  1. INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL OF RECONCILIATION STUDIES -- In conjunction with John Dawson's International Reconciliation Coalition, registration is now open 24/7/365 for the web-based, self-paced 12 month school for leaders, the International School of Reconciliation Studies. Comprised of a world-class gathering of scholars and storytellers, this school is designed to multiply creative, biblically anchored, multi-cultural reconcilers throughout the world. To explore the school go to

  2. CHRISTIAN VIDEOS AND DVD'S IN 1000 LANGUAGES -- The Global Christian Video Directory is a directory of thousands of video titles from around the world in around 1000 languages. It includes videos, dvd's and vcd's useful for evangelism and discipleship.

  3. MISSIONS MOBILIZATION SCHOOL SEEKING TEACHERS -- The School of Missions Mobilization, a project of Hillside Missions, is accepting applications for teachers and students. The SMM's vision is to train and prepare Latin American individuals to share the gospel with unreached nations and peoples. More than just a school, the SMM is a community. If you're not looking to enroll as a student, there are plenty of opportunities to teach! Some of the subjects taught include Bible, Missiology, Anthropology, Theology and English. For more information and an application in Spanish or English, check out

    http://www.matachi.org

  4. HOUSING FOR MISSIONARIES -- To their six guest rooms for missionaries and ministers needing short term housing while in Southern California, they have recently added three RV sites with hookups. From one night or up to two weeks, they can house families, couples, and singles in guest rooms or your RV. It's a good place for R & R for a ministry couple or family. Hospitality is on a donation basis. Learn more at...

  5. FUNCTIONAL LITERACY SHELL BOOKS -- Wycliffe Associates (UK) produce functional literacy books which are intended to raise interest in community projects or as simple aids for adults who are learning to read for the first time in their own language. The subject matter (the 'Functional' bit) is designed to show new knowledge or skills. The books cover agriculture, crafts, farming (animals), health & hygiene and illnesses & diseases. Shell Books are available as computer files (Word and Publisher) which can be printed off as small A5 booklets. Many of the English titles have been translated into French, Portuguese and Spanish, however, the original text can be lifted out in order to insert a local language whilst retaining pictures and computer formatting. 6. LEARN MISSIONS AT HILLSIDE -- Hillside Missions, an international missions organization based in Connecticut, is currently accepting applications for an internship program. The program is designed for individuals from 18-30 years of age. The internship ranges from 3-9 months. There is an optional 3 month ´externship´ for those who complete the 9 month program. As an intern, you´ll get the chance to not only observe but participate in missions on a daily, practical level. Part of the internship includes learning and active involvement in missions team training, traveling on short term trips to minister to unreached peoples, and studying the role of the church, Islam, and ESL. For more information about what life as an intern at Hillside looks like, check out

    http://www.reachthenations.org

or call the U.S office at (860) 582-7700.

  7. GOING ON A MISSION TRIP? NEED INSURANCE? WANT TO HELP BRIGADA? -- There are a lot of companies that offer international health, evacuation and travel insurance, but when you purchase insurance from Insurance Services of America on Brigada's website your purchase will help to support Brigada's work with the missionary community! Coverage is available for any international need - short-term trips, career missionaries, trip cancellation, short-term teams and term life insurance.

For coverage details, rates and the online applications of the Brigada sponsored plans, go to

    http://www.missionaryhealth.net/brigada.htm

Insurance Services of America has agreed to help support Brigada from sales that are made on this link, so when you purchase on this site you will be helping to support Brigada and you will be protecting yourself and your ministry from financial loss!

  8. JOIN US IN PRAISING GOD -- We give Him the glory for the fact that a great new friend in Barbados gave $25. A family from St. Louis gave $100, another from Norman (OK) gave $100 more, and $35 came in from Little Rock, AR. We also received $25 from a worker at

http://www.christiansincrisis.net  Please stop by their website and check 'em out.

  9. WOULD YOU BE THE DIFFERENCE-MAKER? -- Because Brigada Today's budget is so small compared to other entities (the whole year's budget is just $17,150... which is a fraction of what most mission works need per year), one person, one group, one company, or one church could really make a huge difference. Would you? Just click on the "Sponsor/Donate" page. You can pull the money from your PayPal account or from any major credit card. Or if you prefer, send a check payable to Team Expansion to: Team Expansion (Brigada secretary), 11327 Jefferson Trace Blvd., Louisville, KY 40291. (Team Expansion is a 501(c)3 incorporation so for USA citizens, your checks made out to Team Expansion are tax-deductible.) As always, be sure to let us know if you'd like us to promote any particular service or ministry, or if you'd prefer your gift be anonymous. And thank you in advance for helping.

  10. THE BACKPAGE: THE COMPLEXITY OF LIFE -- Life is complex. Did you ever think about that? Just think of all the relationships. If you're married, then you have a relationship with your spouse. If you also have kids, then you have your relationship with your spouse plus your relationship with your kids plus your *spouse's* relationship with the kids. Add in the relationship that each sub-group has with each other, overlay that with relationships with the Lord... then sprinkle in relationships with close friends, in-laws and colleagues... Shew. No *wonder* life is complex. Makes me tired just thinking about it! :-)

So how can we make it easier? Well, perhaps there are no easy answers. But here are some lessons I'm starting to draw on half a century of life.

*** Treat others like you want to be treated -- Golden rule. Duh. :-)
*** Never, never, never give up on any relationship.
*** Assume the best; grant grace before it is requested.
*** Avoid ever bringing up past failures (sins?) committed by those you love.
*** And in all your relationships, walk in Jesus' steps.

There are other important conclusions, but if we could just master those, we'd be well on our way to eliminating some officially high percentage points of all stressful exchanges we would ever have had.

So what are we waiting for!? Let's get started.

  11. CLOSING STUFF -- SUBSCRIPTION INFORMATION -- Important! Please don't just hit "reply". Subscriptions are automated. First, you need to determine the mailing source of your individual copy of Brigada Today. We're now sending them from 2 sources. To find out, just look at the "From:" address of your last edition. The domain will tell the tale. Here's how to do it:

If your Brigadas come via YahooGroups: To unsubscribe, write to brigada-today-unsubscribe@yahoogroups.com To subscribe, write to brigada-today-subscribe@yahoogroups.com

If your Brigadas come via GoogleGroups: To unsubscribe, write to brigada-today-unsubscribe@googlegroups.com To subscribe, write to brigada-today-subscribe@googlegroups.com

To change your address, you must unsubscribe using your old address then subscribe anew using your new service. If you are receiving this email via some "alias" that you'd like to unsubscribe, try putting that alias email address in the "From:" box of your email client temporarily, then send the unsubscribe message (mentioned above). It'll probably "spoof" the server into unsubscribing that old address. Then just change your "From:" box back to your new address.

TO SUBMIT AN ITEM -- We love to feature your news & resources! To find out how, read our submission guidelines on the web at: http://www.brigada.org/submissions.html

TO LEARN MORE -- Interested in learning more about Brigada? Read our site at: http://www.brigada.org and you'll learn the who, what, when, why and where of Brigada. By the way, we no longer provide server-sent files via email-activated commands. Just read all about us on the web!

NEED SUBSCRIPTION HELP? -- If you're a sponsor, you can now write to help(at)brigada(dot)org [replace (at) with @ and (dot) with .] and get a real human response. For information about becoming a sponsor, log on at: http://www.brigada.org and click on "Sponsor" in the top line menu. Note that due to the large number of subscribers (literally thousands) only sponsors get human help.

DISCLAIMER -- We can't screen 'em all. Please forgive us if a particular site contains offensive information -- or no information at all! We *try* to visit them in advance, but often write "on the road" so we simply *can't* preview everything.

PLEASE DON'T SUBSCRIBE US TO YOUR LIST -- Sorry -- nothing personal -- but we're already deluged. We'll eventually teach our spam filter to just delete it anyway, but in the meantime, we'll have a sad face because of the volume of mass mailings we receive. :-(

WARNING ABOUT FORWARDING EMAILS -- Just say no! :-) Read our thoughts about forwarding emails at http://www.brigada.org/articles/opc.html

WHY DO WE SAY, "[replace (at) with @ and (dot) with .]"? -- More and more shady marketing types ("spammers" and "scammers") are using computerized searches to harvest email addresses from off the web without asking permission of the owner. We use this "plain English" addressing syntax to avert automated harvesting for our contributors.

PRIVACY INFORMATION -- We will never give your information to anybody. We won't market you, won't hassle you, and won't ever bother you. You won't be signed up for mailings you didn't request. Your address is safe and your future is secure. Life is good. :-)
