  1. FOR USA CHRISTIAN WORKERS: FOLLOW THE "FAIR" IN "FAIR MARKET" -- If you haven't already been following the case brought to the courts by Rick Warren at http://www.pastors.com/pcom/specials/IRS.asp you might want to start. (Thanks John!) It appears that the outcome might impact Christian workers from the USA who use the "parsonage allowance" clause when filing their taxes.

  2. AUDIO BOOK EVANGELISM, VERWER-STYLE -- George Verwer, founder of Operation Mobilization, and Spear Books are putting together a new strategy using Digital Content for both evangelism and spiritual nourishment. The vision is to see Audio Books become a major player in influencing people around the world. Information can be found at http://www.spearbooks.com . (Click on "Audio Books".) Missionaries can also register as "Reps" and earn commissions as well.

  3. HELPFUL RESOURCE FOR TESOL -- Need TESOL resources? Log on to... http://MissionFinder.org/tesol.html . The site's two main sections list a sampling of the many opportunities for teaching English as part of Christian ministry, usually for a short term, and also some of the many places where you can learn the techniques of teaching English to those who speak other languages. For more info., see their website.

  4. WHAT ABOUT THE CRUSADES? -- Especially since the events of Sept. 11, there has been a lot of talk about the evils of the Crusades, and how some of the hostility in the Middle East today can be traced to those events. Even a recent issue of U.S. News and World Report seemed to castigate Christianity for those invasions. But what is the truth? Our friends over at MissionFinder.org have posted an interesting article on the subject that is worth a read. Check it out at http://MissionFinder.org/Islamand perhaps learn a bit more of the history than you did in school.

  5. FIX FOR LAPTOP MODEMS THAT WON'T PULSE DIAL -- Hats off to Brigada reader Doug B. who emailed in a fix for my laptop that wouldn't pulse dial (last week's item, "9) PRE-TEST YOUR NEW LAPTOP"). His solution? Take along a PCMCIA (PC) card modem that you know will work anywhere. Elegant, I must say. I happen to have one that I could have taken. Rats. Can't believe I didn't think of that, Doug B. Thanks for the tip!

  6. JOURNEY OF PEACE BY NAT'L COUNCIL -- The 12-day journey of the National Council of Churches delegation to the Middle East has just wrapped up, and is documented in words and pictures at http://www.ncccusa.org. The itinerary included visits with top church and government leaders of Turkey, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan and Israel. The 14 participants are from Greek Orthodox, Episcopal, United Church of Christ, American Baptist, Syrian Orthodox, Presbyterian, United Methodist, Armenian Orthodox, National Baptist USA, and Evangelical Lutheran churches. Their visit is at the invitation of the Christian churches of the Middle East.

  7. IT'S NOT TOO LATE TO REGISTER FOR WORLD CUP OUTREACH -- We have inside information that latecomers just might still be allowed to register at http://www.worldcupoutreach.com for the 2002 FIFA World Cup outreach. Just think... As you watch the accomplishment of amazing *earthly* goals, you could be accomplishing even greater *heavenly* goals! (Thanks for the tip, Jeffrey! Wish I could go myself!!!)

  8. WHERE TO RENT A GOOD CAR... AT A GOOD PRICE -- Every now and then, we get inquiries from those headed to their homeland on furlough or "home service." Howard has agreed to compile the best resources you can send his way, then we'll make them available to everyone through a Brigada autoresponder. So... send him the contact information on your favorite cut-rate auto rental establishment, or vehicle ministry, or whatever. If the establishment specializes only in a particula

  9. ANTIOCH NETWORK’S ANNUAL CHURCH PLANTING CONFERENCE -– How does three days of intense interaction with church planters sound? Are you wondering how the local church can be involved in church planting among UPGs? Antioch Network will be hosting the 2002 Annual Gathering of Churches on June 12-15 in Tempe, Arizona. The expanded format this year includes three pre-conference intensives as well as display tables for up to 20 invited people group networks. If you are interested in more information
