- HELP YOUR CHILDREN DO MISSIONS -- Join children from across North

ministry projects to help hungry people. How will your kids make a
difference in your community for Christ? To learn more, visit

Crossroads DTS at Youth With A Mission, Lebanon, PA, USA. This 20-week
dynamic journey includes 12 weeks of life-changing teaching covering

- SHORT-TERM MISSION LEADERS' CONFERENCE -- The 2008 Short-Term Mission
Leaders' Conference is an annual training event open to church, school,
or agency leaders who lead, train, organize, supervise, or go on
Christian short-term mission trips. Featured speaker for 2008 is Bob
Klamser of Crisis Consulting International. Bob will train in Risk
Assessment and Crisis Management: Keeping Your Short-Term Teams Safe in
a Risky World. Other conference topics include: Urban Missions,
Standards of Excellence in STM, STM Basics 101, Technology and Trends in
STM, Training Your Team, and much more. Register online at
http://www.stemintl.org/training/stmlc
Or call 1.877.STEM.646 for more information. Early registration and
group discounts are available.
- PRAY FOR FORGOTTEN PEOPLES IN NAMIBIA -- Next month, as we recognize
Valentine's Day and give remembrances of our love to our family members,
please remember to pray for the Forgotten Peoples of Namibia. Many know
of God's love but many others have not heard. Even though God loves the
many diverse people groups of Namibia, pray that they will soon hear and
accept His love personally. Pray for the many people groups there,
specifically the Herero, the Namibian Coloureds, the Nama/Damara and the
Mbalantu. Pray that they hear His message of love and life and that
they have the open hearts and minds to accept His message. For more
information on how to become a prayer partner for the Forgotten Peoples
of Namibia, contact

- OPPORTUNITIES AN INT'L SCHOOL/FAMILY LEARNING CENTER IN THAILAND --
Here's a Christian school in Chiang Rai, Thailand, that is "Serving the
Servants" in the beautiful and tropical Golden Triangle area of N.
Thailand. Currently there are opportunities for kindergarten and
elementary teachers. Middle school and high school are in need of math,
science, language arts and history teachers. CRICS also have a growing
ESL program and needs additional teachers. Though certified teachers are
desired, because CRICS is not yet fully registered and because of strong
parental involvement in the education of the children, volunteers
without teaching credentials are welcome for a minimum of 6 months, but
preferably for 1-2 years. This is a Christian school that primarily
uses Sonlight curriculum and has students and teachers from more than 7
countries. Please contact infocrics
(at)gmail(dot)com for more information. [As a means of preventing spam
for our contributors, in the preceding email address(es), please replace
(at) with @ and (dot) with . and reassemble the address onto one line.]
- REACHING JAPANESE FOR CHRIST CONFERENCES -- Do you have an interest
and burden for reaching Japanese who are temporarily in the USA and
Canada? You are invited to participate in the following RJC Conferences:
First Hawaii RJC Conference, January 19, 2008 at Makiki Christian
Church, Honolulu, Hawaii. Second Southern California RJC Conference,
January 26, 2008 at Calvary Chapel Mission Viejo, California. Seventh
Annual International RJC Conference-Pacific Northwest, February 21-23 at
Northshore Baptist Church, Bothell, Washington. For additional
information please see

- FINAL GIFTS ARE IN; 2007 IS DONE -- And it was a great year, too.
We're so very grateful for those who have chipped in a total of $300
more:
$50 from a dear couple working in Bosnia. What a boost.
$75 from a great encourager from Columbia, SC. Shew. Thanks!
$50 from a friend working with an unreached people group in Cen. Asia
$100 from the great Canadian Perspectives students & staff, BC, Canada
$25 from a great friend in Morton, IL
This, combined with the $13,918.90 balance from last edition's report
makes a total of $14,218.90 sponsorships and gifts in 2007. It was a
great year and, though we fell short of our financial needs ($17,150),
it was still enough for partial secretarial help, along with some very
much-appreciated help toward Brigada web-hosting & expansion expenses.
For 2008, we will be setting exactly the same goal as for 2007:
$17,150. Already there are two gifts that have arrived:
$20 from a Texan with big dreams, wanting to "prime the pump" for '08
$25 Charleston S.C. Personal Injury lawyers, on the web at
http://www.joegriffith.com
Thank you very much for these and all those that helped in 2007! God
bless you every one!!!!
- WHAT IF WE FINISHED THE BUDGET FOR 2008 EARLY? -- You already know
the answer to that question. Once we reach our budgeted needs of $17,150
for 2008, we don't mention finances again for the rest of the year! What
would it be like if some generous soul(s) stepped forward to help us
make that budget *early* in 2008. Want to help today? Just click on the
"Sponsor/Donate" page:
http://www.brigada.org/donate.html
You can pull the money from your PayPal account or from any major credit
card. Or if you prefer, send a check payable to Team Expansion to: Team
Expansion (Brigada secretary), 11327 Jefferson Trace Blvd., Louisville,
KY 40291. (Team Expansion is a 501(c)3 incorporation so for USA
citizens, your checks made out to Team Expansion are tax-deductible.) As
always, be sure to let us know if you'd like us to promote any
particular service or ministry, or if you'd prefer your gift be
anonymous. And thank you in advance for helping.
- THE BACKPAGE: HOW CAN WE BRING VALUE TO THOSE WE SERVE? -- To me,
that's a question we all need to address in 2008. We missionary-types
tend to get branded occasionally as being "takers". So the question is,
how can we become givers, especially to those who give to make our
relationship possible. Let's say you come upon a website offering great
reviews of electronics merchandise... say... like
http://www.retrevo.com/
You recognize that they offer quality reviews, plus links to purchase
products at very affordable prices. You file it away in your browser's
"favorites" then go on about your work. So what I'm asking is... what if
you shared that information with someone that has been helpful or
encouraging to you... especially if it's someone that you know is in the
market for a new printer or router or monitor or stereo or PDA or camera
or camcorder or scanner or phone or MP3 player. The secret is to always
be thinking, "How can I go beyond being just a taker; how can I become a
giver back to those around me and those afar?" So you share that one
little site witht them, just in case they need it... and you make it
clear that it's not your site... just something you found and thought of
them. It's not much, but over time, it'll send a message: a message that
we're looking out for others besides ourselves.
That's our challenge in 2008.
Doug

- CLOSING STUFF --
SUBSCRIPTION INFORMATION -- Important! Please don't just hit "reply".
Subscriptions are automated. First, you need to determine the mailing
source of your individual copy of Brigada Today. We're now sending them
from 2 sources. To find out, just look at the "From:" address of your
last edition. The domain will tell the tale. Here's how to do it:
If your Brigadas come via YahooGroups:
To unsubscribe, write to brigada-today-unsubscribe@yahoogroups.com
To subscribe, write to brigada-today-subscribe@yahoogroups.com
If your Brigadas come via GoogleGroups:
To unsubscribe, write to brigada-today-unsubscribe@googlegroups.com
To subscribe, write to brigada-today-subscribe@googlegroups.com
To change your address, you must unsubscribe using your old address
then subscribe anew using your new service. If you are receiving this
email via some "alias" that you'd like to unsubscribe, try putting that
alias email address in the "From:" box of your email client
temporarily, then send the unsubscribe message (mentioned above). It'll
probably "spoof" the server into unsubscribing that old
address. Then just change your "From:" box back to your new address.
TO SUBMIT AN ITEM -- We love to feature your news & resources! To find
out how, read our submission guidelines on the web at:
http://www.brigada.org/submissions.html
TO LEARN MORE -- Interested in learning more about Brigada? Read our
site at:
http://www.brigada.org
and you'll learn the who, what, when, why and where of Brigada. By the
way, we no longer provide server-sent files via email-activated
commands. Just read all about us on the web!
NEED SUBSCRIPTION HELP? -- If you're a sponsor, you can now write to
help(at)brigada(dot)org [replace (at) with @ and (dot) with .] and get a
real human response. For information about becoming a sponsor, log on
at:
http://www.brigada.org
and click on "Sponsor" in the top line menu. Note that due to the large
number of subscribers (literally thousands) only sponsors get human
help.
DISCLAIMER -- We can't screen 'em all. Please forgive us if a
particular site contains offensive information -- or no information at
all! We *try* to visit them in advance, but often write "on the road"
so we simply *can't* preview everything.
PLEASE DON'T SUBSCRIBE US TO YOUR LIST -- Sorry -- nothing personal --
but we're already deluged. We'll eventually teach our spam filter to
just delete it anyway, but in the meantime, we'll have a sad face
because of the volume of mass mailings we receive. :-(
WARNING ABOUT FORWARDING EMAILS -- Just say no! :-) Read our thoughts
about forwarding emails at
http://www.brigada.org/articles/opc.html
WHY DO WE SAY, "[replace (at) with @ and (dot) with .]"? -- More and
more shady marketing types ("spammers" and "scammers") are using
computerized searches to harvest email addresses from off the web
without asking permission of the owner. We use this "plain English"
addressing syntax to avert automated harvesting for our contributors.
PRIVACY INFORMATION -- We will never give your information to anybody.
We won't market you, won't hassle you, and won't ever bother you. You
won't be signed up for mailings you didn't request. Your address is safe
and your future is secure. Life is good. :-)
