lately??? Whew! What a re-make. And they're now shipping free to all USA addresses (reasonable rates to those outside the USA too). Plus you can get past MARC newsletters and search big-time through everything on their site. So if you need a book or publication about relief and development... or anything else in categories from "Anthropology" to "Women" (that's *almost* A to Z :-) ) give it a try.

6) LEARN ABOUT NOMADS -- The third Nomads Consultation will be held January 7-11, 2002, in Pasadena, California, co-sponsored by Institute for Nomadic Ministry of the U.S. Center for World Missions, The International Journal for Frontier Mission, and Interdev. 7) PLIGHT OF AFGHAN WOMEN -- With all the recent events in Afghanistan, there's a lot of interest in how to help the *people* there. Here's a tangible way to learn more. An NGO working with Afghan refugees recently produced a 12 minute video featuring the plight of Afghan women. Entitled, "Tears For Afghanistan", this video was featured at the Global Conference for Women in Dallas recently, and is being made available to interested parties. If you would like to order a copy for your church or prayer group, or would like to make a gift of the video to someone you know who needs to get a better understanding of what women there are going through, you may email <Afghanwomen@aol.com> . The suggested donation for the video is $5.00 US, plus $2.00 US for postage in the US. It is available on VHS in NTSC and PAL.

9) MISSIONS INTERNSHIP PROGRAM -- The Acts 13 Initiative in Manila, Philippines will host an eight-week missions experience for college-aged youth, June 3 – July 28, 2002. The experience will include intense participant discipleship and outreach opportunities. The cost is $2,000 US. 10) CONSIDERATIONS FOR HANDLING MAIL -- Females have *always* wanted to know more about how to handle the mail. :-) Well now there's hope. Fresh from the postal service in the USA, here are some helpful tips. We share them knowing full well that some will say we're overreacting... because after all, only a *handful* of letters have been determined to have been contaminated with anthrax in recent days in the USA. But hey... some of this stuff is probably common sense for all of us... because it's a new day. So maybe... it's not a bad idea to at least take notice. For example, maybe we're all going to have to start looking at the return address. If the letter is at all lopsided or lumpy in appearance, don't be so quick to tear it open. Be suspicious. What else should make you suspicious?
*** It's hand-addressed and has no return address or bears one that you can't read
*** It's sealed with excessive amounts of tape
*** It's marked with restrictive endorsements such as "Personal" or "confidential".
*** It has excessive postage.
Now I'm not suggesting we become paranoid... but postal workers are advising all of us... worldwide... to begin realizing that ... hey... the mail *can* contain stuff that *shouldn't* "go through." So what do we do in those cases? Here are some precautions:
*** Don't handle it if you suspect at all that it might be contaminated
*** Don't shake it, bump it, or sniff it
*** Wash your hands thoroughly
*** Notify your local law enforcement authorities.
