  2. POST 9-11 ENCOURAGEMENT -- Dan Iverson, a missionary in Chiba, Japan, wrote a very encouraging article regarding the events of Sept. 11 and the "larger perspective" of reaching Afghanistan. Several missionaries (and senders!) have commented on what an encouragement this was. You can reach the article at the web link below or by emailing: <missionschip@mindspring.com>.

First clip and paste this link into your browser's URL box: http://www.christianity.com then paste these letters behind the above link. /CC/article/0,,PTID23682|CHID125043|CIID872842,00 .html

  3. TRAIN THOSE SHORT-TERMERS -- You know you should spend more time on cross-cultural training, but the planning and logistics of your short-term mission trips are taking all your time and it's almost summer. Give a 12 lesson Bible Study guide to each member, assign the lessons and debrief some of the lessons together in small groups. You'll be amazed at how well they can get on track with the help of this book, Before You Pack Your Bag, Prepare Your Heart. God's word can be used to effectively buihttp://www.CampfireResources.com or email Miriam <answers@campfireresources.com>.

  6. RESOURCES ON INTERNATIONALIZING WESTERN MISSIONS -- Marty is looking to put together a list of available resources on internationalizing western mission agencies. He is looking for resources that deal with resourcing, governing, planning/strategizing and organizing of missions beyond being only a western sending agency to one that incorporates missions and/or missionaries from around the world. If your mission has "internationalized" or is thinking about doing so, or you have done work in thisMarty <mdshaw@world.cbi.org>. Items submitted will be reviewed and compiled and made available through Brigada in the near future.

  7. CHRISTIAN ORPHANAGES WEBSITE -- Here's a site that attempts to help people find opportunities to serve abandoned or orphaned children, from infants to teens, in Christian child care facilities around the world. This may be the only website that lists nearly 150 such Christian facilities, with links and other contact information. Visit http://ChristianOrphanages.org and see for yourself. You can use the search engine to take you directly to countries or types of ministry in which you may be interested, or take advantage of the "Ask Us" service to obtain personalized assistance.

Many of these orphanages or homes accept volunteers to help with a variety of tasks, including child care, medical and dental services, construction, administration, and teaching. You can learn more from <webmaster@mfinder.org>.

  8. WANTED: TESOL TEACHERS -- Are you looking for an overseas, cultural experience where you can serve the Lord short term or long term? 9. PRE-TEST YOUR NEW LAPTOP -- Yikes. I just got ambushed by the "new laptop syndrome." Picked up a new Sony laptop just prior to the overseas trip I've just completed. Unfortunately, after I got it overseas, it wouldn't pulse-dial. Now I'm back in the states -- but I'll have to call the Sony tech support people to find out what's up. Either I've got an uncooperative modem... or Sony has ditched the pulse dialing protocol! (I tried manually putting the "P" in the dialing sequence.) The moral of the
