  1. NEW SPONSOR: TEALBROOK -- Need a piece of camping gear? Please give Tealbrook a try: http://www.tealbrook.com . They cater to the needs of missionaries living in wilderness situations, with water purfiers, packs, and tons of other supplies. Thanks to Tealbrook for their sponsorship for Brigada!

  2. ARE YOU RECEIVING TONS OF UNSOLICITED EMAILS? -- Often referred to as "spam", these advertisements and scams are on the rise. In fact, they're deluging anybody and everbody that uses the Internet. Spammers (those who specialize in sending out thousands of unsolicited email ads on a daily basis) harvest your email address from websites, web-forums, or by buying address lists from other vendors. So if you put your email address on the form at your local hardware store, the next thing you know, you're getting weekly email updates from a fix-it-yourself magazine... and a few weeks after that, from a pornographic website. It's insane -- and out of control. As for spam in the USA, congress is up in arms and committed to coming up with legislation to address it. Only God knows if they'll be successful. Some studies show that spam now makes up 40% of the email most users receive. (It's lots higher than that with me.) If you want to try to address spam on a smaller scale basis, try these options -- courtesy "Dan the man" (our Information Technology guy at Team Expansion): For Outlook users: http://www.cloudmark.com markets Spamnet; about 95% effective. Only works with Full Outlook (not Express). http://www.Mailblocks.com - this is Dan's favorite. 100% effective. a penny a day. However it uses IMAP rather than POP3 so it is tricky to use with some programs. Available for Outlook / Outlook Express / and Eudora, if you can configure it correctly. http://www.Mailshell.com. 10 cents a day, about 90% effective. For POP3 only clients. Some Internet Service Providers hook up their users to spam control for no extra charge. For example, Earthlink provides a form of Brightmail. I've been using Earthlink since 1995 and I'll have to say, their spam control catches hundreds of spam messages to me per day... but dozens still get through. No solution is 100% effective. Rats. :-)

  3. DENTAL TRAINING FOR MISSIONARIES -- Learn a practical skill with which you can demonstrate the love of Christ and open the hearts of unreached peoples to the gospel. Dental disease is the most common disease in the world. Millions suffer for lack of available or affordable dental services. In just 9 days, Dental Training For Missions can train and equip you to bring greatly needed dental care to your community. Let us not love in word only, but also in deed… I John 3:18 http://www.dentaltrainingformissions.com E-mail: <dentaltrainingformissions@att.net>

  4. U.S. WEST COAST HOSPITALITY HOME OPENS -- Located in Southern California, "Rancho de la Paz" (Ranch of Peace) is truly a peaceful setting where missionaries (and other Christian workers) can find respite. Meals can be prepared by guests themselves in the self-serve kitchen and eaten in solitude in one’s room, on the patio, or in the gazebo with its 360 degree view of the rolling hills, or they can be enjoyed with the household in their *International* dining room. For more information: (909) 245-4082; P.O. Box 1388, Lake Elsinore, CA 92532 USA, or email: <admin@across2u.com> Check out: http://www.across2u.com/rancho.html .

  5. CASE STUDY FOR POLAND -- A web evangelism team in Poland is using an integrated portfolio of websites with some very effective strategies. This case study presents many ideas which could be adapted for other languages and countries: http://www.gospelcom.net/guide/resources/poland.php

  6. E-SWORD -- Layman Rick Myers has developed an online *free* Bible download service of 40 translations in 14 languages including Chinese, Russian and Ukrainian. More than 800,000 Bibles have been downloaded since it launched in 2001. The King James Version is included with Strong's reference numbers which key the text to dictionary references showing the underlying Hebrew and Greek words. It includes a built-in word processor to import text, add notes, highlight key passages and print. Again, all this is free. Mr. Myers lives off of donations. http://www.e-sword.net/ (ABP) Thanks for the tip, Mark!

  7. UNHINDERED 2003: AN EVENT FOR YOUNG PEOPLE IN MISSIONS -- Unhindered 2003 is a special event coming up in Frisco, Colorado, with still barely enough time for you to learn more. If you are a young adult interested in world evangelization, pray about coming to Colorado on June 25-29 for a time of networking, sharing new ideas, and worshiping the Lord Jesus Christ. Floyd McClung, George Miley, and others will be sharing their hearts for the local church's involvement in this great task before the body of Christ. For more info check out the website at http://www.unhindered2003.com or email at <info@unhindered2003.com> .
