gospel to Muslims and those of other faiths.

Thanks to <eGroups.com> for hosting the Brigada mailing list.
Emphasis is placed on items relating to unreached peoples and challenges faced by those reaching them cross-culturally.
PLEASE DON'T SUBSCRIBE US TO YOUR LIST -- It's always better to ask before manually force-adding anyone to your list-serve or mailing list. Recently, tons of well-meaning people have been subscribing Doug to their lists. Since he often travels overseas, he doesn't join many of those, for obvious reasons (like being charged big-time for overseas access). So as a general rule, please don't bulk-mail us! See the note above if you'd like to submit items for Brigada Today. Thanks for understanding. Bottom line: We will never create Brigada Today items from bulk mail. Bulk mail gets deleted immediately -- sorry. Nothing personal. We suggest you apply the same standard to everyone. Ask first!
WARNING ABOUT FORWARDING EMAILS -- Please, before forwarding any kind of request (even if it says
"please send this to all your friends"), please check to
make sure it has a VERIFIABLE ORIGIN, a VERIFIABLE PURPOSE, and a
VERIFIABLE CLOSURE (OPC). By following this simple approach, many
"email viruses" could be nipped in the bud... at least in the Brigada family. More information about the full Brigada OPC protocol is available. Thank you.
