HOW DO YOU FIND LIKE-MINDED UNREACHED PEOPLE GROUP ADOPTERS? -- Patrick <Ptrkbailey2@cs.com> was on a quest: He and his wife are missionaries in the Philippines and have established a relationship with the unreached people group called the Badjao. He wondered how he could search for churches and individuals interested in adopting a people group like the Badjao. Patrick, we suggest logging on at http://www.joshuaproject.net/ then following the instructions there to register your interest and/or involvement with the Badjao. Thankfully, these folks will switchboard your involvement with others. It's a great service. Good luck!
GUIDELINES FOR RADIO MINISTRY -- Here's a book being offered by Latin America Mission designed as a tool for ministry. "Proclaiming the Gospel: Guidelines for Local Christian Radio Programming Around the World" by Kenneth D. MacHarg is a modern guidebook to help Christians produce quality Christian radio programs and develop a listenable format for Christian radio stations. Designed for use in developing countries, it is helpful for Christians anywhere and is available in either English or Spanish. The cost is $6 plus $2 postage in the U.S., actual postage cost outside of the U.S. For information, check http://www.lam.org and click on bookstore, or write to LAM at Box 527900, Miami, FL 33152 USA.
PROMOTING ECONOMIC ACTIVITY -- LAM is also offering the book, "Kingdom Business, The Ministry of Promoting Economic Activity", by David R. Befus. The book explains how the development of productive economic activity contributes to the growth of the church and to a presentation of a holistic Gospel. Again, it is available in either English or Spanish and the cost is also $6 plus $2 postage in the U.S., actual postage cost outside of the U.S. For information, check http://www.lam.org and click on bookstore, or write to LAM at Box 527900, Miami, FL 33152 USA.
NEED A GOOD CHRISTIAN COUNSELOR? -- Sometimes they're hard to find. Check out Christian Counseling at http://christian.sunrisecounselling.com They charge professional fees but we doubt you'll find much quality counseling for free anyway. What's more, they list a lot of helpful resources on their site. Some even direct people to certain kinds of help that will end up being free. See their secular site at http://www.sunrisecounselling.com to see how they witness to people as well.
VIDEO CONFERENCING FOR MISSION -- The team at International Christian Media Commission http://www.icmc.org is trying to identify some no- or low-cost approaches to video conferences for half-a-dozen or so international participants. Like many Brigada participants, they work with folks all over the world and they'd like to stay in touch with them in the best way possible. The ideal is that the solutions should work as easily as a telephone conference call. Have you discovered anything that works for you? Let Andrew <andrew@icmc.org> know and he promises to pass the results back to a future Brigada report. We'll publish it here as soon as he sends us a copy. (Don't forget, Andrew!)
HOW TO HANDLE LONG URLS -- Got a long URL (web address) that wraps to the next line? Try logging on to http://www.tinyurl.com to redirect folks to the real address. It couldn't get much easier. (Thanks for the tip, Joe!)
MISSIONARY HOSPITALITY IN UPSTATE NY -- Three cheers for folks willing to open their home up for missionary pilgrims: Anita writes, "I own a 20 room home in upstate NY (Nunda NY, 30 minutes from Houghton, 60 minutes form Rochester, 90 minutes from Buffalo); missionary families are welcome to stay with us... Anita Baird, PO 96, Nunda NY, 14517, 585-468-2827, member, Elim Gospel Church, Mt Morris, NY; <Ajmbaird@aol.com>.
CHECK OUT THIS COMPUTER BATTERY -- US Prayer Center Director, Eddie, wrote recently, "I just returned from a very exciting trip to India (including a debate with a Hindu priest in a Hindu temple in Calcutta)! You might want to check out the 10-hour battery at http://www.valence.com "I bought one for my laptop. My battery had died. For almost the same price, I bought this thing. It is roughly the size of my laptop, but 1/2 inch thick. It uses Saphion Lithium-ion Polymer technology, and is called N-Charge. At our hotel in India the power would go off several times a day. I could completely recharge this in 2 hours or so, and it will provide 10 hours of service. So, I never lost computer power. A great missionary item, I think." Thanks for the tip, Eddie!
PREPARE TO TEACH ENGLISH -- Teaching English opens many doors to ministry throughout the world, but it takes training to teach English WELL. YWAM in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, USA, has scheduled the next TESOL training class for September 2-26, 2003. For information, see website http://www.ywampa.org or email <ywampa@comcast.net>.
